Simply the best. They do Gd’s work. Best pistachio biscotti I’ve ever had. And their breads are out of this world.

Hello! They do wholesale only! I am at the door by 10:00 a. m right now, and that’s what the owner just told me face to face!

Good little place. Go there about once a month. Never knew they were there until a block party a year or two back. Pros: not that busy and good bagels. Cons: small place and the place ships a lot of the stuff to the owners other place so makes some stuff limited. They have couple tables in back with 2 to 3 chairs each so you can eat there. If you eat there the best bet is to bring or buy creamcheese and/or butter for the stuff due to limited times they have that stuff. And they don’t have any breakfast drinks(milk, coffee, chocolate milk, juices). But good overall.

This isn’t really a bakery but a kitchen where you can purchase leftover pastries :) Which doesn’t sound good except the chocolate croissant and bagel I bought were actually really delicious…

First world problem alert: It’s surprisingly difficult to find a really, really good croissant around Main St. in Santa Monica where I live. I’ve been hunting the coffee shops and cafes for days, helpless to a monster craving for a beautiful, perfectly made almond croissant with a cup of coffee. After a few disappointments, my tummy led me to this bakery, which I’ve always driven by and wondered about. First of all the parking around here is a pain, but according to a sign I saw too late there is parking available in the rear of the building. The place itself is really easy to miss — a small gray building with blocked windows and just a little red rooster sign to signify that it’s there for public consumption. Once you walk in the door it becomes clear that this isn’t a place to lounge around a chat while enjoying your baked goods. It’s a purely industrial bakery with a tiny counter in the front displaying some of the items. By the time I stopped in around 10am, there wasn’t much to choose from, but lucky for me they did have an almond croissant, I also picked up a strawberry pop tart thing for good measure. The croissant wasn’t super fresh but was much better after being nuked for a few seconds. Finally I had satisfied this nagging craving with something better than a stale Starbucks pastry! But even better was the pop tart thing — the crust was nice and crumbly, and the fresh strawberry filling was divine… and surprisingly not too sweet, especially with some coffee or tea to accompany it! I’ll definitely come back here to pick up one of the gorgeous baguettes I spied next time I have people over for dinner. It’d be too dangerous to get it for myself because I think I’d probably eat the whole thing… and it’s a huge loaf! Good to know that there’s a high quality bakery in the area!

Cute exterior, surprising interior. I’ve been passing this bakery for months by car, always wondering what it was all about. Finally I was on foot, and decided to enter. I tried to open the front door(during open hours) but it was closed. Being not one to be easily deterred, I went to see if there was a back entrance. I saw a worker through a glass door, and asked to come in. He let me. The place, turns out, is not what you’d think a bakery to be. It’s not a retail setup, but more wholesale based. Apparently the owner owns 5 restaurants in the area and ships the goods there. It makes sense, cause this place didn’t seem to make an effort for the walk-in customer type. There were about 5 options. No drink options, just the typical baked goods. I picked a chocolate chip cookie($ 1.25) and a blueberry muffin($ 3). Neither were good.

I love this local bakery, particularly since Pain Du Jour down the street closed! Quell do age! The baguettes are amazing when they have any left! Day Old specials are a great deal! The Staff are extremely friendly! The hours are very inconvenient, and I wish that they were open earlier on Weekends! Sunday hours are from 12? The parking in the back is convenient. I love their outdoor patio! A bit pricey, but get the day old bargains while they last!

Weird hours for a bakery(10 a.m. — 4 p.m. ?!) but worth the wait in the morning. Also — sometimes the front door is locked. Walk around back and enter through the kitchen. They sell out of their goods quickly, so, the earlier the better. I’m currently in love with the banana nut loaf. Almond croissants are good if you like almond paste filling(there’s plenty). Blueberry muffins are just meh. Also — if you live nearby, you can snag a staple(onion, lemon, etc.) to take home. Of course, Yummy is just up the street, so you an always run over there, too. FYI — it doesn’t really look like a bakery. Frosted windows and door. Keep an eye out for the small red rooster overhang. Also — parking is lacking; one metered spot in front of the shop. But, there’s more metered parking available across the street a block or two down Pico towards the beach.

