Academic Achievers Educational Services was founded by a former educator with three high achieving children, who realized that the way to academic success is by customizing preparation and making learning enjoyable.

Janis Adams, member IECA (Independent Educational Consultants Association), has taught both public and private high school in both California and Pennsylvania and is passionate about education.

Her two sons and daughter have attended Harvard-​Westlake, Loyola High School, UCLA, Harvard University, Cal Berkeley, Cambridge, Harvard Kennedy School, and USD School of Law.

Kinder prep was the best experience for my child. The camp helped her transition well from pre K to K. I highly recommend this program.

Thank you Academic Achievers and Dr. Lauren for helping prep my son for his college entrance exams. His SAT score jumped OVER 300 POINTS (and, no, that is not a typo!) and he got a respectable 30 on his ACT.
For us, I think the formula was tutoring onsite (less distractions), taking the offered practice exams (which is a must!) and the connection he had with Dr. Lauren (who obviously knows what she is doing!).
Yes, it was a bit pricey, but the improvement was impressive and the boost to his confidence and self-​esteem was priceless!

My family and I have been using Academic Achievers for a couple years now. My brother first used it to prepare for the ACT. It really helped him not only for the test but he excelled in school altogether. He loved his tutor and their facilities are nice and in a good neighborhood so my mom always felt safe dropping him off for an hour or so.
Recently, I’ve been looking into grad school. Since I’ve been out of school for a couple years, I wanted to brush up for the GRE. Having been in the building so often, I knew this was one of their services. I’m about halfway through a math GRE prep course. I’ve taken a couple practice tests on my own and have greatly improved since my first practice test. Couldn’t be happier with Academic Achievers.

The tutoring here might be fabulous but what good is it if it’s $ 100 an hour to teach an eight year old kid basic math? The woman who answers the phone is so condescending and the prices are so high I guess this place is for the wealthy north of Montana crowd only!

Our high school (now college) daughter loved Academic Achievers. Her devoted tutors contributed to her understanding and success in school and on standardized tests. Academic Achievers promoted and reinforced her understanding of difficult concepts for school classes. Our daughter had a real connection and a genuine fondness for her tutors. Test prep sessions gave her added confidence that helped her approach the SAT and AP Subject tests with more poise. We’d HIGHLY recommend Academic Achievers to our friends, and we know that our youngest daughter will be in good hands, as her sister was, when that time soon comes too.

WE started with Academic Achievers over a year ago with the goal in sight of helping my son be as prepared as possible for the ACT. From the very first moment, the process felt organized and run by experts in the field. My son took both the SAT and ACT practice tests, although he scored similarly on both, the expertise of Janis and Dan in particular guided us toward the test that was best for him based on where he got his right and wrong answers (something I would have never known!). Dan began coming to our home, always punctual, once a week to begin test prep and he absolutely transformed my son from a weak test taker to a strong and confident one. Dan understands how to communicate effectively with teenagers, while still focusing on the material at hand. He is unfazed by the ups and downs in demeanor, and expertly redirects and builds confidence. Over a year my son’s ACT score improved by 4 points! Reading in particular went from a 17 to a 25! It was incredible. This improvement has made all the difference in terms of which tier of colleges are now a good fit. I can’t wait for my second son to begin the process with Dan as well! You can’t put a price tag on opportunity.

I worked in the same building as Academic Achievers and really got to the know the business as well as the owner, Janis. I am extremely impressed with the work they do. They have a top notch facility with exceptionally talented teachers. A little known gem! I always noticed that the kids have so much fun (giggling, high fives, dancing), while learning, it is so powerful. They seem to go beyond the call of duty to provide responsive service (such as tracking down where a friend’s daughter could take the SAT on the westside when they forgot to register!).
My daughter is too young but I will be taking her to their KinderPrep group when she’s 3. They have a cool, colorful facility in the Colorado Center in Santa Monica, and in the summer they work with small groups of children outside in the play area, which I love! I can’t wait to enroll my daughter!

I was an above-​average student. I had no idea how I would score on my ACT, and after taking a practice test I realized I needed help. I needed to learn some strategies for taking (and finishing and scoring high) on this test. Especially since these scores affect acceptance into schools. My tutoring helped me know what to expect, score higher in my weak areas and stay on target during the actual test. All in all, well worth the money.

A couple of weeks ago I was down in Pacific Palisades visiting my daughter and her family. She absolutely raves about the tutors from Academic Achievers she hired for her two kids this past year, and they clearly have made progress — they seem happier and more confident these days. That really pleases their grandma!
We stopped by the Academic Achievers office in Santa Monica for a study guide or something one of the kids needed, and I was so impressed with the facility. It’s cheerful and bright, very kid-​friendly, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. I don’t believe we have a tutoring company with this super high level of professionalism in the Bay Area — I think Academic Achievers would be just as wildly successful up here as they are in LA… just in case they’re thinking of expanding!

A dear friend needed some extra help for her daughter who struggles with math. Super smart child in many ways but struggling in this arena. Academic Achievers was professional and highly personalized. The tutor she was matched up with enthusiastic, had a degree from an Ivy League institution and was creative in finding ways to make math more accessible to her. I know that an Ivy League degree isnt everything– but when you match that up with the great company itself, their professionalism and the quality of help she got, we could not have been happier. I was drafted to do research and pick a spot so– all in all would happily recommend to another family!

My oldest niece was searching for additional college prep tutoring, especially with her SAT’s coming up and had tried several different alternatives. I stumbled on Academic Achievers almost by accident and decided to contact them. The staff was great, answering all my questions and laying out the approach and teaching methodologies. We brought her down for a visit and she clicked instantly with the folks there. More than anything else, I think the big plus is getting the students excited about learning and understanding and not just memorizing answers to standardized tests. It’s a great facility and you really can’t beat the neighborhood. She lives a bit away, but taking turns commuting her to her classes was worth it. Now she wants to be an Ivy League achiever. I’m not sure my sister in law is thrilled at the upcoming tuition, but we’ll make it work because the folks here helped make it possible. Five stars from me!

Hands down the highest quality tutoring experience I’ve had — on either coast. Each of the tutors I was offered was an expert in the relevant field, with advanced degrees from elite institutions. The ones I ended up working with were not only knowledgable, but also passionate, engaging, and accommodating. The management went above and beyond in working around travel and exam schedules. They really are the best of the best!

It is not the way you do business here now days!!! Just called to get some info. and talked to a lady there, who hang up on me after i asked about their prices, which was $ 120 an hour for a private tutoring of high schooler, which i was not even interested in the beginning. After, i mentioned nicely that it is overpriced, and i was interested in SAT prep, she said thank you and hang up on me??? I am in shock and speechless!!!

My kids had two different tutoring companies. The other one was much less expensive, however my kids told me I was wasting my money if I didn’t use Academic Achievers. They really liked how efficient their tutor was. He taught them much more then what he was suppose to. They learned time management and respect. Each session was tailored to their specific needs. In just a few lessons I saw huge improvement. My kids even saved up some allowance money for their tutor. I was amazed at how seriously they took their education because of their positive experience. I highly recommend theses guys.

I made an online inquiry about SAT tutoring. I received a call requesting my location and school location of my daughter. Once I provided the information which is Inglewood, CA. I was informed the program would not work for me since it’s on the Westside. I was aware of the location when I made the inquiry. The website should state they have no interest in students from certain areas.

It has been a great experience working with Academic Achievers! Your
company is the best tutoring company I’ve ever worked for in terms of
flexibility of scheduling, amount of pay for services, and level of professionalism
between all the employees. I wouldn’t be leaving the company if I didn’t have to for dental school.
