Santa Fe Sage Inn

The staff at check-​in was amazing, friendly, and extremely accommodating. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable. The staff at the bar/​dining room was very friendly and engaging. A very enjoyable experience. Will definitely stay again.

Rooms were really small.
We booked on hotels tonight and were not given a choice of 2 doubles or King, got 1 double. And there was literally no room on floor for pallets for kids. If you have kids, and need lots of room you should probably not stay here.
Called the front desk and they upgraded us to a suite but it was still very small for a suite. Even gave it to us at no additional charge bc there were no other rooms.
Rooms were decorated in southwestern décor. Comfortable but very small.
Breakfast was typical carb fest. Things were so far spread out we didn’t see oatmeal or waffles until we had already eaten muffins and bagels. Boiled eggs were only protein option.

Very nice for a motel. Good quality for a good price. 3 stars because Maid came knocking on our door at 7:30 am. Waking us up after a long day. When we told her we don’t need our room clean she came back knocking 10 min later! So we told her once again bay we didn’t need our room clean. She then came back once again 10 min later! Disrespectful and rude. Not to mention we had the do not disturb sign on the door! Other than that, good experience.

I wound up having to spend Thanksgiving here alone and stayed at the Sant Fe Sage Inn for 2 nights. The food is excellent, the chef is a very nice lady that comes out and talks to the customers. Jessica the bartender is very nice and makes excellent drinks. The rooms are nice, everything works and they are decorated with Santa Fe style furniture.
The chef get the vegetables from the local farmers market and the price of the room was very low.
I feel like I have found a secret place that I can tell friends about.

Unfortunately, the wifi is so bad that it’s impossible to actually use it to do anything. If you’re coming for business and need to do any work at the hotel, look elsewhere. And the TV picture quality is so bad that it’s no distraction from the bad wifi. 4 PM check-​in time is inconvenient. Free shuttle to downtown is nice, and the rooms were fine. Breakfast was minimal but OK.

We saw the pictures of the motel on line and it looked like a nice place. First off I will start with the good. Everyone at checkin was very nice and helpful. We had dinner and drinks in the restraurant which was great. Now for the bad. It was raining VERY hard and when we used our keycard, it didn’t work so we had to drive back to the lobby and get a new keycard. Irritating to say the least! The room was VERY small with large furniture with a king bed. The bathroom was old and when you shower, the tub filled up. The TV had terrible reception. The rooms need an update for sure. Of course it was not cheap staying here because this is Santa Fe. Next time we visit here we will not stay here.

Very worn. Breakfast little better than a Super 8 or something of that ilk. Front desk service very snippy. Much better choice nearby is Santa Fe Motel & Inn. Awesome home-​cooked breakfast there and friendlier staff for about the same price.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We should have stayed at our friends’ home as they requested, but we didn’t listen. This place is one to avoid. Apparently the motel has recently been purchased by a new owner. Customers are not allowed in the actual lobby — by the way, the pictures below ARE NOT PICTURES OF THIS MOTEL — but have to check in through a plexi-​glass window. When I asked why, I was told those were the new rules by the new owner but the (very inexperienced) employees denied there were any safety issues — just that the new owner wanted it that way.
The threadbare and stained towels didn’t bother me, but the lack of fitted sheets on our beds made our stay extremely uncomfortable. There was no soap or shampoo in the rooms and when I asked about this the next morning, I was told we could have asked for these items from the (locked) lobby — through the plexiglass window I guess.
Perhaps worst of all was the lack of parking. When we woke the next morning, our car was completely blocked in by other cars in the parking lot. We couldn’t even get the back of our van open, one truck behind us was so close. We left more than an hour later than we wanted to because we couldn’t get our car out until the other car owners came down. (The motel didn’t take down license plate numbers, so the other vehicles’ owners could not be reached.)
Do yourself a favor and stay across the street at the little inn. The price there was CHEAPER than this Motel 6 and our stay across the street several years ago was much, much better.

My friend and I stayed with a group which had prepaid. B IG MISTAKE! Our first room had no wifi or tv service, so we made a stink and moved to a room with no fridge. It was very small. If one person sat in the one chair, she had to move for the other person to get to the one trash can. The bedside lamp didn’t work, so I crawled around to find the cord and plug. BIG MISTAKE TWO! Big pieces of food and other stuff showed noone had really cleaned in quite a while. Lamp still didn’t work. Ground floor rooms were noisy, since we could hear every movement over us.
It does have a good location, comfortable bed and decent breakfast.

Quiet, nicely appointed room. Good a/​c. Great location, easy walk to center of town. Very friendly and helpful front-​desk staff. Whole Foods in easy walking distance. Trader Joe’s a few minutes down the road. Breakfast included – a wide array of normal breakfast foods, including waffle-​maker, hot and cold cereal, hard-​boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins/​bread/​bagels, etc. Suggest you book room in the back and upstairs for perhaps the most quiet. Would definitely return.

