I am flabbergasted that ANYONE would give this dental group anything but the most outstanding of reviews. I have been going here for 12 years and have had nothing but incredible care. I do not understand the «reviews» of scheduling issues. I have NEVER had a problem. Everyone in this office is friendly, more than accommodating and highly professional – as well as very gentle when you’re in the dentist’s chair. I have seen each dentist and each one is outstanding. Whenever I have had an emergency, I have always been able to see someone here. I have never been disappointed. I sometimes wonder if negative reviews about such an outstanding group are the work of rival competitors.

I would not recommend coming here, but not because of Dr Wagner. He’s great actually… The scheduling team is rude, they are impossible to work around your schedule, and, after I spent several thousand dollars (all out of pocket) over the course of about a year and a half, are nickel and diming me over a missed appointment which they scheduled with 1 days notice. I wasn’t surprised to see another review about it… There are plenty of talented dentists in LA, don’t waste your time and money being a regular customer to get nickel and dimed! I still need more work done — and am looking elsewhere

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with this office. Dr. Wagner deserves all the praise he receives on Unilocal and otherwise. Unfortunately, I experienced consistently unhelpful interactions with the scheduling team, being denied multiple requests for times that suited my schedule on multiple occasions. It’s a shame to find a dentist this good and have to go elsewhere due to their team making my work schedule the problem.

David Wagner is, by far, THE BEST dentist I’ve ever had. He has the most amazing bedside manner, takes time to answer all questions and explains what he is doing during each procedure. He also is excellent at checking in after a procedure to make sure there’s no other issues coming up.
I’ve been to so many dentists over the years and none have come close to the compassion and professionalism and commitment to quality work as David Wagner. I’ve since moved to the SF Bay Area and have not found any dentist even close to David Wagner.

I originally called to schedule a dental exam, but found out that my insurance might be out of network. The receptionist on the line, Erica (hope I spelled that right), immediately sensed my frustration and quickly offered to help me find out for sure. She called my insurance to get more details to assist me, even though she wasn’t even sure I’d become a patient. I was so impressed by the level of care that I opted not to look any further and scheduled an appointment.
On the day of my dental exam, all of the receptionists were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. My hygienist was quick, efficient, and kind. Then Dr. Wagner greeted me with a big smile and proceeded to talk me through the details of my x-​rays. He provided a few options, but suggested one in particular for the longterm health of my teeth. He also quickly fixed a sharp spot that developed on an old metal filling, which had been bothering me for some time. He’s one of the most personable dentists I’ve encountered, but he is also knowledgable and professional. I’d highly recommend him… although I may regret it if his calendar fills up so much that I can’t get an appointment myself haha.
The facilities are bright, clean, and stocked with new technology and equipment without being flashy. I had a very positive overall experience and I am happily going back soon for a cleaning.

Dr. Wagner and staff has provided me with the best dental experience in my 30 years of life. I had a root canal (painless) and crown lengthening done by Dr. Yancy. I was scared out of my mind because quite frankly who isn’t scared of dentists? However Santa Monica dentists proved that fear is an illusion. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Thought I chipped my tooth so I called early this morning and they fit me in right away. Dr. Wagner and his staff made me feel really comfortable and took care of my issue. I have scheduled a full exam and cleaning with them in the near future. So happy I found them!

By far the best dentist I’ve been to! The office is always very clean, and the staff is incredibly kind and friendly. Not only is Dr. Wagner extremely knowledgeable, but his bedside manner is exceptional. I originally saw him for botched crown job which was causing tremendous pain (while I was pregnant!). He was very compassionate and even called throughout the week to check on my progress. He’s been my dentist ever since (my former dentist was even a personal friend!).
It’s like having a concierge dentist (including his incredible staff) without the ridiculous concierge fees! Highly recommended!

I love Dr Wagner and his office. I am super self-​conscious about my teeth and past dentists have made that worse, but not Dr Wagner and his friendly staff.

