They have basically two meats: chicken and ribs. Both were DELICIOUS! The ribs were really flavorful, and were so soft that the meat was practically falling off the bone. The chicken was juicy and tasty!

Rip off. The food is way over priced for what they offer. This may be unfair but I have friends who work in mall maintenance and they have seen the piles of frozen food boxes behind that restaurant. Stouffer’s I believe they said. Stay away from this scam. Seriously. Ignoring that glaring quality, the food is mediocre and thats about it.

Before reading this review you have to understand i am judging the food and service in contrast to other food court options. Chick n ribs is the best option at the santa monica food court along with charlie kabob. There chicken is moist and tasty, and there sides are all fresh and satisfying. The food is also much healthier than the other food court options. For the health conscious i’d recommend the ¼ white with a couple of vegetables as sides. However, you can also pig out on the ribs, some mash and mac. The service is always on point and the people working there are always trying ensure your satisfaction. The owner is sometimes there and she is such a sweet lady, always making small talk and showing interest in her customers. The price is on the high side, but not any more expensive than all the other places to eat there. It’s Santa Monica people. But overall i would absolutely recommend giving this place a shot!

for $ 11 i got an order of the ¼th white chicken as my meat, with 2 sides(mashed potatoes and mac & cheese) + a medium drink. it was alot of food piled on the plate, so i think it was worth how much i paid. came back for a little container of gravy and they didn’t charge me. the mac and cheese was kind dry, but still good. i really liked the mashed potatoes & the chicken is good too. the guy who served me was really nice ! i’d come back here if i go to santa monica place.

We came to the food court during our lunch break from an all day seminar. The other reviewers were right about this vendor being one of the ones without a line during lunch hour. Nonetheless, it offered different foods from the other vendors and the service was very friendly and accommodating. Food looked fresh and we were offered samples. The young men heaped our plates full of chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. The price was not bad for the venue. As far as taste, we used hot sauce and barbeque sauce readily offered to us. This is not fine dining so we were not expecting gourmet taste, just well-portioned fresh food. The chicken I had was juicy and moist to my liking. If at the rooftop food court again we will return.

Forgettable and standard American food at the Santa Monica Place food court. I had a cheeseburger and fries. My boyfriend had a sandwich and fries. Nothing special about the food or service. It was just satisfactory. The food court has plenty of seating either indoors or outdoors. The contemporary architecture is nice. I would like to give 2.5 stars but I feel that rounding off to a 3 would be too generous.

I am at the food Court a lot and decided to try Chic n Ribs today. I had my doubts because I have always noticed out of all the places there Chic n Ribs always had the least amount of people waiting in line. I ordered the half chicken and a double Order of broccoli. The chicken was ordinary and the broccoli was crunchy like it was never steamed. Brought the broccoli back and the staff gave me Mac and cheese instead. The Mac and cheese had no flavor! It was like baby food Mac and cheese. Not a sharp flavor. Very disappointed. Staff was very nice

I can see a theme going on in this cafeteria-like eatery: the food is not good and expensive. The service was excellent, but the food was really not good. The mac n cheese was dry and didn’t taste like mac n cheese. The ribs was also dry. We paid around $ 10 for the entrée or was it more? I can’t seem to remember how much they cost since I was so shocked with the quality of the food. It actually looked pretty good, but when we tasted it, it didn’t pass the quality test. I am not going to try anything else here again.

Way too overpriced for food court food. For $ 15 you can have lunch here, cafeteria style or you can go to a restaurant and get a waitress and service at any number of places in the vicinity. Their food tastes frozen to me and not too fresh. Nothing special, average american fare, meatloaf, chicken, potatoes and I have never encountered a friendly person working here. Maybe that’s why I just can’t get myself to go back.

GREATLOCATION, but bad food… Santa Monica Place is by far one of the nicest shopping area yet. With it’s great location right next to the beach and modern/contemporary architecture, it screams high-end stores! Unfortunately, this place seemed to have fallen short… My friend and I were just around the area looking for a place to eat, and we just ended up in the food court on the 3rd level. I noticed someone mentioned how the menus were on LCD screens that were difficult to read. I would probably say the same. I ordered the chicken with 2 sides: salad and mac ‘n’ cheese. The chicken was semi-cold and seemed as if it were sitting out the whole day. Next, the mac ‘n’ cheese was cold and not good at all. Probably the«best» thing that I had on my plate was the salad, but that’s not saying too much. Definitely not coming back…

