Keith Erickson, originally from St. Louis, MO, currently resides in Santa Monica, California. He is an innovative and dynamic musician who continues everyday to work on, educate and study various genres including rock, funk, blues, classical, jazz, reggae, hip hop, Latin, country and afro-​Cuban, (among others). Keith is an in demand mobile DJ/​MC for weddings, and other special events.

History

Established in 2004.

Keith earned a B. A in Music from Florida State University where he studied with Gary Werdesheim, John R. Beck, Leon Anderson, Brian Gaber and others. His focus was in classical percussion and commercial music which focused on engineering, composition and business studies. During his college years, Keith played with many original bands, cover bands, church and school ensembles. He also spent much of his free time interning at George Clinton’s studio in Tallahassee, learning pro tools from head engineer Gary Wright.

Keith grew up in a family of musical artists. Music and DJ’ing have always been his passion and way of life. As early as age 5, Keith was playing piano and soon after drums. Keith has a B.A. in Music.

Since this was my first wedding (and last!), I might have nothing to compare my DJ experience to, but my wife and I loved DJ Keith. I had one job in the wedding planning process which was to find and hire a DJ, and Keith made that incredible easy and painless. He was very responsive and easy going and once we met him we knew he was the ONE (and my wife approved of my choice). When Sept. 27, 2015 rolled around, Keith was extremely professional and relaxed and made the whole evening flow with ease and comfort. We still hear from guests about how impressed they were with him! Highest recommendation for this guy, you are in good hands!

Keith Erickson was our wedding DJ/​MC at Eden Gardens on 10/​17/​2015.
He was really great to work with — professional, yet friendly and very down-​to-​earth.
From the first day we met him, we could tell he really enjoys entertaining guests and making sure everyone gets enough dancing in before the night is over. We were a little hesitant at first since our wedding schedule was packed with other activities, and we didn’t want to focus on just dancing. However, talking through the schedule with Keith, he listened to what we wanted and gave us some great ideas. We decided to book him.

To help with the planning process, he has a wedding worksheet for the bride and groom
to fill out prior to the final meeting. Standard, but pretty thorough worksheet. Between the first meeting to our big day, Keith was responsive to our questions or any concerns via email, phone call and text.
On our big day, we were not disappointed =D! DJ Keith was awesome — he knew how to balance between DJ-​ing and MC-​ing — he was not flashy or too loud. He even worked with our relatives to surprise us with a special performance. During open floor dancing, we were a little worried that our guests wouldn’t come up to dance, but DJ Keith made it happen! He felt the crowd and selected the right songs to get our guests of all ages up and dancing!
The dance floor was pretty much alive up until the end our celebration. We had lots of compliments from our guests — they really had a blast! Even my 70-​something year old aunt was dancing and showing her moves =P! Thanks, Keith, for being part of our wedding celebration, selecting awesome line dancing songs and making our wedding just that much better!

My wedding was August 23rd 2015 at the Hartley Botanica and this man was the icing on the cake! Extremely professional and positive. He was incredibly responsive to our needs. We told him the music we wanted and he played it at exactly the right times. It was like he could feel the heartbeat of the party and he kept in time with it. He wasn’t cheesy and he wasn’t grabbing attention. He was simply epic. His lights were right in tune with the décor without being obnoxious. Every part of our experience with Keith was extremely positive!

If you like a cheesy, annoying shmultzy DJ, Keith isn’t the guy for you. If you like organized, fun, kickass DJs hire Keith! Our wedding was this last Sunday at Hartley Botanica. Since he works this venue often, everything ran so smoothly. I’m super picky when it comes to music and the vibe of a party. Just from one meeting he nailed it! Everyone had such a good time! It felt like a dance party all night. Even the ceremony went amazing! No glitches, no problems. I hate DJs that talk a lot over the music and are super cheesy. He was none of these things. Trust me, if you have Keith as your DJ, you’re gonna have a great night.

DJ Keith is the best! He was a huge part of making my wedding a dream come true. From my very first meeting with him, I knew I was making the right decision. He is such a joy to work with and so knowledgeable. He walked me through a complete timeline of my wedding and even helped me choose some of my songs for the ceremony. All of my guests were raving to me about what a great DJ he was. Many of my guests including myself were on the danced floor the whole night. At the end of the night, Keith even handed me a CD of the songs we walked down the aisle to, our first dance, my father daughter dance, and the last song. DJ Keith exceeded all of my expectations.

DJ Keith rocks! He is a very skilled, fun, entertaining and knowledgeable DJ. We were stoked to book DJ Keith for our wedding after meeting him at a friend’s wedding and seeing him make the whole wedding fun with his DJ/​MC skills. From the moment we met up with him to discuss what we were looking for at our wedding, he brought an upbeat positive attitude and his wealth of knowledge and experience of weddings to help us brainstorm and create exactly what my wife and I wanted both musically and timeline wise. DJ Keith was always easy to get in touch with for all our concerns and questions and guided us every step of the way. When it came time for our big day, DJ Keith was ready to go and flawlessly executed everything we wanted and more! Your DJ truly will be the essential audible host of your wedding as he is the one constantly interacting with your guests and controlling the flow and musical vibes. We were proud to have DJ Keith keeping our wedding rocking and moving with the timeline we had created and never had to worry or doubt him for a second. We had Keith DJ our wedding and he was simply amazing. People don’t lie when they say one thing you definitely need to make sure you don’t short cut at your wedding is your DJ and MC. Keith kept the whole flow of the night going from ceremony to cocktail to dinner to dancing with all of the traditional wedding stuff in between.
He also actually plays what you put on your list and doesn’t play what you put on your do not play list. For example I said no «group dance» songs meaning the electric slide, Casper slide etc. but all of my friends kept requesting the Wobble and he actually chased me down and found me at the wedding and asked my permission to play. I thought that was pretty cool. Some djs will just play whatever they want all night, but not Keith. He takes whatever you want very seriously.
Beforehand he was very organized. We had an initial meeting when we first booked him so he could get to know us and our music style. Then we met again like a month or so out from the big day. He will send you a timeline of the entire day with all of the songs so you can make sure you are all on the same page.
I’m pretty sure Keith has an education background in music so he’s really smart and he knows what works and what doesn’t based on his experience and he knows what sounds good and how to keep the night going without those awkward wedding moments. I had a ton of compliments from my guests about the wedding and the overall evening and a large part of it was thanks to Keith.
Keith also does more than just DJ weddings, he plays in a band locally around Santa Monica and overall he’s just a cool guy. He loves music and appreciates the art and is more than just a wedding DJ. So whatever your entertainment or wedding need is for your event you will definitely find it with Keith. I will recommend him to everyone I know who needs music for their wedding in the LA area.

Having gone to numerous weddings before my own, I had become skeptical and wary about the idea of a wedding DJ. For awhile, my then wife-​to-​be and I were almost set on making a playlist on an iPod and blasting that through speakers for the evening. Neither one of us wanted the type of dj who would be on the microphone all night, up-​selling each old 50s standard and the usual wedding-​type songs.
Then we met Keith. From our first meeting, we knew that this was going to work out really well. He’s incredibly thorough, professional, easy to talk to, and overall made us feel comfortable about the process of picking out music. Besides banning country music, and picking out a few songs that we definitely wanted to hear, we ended up feeling comfortable enough leaving all of the other song decision to Keith.
And that paid off. At our wedding, I saw relatives dancing all night who had probably not danced like they did in twenty years. Everyone commented about the amazing and fun music selections, and we have Keith to thank for such an incredibly fun evening.
I highly recommend Keith for your event if you need a talented, fun, professional DJ and all around great person that will make your event a night to remember.
