Fred Chao, DDS

Dr. Chao is the best dentist I’ve ever had. My husband and I have been Dr. Chao’s patients for several years now. I had a dental implant done at his office as well as an old filling replaced on a chipped front tooth and was very pleased with the professionalism and care I received from everyone at the office. Always a pleasant experience! Highly recommended!

Fred Chao is HONEST. I know this because before him, two other dentists wanted to give me fillings for cavities. But then I saw Fred and he meticulously showed me my X-​rays and said I didn’t have any.
I know I’ve been scammed before, years ago, so I was always hesitant to believe dentists, just like mechanics. But Fred proved he’s a keeper.
And his staff is great, plus I got to watch House of Cards on TV (netflix) while they cleaned my teeth =)

I’ve have been meaning to write this review for months! Dr. Chao is the best dentist I have ever been to. He is knowledgeable, up to date on research and more interested in helping to keep my teeth and gums healthy than in pushing any unneeded dental work, unlike my prior dentist. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. The office therapy dog is completely adorable. I don’t care about the aesthetics of the building, and I am fully supportive of any doctor who cares about keeping his/​her overhead down in order to provide the best healthcare wihtout worrying about how to pay for office rent. Just an amazing find in a stressed-​out city.

Dr. Chao and his staff are friendly and professional. Always punctual, and Dr. Chao is so personable and really gets to know each of his patients on an individual level. I came in on a recommendation of a good friend and both of us have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Chao. He even gives out his cell phone number and makes himself available to patients whenever they may need him. He personally called me after I got a filling to make sure I was doing fine and wasn’t having any weird side effects. No one better!
Cherry on top– they have a sweet office puppy, Koda. She’s a golden. Older and calm and I love when she sits by the side of my chair so I can pet her :)

Oh where do I begin with Dr. Chao?! He is such a sweet and relaxed doctor! My whole experience was very calm. Coming from a family of dentistry, I am always a bit skeptical of anyone looking at my pearly whites, but since that office is located on the east coast I decided to get a referral out here and have a little faith! The office itself is very clean. The actual exam was very informative. Dr. Chao is a straight shooter. One of the biggest things I like about him! He let me know what can wait to get worked on and what needs more attention. I appreciated that a lot because many professionals easily take advantage of new clients just to make a quick buck. Dr Chao is a rare find. Check him out– he is really great.
And they have an office pooch! A golden retriever I believe. Sup chill and mellow. I like! I will be visiting him again. Thanks doc!

I have been going to Dr. Chao for many years! Him and his friendly staff have never failed to greet me with warmth, kindness and a big smile! From my many visits, I can say with confidence that Dr. Chao is really knowledgeable in his field. He will always take the time to answer all of your questions and concerns and you will never feel like you are rushed. Dr. Chao will make it a point to thoroughly review your personal patient history so that an examination of the current conditions of your teeth will result in the best possible care and direction to take next. My regular checkups are complete with the most thorough cleanings I have ever experienced — and I have been to many dental offices throughout the years, but none can compare. You can rest assure of a really positive experience from both him and his staff. After my cleanings by the hygienist, Dr. Chao will always double check to guarantee that everything has been done with no less than 100% effort. Plus, the office mascot is soooooo adorable and definitely comforting and calming for both children and adults alike! Dr. Chao is my all time favorite dentist. Having worked for a dentist and gone to many, I really feel that Dr. Chao and his staff are great at their job. They always make me feel like I am welcome, put me at ease, and are just enjoyable. Dr. Chao himself always makes sure to check in on me (when I am just having routine cleanings) and has really been a great resource for any type of issues that come (lock jaw, broken tooth, etc). Great dentist and a great guy!

When my dentist of 30 years retired, I was apprehensive about trying someone new. I’m happy to say Dr. Chao has taken over to make the dental visit as pleasant as possible.
I am a demanding patient. I do not tolerate poor medical care from anyone. They must at least as smart as I am, knowledgeable in their specialty, never rushed, attentive, and truly concerned about my health, or I will fire them on the spot.
Dr Chao passes all these tests.
Dr. Chao’s office provides a relaxed and family-​friendly atmosphere. I have had extensive work done, with minimal discomfort and time lost. I hope Dr Chao remains in Santa Monica for as long as I have teeth.

Great Dentist!
Dr. Chao is a guy who genuinely cares about his patients. He never seems rushed. He takes time to listen to what you have to say.
He also follows up with phone calls to see how you’re doing following a procedure. I know of no other dentist who does that.
He’s a great guy, and his staff is also very friendly and helpful.
Oh, yah, there’s a small parking lot, and the parking is free. You can almost always find a space.

I’ve been going to Dr. Chao for many years. He provides great service and has a friendly staff. Although I have moved out of the neighborhood, I still take the drive on the 405 to see him. He always makes sure my appointment is scheduled between rush hour traffic.

Good, honest dentist! He knows what he’s doing here… And they have an office mascot somedays… How many dentists do you know have that? :)