After my 3 doctors appointments I needed some down time at the beach. I snagged up my Canon Rebel and headed out. Since I was in the area I thought I would grab something to eat at the mall. I’ve eaten at a few of the places in the new dining deck, with ZENGO being my favorite. However I have never tried anything in the food court. This space is huge with plenty of cool places to sit and take in the cool atmosphere of the deck. Right away I new I only wanted to get a sandwich, but at first glance I didn’t see a place to get one. This is when I saw Chick n’ Ribs. When I saw brisket on the menu I started to get happy, but they don’t have a sliced brisket sandwich and I wasn’t ready to drop big money for brisket at a bbq spot located a mall food court. NOPE not going to happen. I went for the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. I got my slaw on the side. The sandwich is served on a really soft cracked wheat bun. The sandwich was a decent size and the taste was good. The slaw was pretty standard, nothing fancy and to be honest this is how I love it. People tend to go over board when it comes to slaw, but not this place. The service was cool. The two ladies behind the counter were very helpful and answered all my questions. I was very happy with the sandwich and if in the area and in the mood for BBQ chances are I will pick this place. As far as BBQ spots on the westside go, I think this is the best. Hey it is no Woody’s or Phillip’s but in a pinch it will work just fine.

Disappointing. The display boards are all LCD’s and hard to read. Ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap special. They offered chips or a side for an extra $ 1. Staring at it on my plate, you couldn’t find any chicken in the cross section when they cut the wrap in half, but there were some nibbles here and there in the ends. Croutons added a crunch, but left no room for any chicken. When I made it to the cashier, she was typing in my order and about to tell me the total when she exclaims«OHSHIT! I have to get my parking validated!» and asks her coworker to finish charging me while she bolts out through the back. The same cashier had a hard time understanding the order in front of me. The customer was asking«refills?» when ordering a soda, but she didn’t understand her Spanish accent and just looked at her with a confused face. Pretty unprofessional. The bottom of the receipt said«Give us a Like on Facebook.» I think not.

First time at the remodeled Santa Monica place and we were impressed with their dining options. Located in the food court, I had to give this place a try cause I love my ribs. Well, the mashed potatoes with gravy and cole slaw were very good. The ribs… not so much, but okay for a food court. There’s plenty of seating, but I didn’t realize they had an outdoor deck. You can get a glimpse of the ocean from some tables, so check that out.

Came here this weekend to check out what the fancy new mall looked like. Big mistake! While yes, the design is pretty modern and the food court is super high-tech looking and it’s on the roof, blah, blah, blah… the options were very underwhelming and almost offensive. I never thought that I would wish there was a Panda Express or an A&W somewhere! I settled for Chick-n-Ribs because it seemed to have the best looking food. I was in a big group with a baby, so dining at the fancy wine bar or the other sit-down restaurants wasn’t an option. At first I was excited because I love BBQ. It looked pretty good from the display case and since it wasn’t a chain I was familiar with, I thought I’d opt for this over the super-mall chain Sarku. The prices were high… like BBQ joints around town not in a mall, kind of high. $ 16, to be exact. It came with two sides(mashed pot. and corn) and they were worse than the side dishes you get with your meal at the hospital. The potatoes were passable, but only because they tasted like the boxed variety you often see at the store. The chicken portion was big, but it was a little under-done. Undercooked chicken is gross. No ifs and or buts about that. The baby back ribs were the best part of the meal. Super tender and perfectly seasoned… the only problem was, it was the only decent part of the meal… I felt jipped. Did I also mention that the lady who rang up our orders yelled at me with a freaking bitchy attitude because SHE didn’t ring up one of our trays? I came back to the counter to get my aunt’s meal and she pulled it away and said«You didn’t pay for this.» I looked at her and said, well… I got 4 drinks and there were 4 trays and you only rang up 3? Since it was busy, I didn’t argue much. Instead, I paid for my last tray of food and while walking away, yelled to our table and said«That lady bitched me out because she didn’t ring up our last order, but it’s okay because she’s wearing a chicken hat and that’s embarrassing enough!» I’m never that childish and rude, but she pissed me off in a mall full of crazy people… Overall, the ribs were a 2.5 //the rest of the meal was a 2//the service was a big, fat ZERO.

When you have the word Chicken(or Chick) in your business name, you better make damn sure you are serving up some succulent delicious bird and not some dried out leathery stuff. That is all.

This is mall version of comfort food ala Koo Ka Roo, but in the new SaMo Mall. That said, check your receipt! I was overcharged, and I believe it was out of total laziness. A slight turn of the head would have shown the cashier the price for the 3 side sampler. She arbitrary chose three unrelated side dishes and charged me individually. What should have been ~seven or eight dollars was roughly twelve. That’s kind of a crappy thing to do to someone. I was trying to watch what I spend, and the food was punishing enough. Avoid the mac n cheese. Lardy icky.

I found the food to be a bit pricey, and they had some service issues. Hopefully things will be worked out, because chicken and ribs is a good combo.

I love the fact that they’re the only restaurant in the food hall that serves beer and wine! I got a few glasses from this place and it alleviated the long, annoying wait at the Kabob place next door.
