I had a super good experience with Brittany in Santa Monica. She is a great singer and a wonderful, fun teacher. GO FOR IT!

I really like this school. The teachers are very professional with the students. I took voice, piano and violin for at least a year. The only reason I did not continue with them is because it became too pricey for me. Really wish they would give more of a discount for multiple classes. Yes they did give me a discount but still to pricey for me. But, overall I had a wonderful experience!!!

My 8 year old daughter has been taking violin with Andy for the past couple of months. It’s been a wonderful experience for her. Andy’s funny and detail oriented in his instruction, and she’s happily looked forward to her lessons every week.
I’ve met other participating families that attend privates during the same time, and everyone seems to feel the same about their experiences with their teachers — ranging from voice, piano, violin and drums.
If you’re a novice wanting to pick up a new instrument or a more proficient student looking for a great music instructor, Green Brooms is the place to go. And if Andy is available for strings, ask for him, as he’s an excellent choice, too!

We were lucky enough to find Green Brooms Music Academy about a year and a half ago and it’s been such a gem. My daughter has been thriving with her piano lessons as well as the amazing encouragement she’s received for performing in recitals. The personalized lesson plans that she receives from her amazing teacher Colin make all the difference. I highly recommend Colin and Green Brooms to anyone who wants their child to develop a love of music.

Our 10 year old daughter has been taking piano lessons here for 1.5 years with teacher Rebecca. It is an amazing program. We initially started here after winning a silent auction and I feel like we hit the jackpot with Rebecca. Our daughter took lessons a couple years prior and just did not connect with the teacher but Rebecca makes learning fun. We never have to ask her to practice because she enjoys what she’s learning. They have two recitals each year and they come up with entertaining music ranging from zepplin to Coldplay. I was initially a little concerned about the rules they read a bit rigid but they are very flexible as long as you give notice you are missing. Only negative is parking isn’t always the easiest but not their fault. Other than that I can’t say enough about our great experience at Green Brooms!

I’m a current student taking vocal lessons and couldn’t be happier with them! Tara is my instructor and in one month I can already tell how she has made a different with my voice. I’ve enjoyed the experience so much that I even wrote two blog posts about it: 1)

My son is 4.5 and he’s been going to Green Brooms Academy for 7 months now. We like it so much that my husband started guitar lessons and I am planning on taking piano myself. When our #2 turns 4 he’ll go there also.
I was a bit stressed about starting my son so early fearing he might get discouraged and would not want to play music. For now, boy I was wrong. The main things I like about Green Brooms Academy are as follows:
1. First, we were unsure which instrument to start with. My son said he’d like drums and piano and for a couple of months his instructor Carl let him play drums for the first 15 minutes and piano in the second half of class. Slowly my son transitioned into solely piano without anyone forcing him into making this decision.
2. It’s not a stressful environment but the instructors take themselves seriously and make sure their students – even if they are 4 years old – learn. Once, my son didn’t make an effort in class and his instructor clarified that this was unacceptable and since then my son is behaving perfectly in class. I respect the instructor’s decision and honestly am happy to see that I am not wasting my time and money on nothing.
3. In continuation of previous point, students are expected to practice but it’s really up to them and their parents. Given my son’s age I ask him to practice for just a few minutes 1 – 2 times per week and Have never heard a complaint from the instructor. This is insufficient to turn him into a professional musician but safer in my view now to make sure he continues to play for years to come.
4. After maybe 2 months my son could already read notes. I was really surprised and impressed with the quality of teaching!
5. Carl is not only a great music instructor but also a fun, funny, and great person. The other instructors seem wonderful as well.
6. During the holiday season Green Brooms held their winter recital in which my son and all other children and youth participated. It was really nice! The kids were proud of themselves playing on stage in a professional theater.
7. Katie Godec from Green Brooms is one of the nicest and more helpful people I have ever met. She assists with pretty much anything we need with such grace and enthusiasm that it makes it really fun to go there. Also, she spent 1.5 hours with my son and the other children during the recital (parents sat in a different area in the audience). She handled children and young teenagers so well and the kids love her.
8. Location — it’s very convenient and usually I find metered parking right away either on 6^th street or on Broadway.
9. Finally — the price. Music lessons are always a bit on the pricey side. I find that Green Brooms Academy’ rates are very reasonable compared to alternatives in West Los Angeles.
10. I tried to think of something to complain about but could not.

Beautiful school right in the hear of Santa Monica. They have such an amazing staff, and a HUGE range of music instruction programs to fit everyone’s needs. As a professional musician, I an’t express how grateful I am to see amzing resources like this for people looking to improve their craft.