As a patient for more than 6 years (at least 15 appointments), I can say the three dentists in this practice — Samuel, Videgain and Wagner, are awesome. Aside from the fact that all three are personable, reasonable and excellent dentists, they run a well oiled machine.
This office is more efficient than any other medical or dental practice I’ve encountered in 40 years. No joke. They are always on time, they follow up on everything and the entire process is very efficient. And EVERYONE SMILES HERE. All the time. The office is clean and it has the latest equipment. I’ve never had a complaint and I am a former healthcare administrator.
If you are in or near Santa Monica, this is the only dental practice you need. Highly recommended!

Facilities, staff, and quality of work are second to none in my experience. I’ve had some bad experiences in LA and NY before, so I was very wary walking into another unknown office. Dr. Wagner is beyond hospitable and courteous, however! A pleasant surprise for sure.

Dr. Wagner and his staff run an excellent practice. Their office manager, Michelle, is very warm on the phone and in person. Dr. Wagner was able to fit me in today for a broken filling. He was prompt, and provided excellent state-​of-​the-​art care. He has a warm demeanor and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others.

wow!!! I am so happy I decided to visit Dr. Wagner, He made my experience unforgettable. He is very kind and talks to you during the whole procedure. The ladies in the front are also very friendly and sweet. The office is very clean and well structured, I can not wait to go back tomorrow, they make you feel like you are at home.

Over the years I’ve seen Dr. Samuel but I recently had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Wagner. He is fantastic! He is so gentle and friendly. I grind my teeth and needed to get my teeth filed down. Instead of making a separate appointment to come back in, he did it right then– so easy, no pain and saved me a trip. It’s obvious he loves what he does and is on top of the latest technology.
My husband is British and let’s just say his teeth were never a priority. He finally went to see Dr. Wagner (after years of nagging) and was singing Dr. Wagner’s praises all day. He actually said, «What a great lad! If I knew it was that easy I wouldn’t have waited so long». I owe you Dr. Wagner! HA!

This entire office is the kindest, warmest and most helpful group of individuals I’ve had the pleasure of spending multiple consecutive mornings with. When I woke up with an infected wisdom tooth, I did a Unilocal search to see who was close to me and who opened earliest. It just so happened that this office was my first call. Even though I was a first time patient, they were able to get me in immediately that morning, understanding that I was in pain and needed to see someone. From there on, the treatment was outstanding. Dr. Wagner has an incredible bedside manner — very kind and gentle. Explains your options thoroughly. For me, that was — antibiotics OR try to get in for surgery. The front desk worked their magic with the nearby oral surgeon and was able to get me in for extraction of all 4 wisdom teeth THAT AFTERNOON. I was blown away by the unbelievable care for a first time patient.
Post-​surgery, I had a bit of an issue with the initially infected tooth. I called first thing in the morning again, in pain, and Dr. Wagner made the time to see me each consecutive morning to ease the pain, change the gauze and make sure I was healing okay. Every time I was waiting in the reception area, the front desk was amazingly friendly, warm and completely respectful of my work schedule and time.
I can’t recommend this dentist and this office highly enough! They are truly wonderful. I’ve already tried to get all of my co-​workers over there!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Wagner and Santa Monica Dentists.
— Easy parking within the building, though, let’s be honest, it is Santa Monica so parking at the building gets expensive. Fortunately, there is free and metered street parking right there as well. Awesome!
— Every person that works at the office is friendly, nice, and genuinely seems happy to have you as a client. They really try to remember your name, family, job, details about your life, etc.
— Making an appointment is easy (though they do get booked up in advance so they don’t always have exact times you may want). If they don’t have the time you want immediately, they will call you if it opens up.
— I’ve had two different technicians clean my teeth (they try to keep you with the same person so you can have a relationship with him/​her). Both have been good, efficient but gentle, and super friendly through out the process.
— Dr. Wagner is an awesome guy. He clearly knows his stuff, but isn’t «stuck up» about it. He is gentle on your teeth (or at least as much as can be at the dentist!) and doesn’t just jam right in there. He is also super nice and sociable. He seems to take a genuine interest in his patients. Fortunately I haven’t had any issues with my teeth, but if I do, I know he’ll keep me calm and take good care of me.
I left a practice where the actual dentist cleans your teeth and does the whole process to see David and I’m thrilled I did (and I liked my last dentist!).
I moved to Seattle, WA in July 2013 and I still schedule my dentist appointments with Santa Monica Dentists and Dr. Wagner. I get to see the sun AND an awesome dentist when I’m in LA.