Only came here for one thing: Lauras Brownies. It says on that the brownies are available here but when I stopped here I found out that was not the case. I asked the employee I was here for lauras brownies and he informed me that they did not have any, that Laura had not been in for a couple months and he didn’t know when she would be in. I left disappointed!

Ok, so here is the deal. I went into this bakery today. As I walked in, the pastry and goods was on the left and I asked the worker if they took credit cards and he said«yes». The bakery was around the corner from my house and I spotted this the other day and knowing that there’s another bakery down the street on the left hand side towards Lincoln. I felt that it was going to be alot better than the other one. I asked the guy which ones were good and he pointed to the day old pastry and I asked if they were any good. He said that he wouldn’t be selling pastry if they weren’t, plus they were a dollar a piece so I bought 2 plain croissant and 2 chocolate croissant. When I got home I took one of the chocolate out and it felt super hard. This didn’t feel like a day old pastry, it felt alot more than several days old. I used the microwave and heated the pastry for 20 seconds. Again, it felt hard and wasn’t fresh. A day old pastry isn’t going to be this hard or stale. I heated the plain croissant and that felt hard and stale after 20 seconds of heating too. Mr Baker, If your going to sell day old pastry and bread, don’t sell it to someone that’s going to give you the worst review and get away with it. Toss this out and do not sell them. These were not a day old pastry! WARNING!!! Luckily I didn’t get sick and tossed these out. Makes me think your serving these pastry at your other restaurants in the Los Angeles area. Day old bread! Come on!

This is your traditional neighborhood bakery where you go to grab a fresh loaf of bread for the week or order a few bagels, danishes, or cookies to treat the co-workers at the office. On my first visit I grabbed an onion bagel for my husband, and get this there’s fresh grilled onions piled on top! So how could I not get this little treat for him, he loved it by the way. On my most recent visit for a loaf of bread I brought the kidlet along, and the guy behind the counter asked if she could have a cookie when I said yes he gave her a chocolate chip cookie. Which brought on the warm and fuzzies as I remembered going to the bakery(Pouls Bakery in OC) with my Great Grandma to get rye bread and getting a free cookie each visit. For a quaint shop mostly comprised mostly of baking equipment they have a lot to offer but they are missing a star for lack of options for those with allergies or dietary restrictions, yeah I’m a nazi like that. I wish I could try more of the beautiful baked goods they offer, instead of drooling over how amazing they look, but so far I’ve been able to try the regular white bread and it was delicious, I just wish their variety of baked goods could include some vegan and gluten-free options.

I love bread. Good bread. Really good bread. Like European bread. I used to live in D.C. and believe it or not, we had some really great bakers there in a couple shops where I could get my fix when needed. I decided to try again to find some good bread in Santa Monica. I’m not a major fan of Le Pain Quotidien’s bread. Haven’t found a good baker yet. Red Rooster might be it. I’ve gotten the bread twice. Pretty good. The first baguette there bordered on awesome. And the raisin sticky bun(yum) that I shouldn’t have gotten plus the chocolate croissants that my kids went crazy over were the icing. This place is like 2 blocks from my house. Is that lucky? And what a nice kid — I mean young guy — works at the counter. You have to go this place Santa Monica. It’s right under your noses.

Don’t know how I’ve missed this for so long… apparently they’ve been open for 2 months! Seems to be Bruce Marder’s central bakery for his restaurants(Capo/Cora’s/House) that also has a small counter area/display case for walk-in customers. There’s all sorts of fresh breads and other baked goods– the onion bialy I had was delicious and you can also buy homemade ricotta, jams and buratta cream cheese. There’s a tiny patio in the back with two or three tables.