This place is great, just started taking guitar lessons from ROB, he’s awesome. I rang them because I saw these reviews so I want to add mine as well. A business like this deserves it. The only thing I wish is that you could take piano and guitar for the same tuition, just switch off every other week. Great place though.

Green Brooms is an absolutely fantastic school and I feel so lucky to have found it over a year ago now. The entire atmosphere is warm, friendly, and inviting. Everyone I’ve met there, from the teachers, the directors, the office managers, to the students themselves have been so warm and friendly, it makes me want to be there more.
I’m extremely impressed with the quality of teachers they have, all of whom are highly trained and skilled. I started taking voice lessons with Rebecca over a year ago and I’ve progressed to a level I never thought possible. She’s an amazing teacher and a lovely person. I’m so happy with how I sound now and can’t wait to see how much more I can learn and progress. I never thought I could sound this good. I look forward to my lessons every week. It’s added another dimension to my life and it’s been such an enriching experience.
In fact, I love it there so much, I decided to start taking guitar lessons with Rob in September and I’m having a total blast! He’s an amazing guitarist and teacher and makes every lesson so much fun. I can’t believe how much better I’ve gotten in such a short period of time.
I really can’t say enough how much I enjoy Green Brooms. If you’re thinking of taking music lessons of any kind, there is no better place. Whether you’re an adult trying to learn an instrument for the first time, an accomplished musician who wants additional training, or a parent looking for a school for your children, you won’t go wrong with Green Brooms Music Academy.

My daughter, who is 4 years old, currently takes private voice lessons with Rebecca at Green Brooms. She loves it there and Rebecca is an awesome teacher. Because my daughter cannot read words right now, Rebecca made a CD recording of the music class so my daughter may practice during the week.
Once I mentioned to my daughter that we will practice her voice lesson and my daughter thought I said we were going to voice lesson and she immediately danced around and got so excited. That’s how much she loves this class.
The private class is half an hour long and the time goes by incredibly quickly, full of vocal exercises, singing and learning musical notes and reading music. After the class, my daughter is singing the songs or practicing her vocal exercises.
The receptionist is friendly and the classrooms are clean.
For us, it comes down to the teacher. If you or your child are able to take vocal lessons with Rebecca, it is an invaluable experience for your budding musician. She is friendly, warm, encouraging, supportive, imaginative and a really wonderful teacher.

This place is GREAT!
My daughter has gone here for a few years and at one point we decided to take a break because she began to feel like piano lessons were more work than fun. She had also been diagnosed with Visual Perception Disorder so I figured it may be too difficult.
I realized what an amazing place this was when the owner called me from out of town to ask us if we were okay and if I could tell him why we were leaving.
I told him about the situation and he agreed that music should be fun for her. He asked me to speak openly about her experience and was extremely open to constructive criticism. When I explained an issue we were having and the new information we had on our daughter’s learning disorder… he immediately told me that he’d like to have us try a different approach with another teacher and if she didn’t return to piano being fun again… we didn’t have to pay for a full session.
They reached out to us in such a kind manner and found the right fit.

Manuel and Gyllian are amazing!
I took lessons here over two years ago, but had to stop because I was getting into other things, but i’ve been so happy since I started coming back.
They have a range of teachers for every instrument, who can teach technical things while still making it fun!
Such a great place, and a bunch of my friends have started coming here after I referred them.

A few months ago I woke up inspired to play guitar. I didn’t have delusions of becoming a rock-​star per se, but I really wanted to understand chord structures and get a grasp on basic guitar theory. I walked into Green Brooms based on these very Unilocal reviews, took one lesson with Rob Garland, and was blown away. I could immediately play a couple rock songs (cool to show-​off to friends), and I learned a bunch of chord progressions that kept me busy until the next lesson. Hats off to Rob who is patient, upbeat, and has taught me a ton in a short time. And believe me. I’m no natural.
I’m now 6 lessons in couldn’t be happier that I found this gem. The rooms are clean and soundproof, they have a recital stage, and are located in Santa Monica just a few blocks from 3^rd Street where it’s easy to park. Also important is that the pricing is right and they lock you into the same time slot each week.
Two thumbs up for Green Brooms! Maybe I will be a rock-​star after all.

