Bill Walter – Locksmith

I hired Bill to come out and key a door that had a vintage lock. Since I have owned the home, this door lock had never had a key, and I was super worried we would have to replace the entire lock, which was beautiful… BUT it was NO problem for Bill. He is kind, professional, fast, and his prices were incredibly reasonable. I have nothing but positive feedback– found him on Unilocal,and agree with all the other reviewers!

I needed a re-​key job done on a new condo. Mr. Walter showed up on time, very organized, and ready to do the job. He is friendly but also got the job done quickly. He even replaced a couple of incorrect screws. He made me four copies of the new key that all work much more smoothly than the previous set.

Bill was terrific. He came in well under the estimate due to the kind of locks we had. He could’ve charged us the estimate (we already seemed reasonable) and we would’ve never known the difference. We would strongly recommend him.

Tremendously ethical and honest man. He came to my house to fix a problem and because it took very little effort on his part, he refused to charge me anything! Unbelievable.

Bill’s invoice says «My goal is to make your locks work so well, you actually notice them; and to do this at a fair and reasonable price.» Bill definitely accomplished his goal. My door is so much easier to use now that it’s like brand new. To other Unilocalers I say: do not waste your valuable time trying to fix it yourself or looking for another locksmith. You can count on Bill to get it right the first time and his work is guaranteed.

Never thought I would write a review on a locksmith! I emailed Bill to request an appointment and we started an email chain back and forth to diagnose the problem. He was so helpful in the emails that my decision to hire him was easy. When we did settle on a time for him to come out and fix a doorknob, he was very pleasant and patient. It was such a quick fix (just needed oil) that he only charged me for the service call. It may have been the most expensive bit of oil ever, but I gladly paid because I was so happy with his customer service. I will continue to use Bill for any future locksmith needs!

I haven’t had Mr. Walter actually do any work for me but I had to write this rare review. I emailed Mr. Walter on a Friday night as my lazy way of getting in touch with a locksmith to re-​key my house, not expecting an answer until a week later. Mr. Walter emailed me back in less than an hour and although he was not available at my requested time, he referred another locksmith wholeheartedly. Now I want to find an excuse to pay him for locksmithing!

Wow… this is the guy I’ll be hiring for all my locksmith needs. Just talked to Bill on the hpone and he’s knowledgeable and friendly. He helped talk me through to figure out what kind of lock I needed and with a quick call to Baldwin on Monday I’ll be all set. I called Bill after another company no showed on their appointment to take my lock out of the door and write down the model number for a modification I need made. The fact that Bill helped me over the phone shows what a great guy he is. He seems to actually love what he does… he knows so much about locks, it’s crazy. Can’t wait to hire him to install the modification once it’s done!

The quality of service provided by Bill Walter is hard to find today in West Los Angeles. He’s fantastic. Prompt, considerate, thorough, He had some great ideas to help make my home safer. I was truly shocked at how reasonable he was. For all that he did and provided I really expected to pay twice as much and I’m sure if I’d used someone else that would have been the case. If you need a locksmith Bill should be your only choice. Thank you Bill!

Bill is exactly how you wish every business would be: clear, friendly, skilled, and determined to get it right. The cylinder in my lock shattered. Luckily, I caught him right when he had a gap in his schedule, so he was able to come right away. He replaced the cylinder and keyed it for our current keys. He then ensured that everything with the door and the lock was functioning as smoothly as possible so the cylinder wouldn’t shatter again. He charged a reasonable price for the service and the parts. I can’t imagine a better experience.

I have had the opportunity to use Bill Walter’s service 4 times in the last few months at my office as well as my home. I am very pleased with the service. He was on time and the quality of the service was outstanding. I wish all the people I do business with were as nice, honest and hard working as Bill. I highly recommend Bill for anyone who has a problem with a lock.

I wouldn’t have written a review except that it is rare for someone to stand behind their work these days so I wanted to acknowledge integrity. Bill was referred to me when I told a friend that I needed help opening an antique etagere that I purchased at an estate sale. I called him and he set up a time to come by. He was very courteous and prompt. Bill let me know that old locks that require a skeleton key were not his expertise but he’d give it a shot. He quoted a price for a service call that was very reasonable but said that there would be no charge if he was unable to unlock the cabinet.
Unfortunately, the lock would not budge after Bill spent an hour working diligently and utilizing every tool in his box. He didn’t charge me for coming out and referred me to another locksmith that he thought had more experience with antiques. Unfortunately, (I won’t mention any names) the others I contacted were much more expensive.
Bill came highly recommended to me. For everything but stubborn old antique locks, I have it on good authority that he’s the best. I wish that everyone had his work ethic.

Bill Walter is a true craftsman — honest, trustworthy, extremely knowledgeable, skillful and a pleasure to have around. He shows up on time, quickly figures out what needs doing and does it. There’s nothing he doesn’t know about locks and door hardware etc and I give him the highest recommendation possible.

Bill is one of those rare guys who takes pride in his trade and it shows. We had him re-​key all our locks after a recent construction project. Although we had to juggle a little on the time because his earlier project took longer than expected, he showed up at 7 pm on a Friday night and didn’t seem rushed or annoyed. He took his time and did everything with care AND was totally reasonably priced. I work with so many different vendors on our home that it is a true pleasure to find someone like Bill — professional, meticulous, fair and nice.

Bill is an angel living life as a locksmith. He cares so much and is so helpful and reasonably priced and reliable and has been doing this for a long, long time and knows his locks and keys. We had an semi emergency. A co-​worker locked himself in the bathroom at our office.
It was a grade 1. Store front lock. No problem for him. Glad I used Unilocal to find him.