I went to Dr. Wagner today and smelled my own tooth smoke as he drilled holes in my teeth, but when I considered freaking out he calmed me as steadily as a vet treating an anxious dog. That might sound strange, but I have seen too many medical professionals fail at reassuring patents in the simple way my vet does, with soft words and «good job“s. I can’t recommend this dentist (or his assistants) enough.
Anne, who does my cleanings, is also gentle and extremely nice.
The blond receptionist is the nicest front desk person ever!
I drive all the way from Los Feliz to come here, but would come even further.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Wagner. He has really changed my mind about what your experience at the dentist should be like. I’ve been to a lot of dentists throughout the years, some great and some not so great, but Dr. Wagner stands out in a league of his own. He is extremely knowledgeable and good at his job while also being incredibly kind — an attribute that makes all the difference in dentistry. I get a bit anxious before dental work, but he really helps to calm my nerves and make me feel comfortable.
The assistant was also good at what she does, but not quite as cognizant of the patient’s needs. She sometimes pinches my lip in between her instrument and my teeth, and occasionally smooshes my nose with her orange deflector paddle… but it’s completely worth it to be in Dr. Wagner’s care.
The Santa Monica Dentists office where Dr. Wagner works is one of the best I’ve been to. The staff is always friendly and efficient at getting you in and out in a timely manner, the rooms are clean, and the environment is welcoming. I always leave with a smile when I visit.
In summary, I would highly recommend Dr. Wagner to anyone looking for a great dentist in the Santa Monica or West LA area.

Usually there is something wrong with an office visit to Dentist. Not this practice; from the front office to the layout of the office and then of course the Doctor were all well above anything I have previously visited.
Plus, being able to get a 7am appointment is just not heard of this this day and age. I live an work many miles away but I am hooked.

If you’re looking for a great dentist with equally great supporting staff, look no further. Dr. Wagner works in the same office as Dr. Eric Videgain who has been my family’s dentist since I was a in elementary school. Together with Dr. Samuel, their office, Santa Monica Dentists, comprises of three dentists who, in my critical opinion, are complete all-​stars.
Anyone who reads the 5 star Unilocal review I posted for Dr. Videgain will know how highly I regard him (I’d give him 10 stars if I could). And, every once in a while, when I come in for a cleaning I see Dr. Wagner (who I hold in equally high regard).
First of all, you know there’s something truly special about a business when every member of the staff enjoys coming to work every day and authentically remarks how blessed they feel to serve alongside a high quality group of professionals whose positivity, passion and skill are only out-​shined by how great they are as people.
Second, words cannot describe the higher standard of care, quality, and professionalism you’ll receive by choosing these guys. When you walk out of their office, your day will feel brighter. You’ll count your own blessings to have such great care providers and people in your life. I’m actually excited to visit for cleanings because it feels like returning to a family-​community every six months. They genuinely care about you and you will genuinely care about them.
Lastly, it’s very hard for me to articulate how wonderful these guys are because their service simply exceeds what you’d expect of a dental office. It wouldn’t be right to call it customer service, because it feels more like family service.
A lot of Unilocalers post reviews claiming that their dentist is the best but they don’t really have any measure of comparison. I’ve known several dentists throughout my life and I can attest that these guys collectively deserve the rave reviews they get. In fact, I don’t even know if you can choose a «best one» between the three because when you work with Santa Monica Dentists you’re taken care of like family by their whole office.
I couldn’t be more happy or grateful for their work and dedication as dentists who truly care. Thank you for everything and the wonderful service you provide.