When I signed up for piano lessons in January, I had no idea what to expect. I have never had formal/​extensive training of any instrument before except for about 6 months as a young child. But when I started taking lessons with Gyllian Lozano (Director/​Owner of Green Brooms) any reservations or nerves went away instantly. Gyllian’s expertise, guidance and support have been unparalleled. In just 4 months I went from playing simple ditties like «Ode to Joy» and now I can play full pop songs all while actually reading the music, not memorizing the pieces.
Gyllian’s patience and teaching technique have allowed this experience to be stress-​free and so much fun. Piano is now a very big part of my life and my happiness. Gyllian’s dedication to my growth as a pianist and performer are really helping me towards reaching my goals as a musician (because of Green Brooms I can now call myself that!). I’ve also recently started taking voice lessons with Lea because I am so in love with piano and singing. Lea is fantastic, and I am looking forward to my continued work with her. I already see a change in my vocal range and ability and I’ve only been taking voice lessons for a month.
On top of it all, the Green Brooms staff truly makes me feel like part of the family. Thanks for everything guys! Love you all xxx

I take piano lessons in santa monica at Green Brooms and it has been a wonderful experience. I took piano lessons when I was young, but eventually chose sports over music. Last year I blew out my knee so I decided to give Green Brooms a try while I recovered. I’ve enjoyed my experience here so much that not only am I continuing to take lessons after fully recovering, but I have extended my lesson time each week.
My teacher is very encouraging and always ensures the pieces that I’m playing are pieces that I want to play! I’ve also started learning music theory. There is an overall great vibe at Green Brooms. I look forward every week not only to my lesson with my wonderful teacher, but to seeing Gyllian and Manuel. They really do a great job of creating an atmosphere that you want to be a part of. If you have time for lessons and live anywhere near Santa Monica I would highly recommend trying Green Brooms.

I heard about Green Brooms from a friend last year. I visited their previous location and it was kind of cramped. I was told by Gylian (owner) that they were looking for a new location to accomodate the increase in students. She had mentioned that Green Brooms would be hosting a holiday recital… which I totally forgot about…
A few months later I got an invite for their holiday recital (last December) and decided to check it out to see how the students perfomed The venue was the Santa Monica Public Library auditorium… I was impressed with the performers and instructors. The performers ranged in age from about 7 years old all the way to a lady who was in her fifties, I believe. The students performed various instruments and some even sang… it was a really a first class event!
Fast forward to earlier this month… I got an e-​mail invitation announcing the grand opening of Green Brooms new location. Yup, Gyllian had relocated as she had mentioned she would do when I first met her last year. I decided to check it out… boy am I impressed. Green Brooms is no longer hidden in the back of an old dingy office building… they are in a newer building with sidewalk visibility. The energy there was great and I have yet to see a music school like Green Brooms.
When my son turns 4 he’ll be taking lessons here. The space is bright, well laid out. We had a chance to talk to some of the instructors and was very impressed with the quality of people they have. There are about five different private rooms if I am not mistaken, each has a different color scheme and each seems to be dedicated to a different type of instrument.

What a treat!
If you or a family member are thinking about music lessons for drums, guitar, voice or piano then you should swing by this place. SERIOUSLY.
Between the super nice staff, patient instructors (I had Bill) and upbeat décor and natural light, this place has broken the mold of the dingey music lesson studios/​academies/​instructors we all grew up with.
Seriously, I was in a sweet room with an electronic drum kit and art on the walls with an instructor from Berklee. Sweet! There is no way that when I was taking lessons in a dank, windowless and asbestos tiled room in Texas 20 years ago that I would have dreamed that there would be a spot like this to come and learn. I felt sort of VIP. LOL
I’ve played drums most of my life and my instructor (Bill) was brilliant at accommodating me. He was not patronizing, but at the same time didn’t kiss my ass. He was great at jumping right in and showing me some sweet practice tips right off the bat.
I was surprised to see just as many adults there as young kids. I thought I was going to for sure feel stupid for being the only adult. There was actually a lady taking guitar lessons at the same time her daughter was taking violin. That seemed pretty cool.
Don’t half step. If you’ve been holding back on learning that instrument or it has been decades since you played or if you have a kid that you want to learn piano… do yourself the favor and check out this joint.

When I began lessons, I was 100% clear on my crazy last minute schedule, no surprises there. It was never mentioned that my scheduling was a real problem, especially when I signed up for a second package of lessons (which would have been a good time to mention it). I was given a breakdown of sessions only AFTER I marched in and sat in the office, waiting to find out what was going on because my teacher had disappeared for over 2 weeks, refusing to return my calls. I never got any further communication from my teacher or her assistant when I disputed the bookkeeping on that breakdown. And my «refund cheque» initially bounced at the bank and had to be put through later.
I think it is very fair to let people know my experience.