This is definitely a motel. I’m really disappointed. Like most people who saw the place online is it’s so deceiving. I’m paying about $ 99 a night and I am staying 5 nights. The room smells like someone had been smoking in it. It’s a non-​smoking room. The cable doesn’t work but the guest service directory says it has 50 Cable channels. I can only view 5 channels and I need rabbit ears to watch it because it’s so distorted. The WIFI is extreme slow. I’m working here for week. Majorly upset about that! Oh, I can hear the family above me walking around and the shower going durning the night when trying to relax and in the morning when I’m still asleep. The pool area is what you would expect from a 1950’s motel. From the picture on their website it looked ok. As one person wrote, it’s the size is a kidney. My room is small we could barely move around reach other. If I wasn’t working in my room the majority of my stay this would not be an issue. But since I have to work in my room, having the TV cable and Internet work in 2015 is a must. If these amenities didn’t work they should not advertised these amenities as part of their package. I would have chosen a different place

This place is great for the price in Santa Fe. The beds were super comfortable and rooms very clean. My only tip would be to ask for a room on the second floor. The floor creaks whenever that person moves around so if you’re a light sleeper like me it can make for a restless night.

fantastic hotel all around for the price. You can’t beat it anywhere else in town. Its location is great with a free shuttle into town on the hour and p[pickup 10 after the hour. Very friendly and efficient at the desk. the rooms are clean and spacious. only complaint would be the leaf blower starting at 6 a.m. from the parking lot at whole foods right next door. the trade off is we love having access to new leaf.
I would recommend this highly and will stay in this hotel anytime we return to santa fe.

The photos looked so great! But really, it was just like a little bit nicer Super 8.
The water in the bathroom sink was either ICE cold or SCALDING hot. I put the handle right in the middle and stuck my hand under and burned it pretty badly.
The room wasn’t really that bad, just definitely not anything fancy at all.
The front desk guy wasn’t rude, but just SUPER slow at checking me in and seemed completely clueless about how anything worked. The location is right across from the Railyard businesses, but a pretty long walk to the plaza. For $ 20 or $ 30 extra you can get something way nicer and closer to the plaza area…

Exceeded expectations. I got it for $ 65 a night, super clean, a small workout room, next to Whole Foods, charming, and a 15 minute walk to the plaza. What a steal. It’s a basic hotel, so not fancy, but can’t beat it for the price.

Not too impressed with the hotel this time around. The first room we were assigned smelled like sewage. The front desk reassigned us a room even though they were «sold out». At 8:30 AM there was no hot water for a shower. I mentioned this to the front desk and got the response, «yes, we’ve been monitoring this all morning.»
It seems to me that the management lacks an understanding of what the term «accommodation» means.
Even though I have stayed here previously, and have recommended this hotel to others, I probably will not again.

I can’t say enough good things about this little gem of a motel. Clean, staff is friendly and very helpful. There’s a small pool, laundry room, and workout equipment on the premises.
Located on a main road, you’ll be able to walk to the Plaza, Railyards, and local shopping and restaurants in the area. If you would rather not walk, there’s a shuttle to take you to various points of interest around the city. Next door is a Whole Foods, where you can stock up on food and drinks for your room, if you get tired of eating out.
Overall, a decent, clean, place to stay with helpful staff and great room rates .All of those that worked at the front desk were terrific, particularly in pointing out areas of interest. Kudos to Shaun, who was nice enough to drive me in the bus to the Audubon Center, and picked me up when I was ready to return to the motel. Definitely, the staff at the Sage performs their duties above and beyond all expectations.

On our way back from Taos, hubby & I took the high road thru Chimayo down to Santa Fe sightseeing. Beautiful drive. When we did get to Santa Fe it was already late in the day so we decided to just spend the night b4 making the drive back to OKC.
Over margaritas, I looked to my trusty Unilocal friends for some advice on where to stay, as the El Rey Inn we stayed at on the way up, turned out to be a horrible experience :(
We choose the Santa Fe Sage Inn, as they were right down the street from where we wanted to be & they had a Unilocal discount ad posted $ 99 for $ 136 ;)
We booked online, the checkin was simple, easy as pie, we were quickly given a room on the second floor with a awesome view of the mountains which was very cool ;)
The room was quant but with a giant flat screen, good organic bath products, & was sparkling clean lol
BTW, Sage Inn is less expensive than the El Rey Inn that was almost $ 200 a night right down the street. (a sleepless horrific night from hell)
The bed was super comfy & the pillows were actually great! Usually the pillows all suck so I always travel with my own pillow. But, these pillows were awesome! Big pillowy plus! :)
I loved the southwestern chic Indian wool blanket on the bed with matching throw pillows. Very cute & kept us super warm on a cold winters night ;)
It’s conveniently located right next door to Whole Foods, tons of great restaurants, close to all the places we like to go on the square, & St Francis Cathedral.
There is also a gym, outdoor pool & very cool little laundry facility on site that came in really handy as we had already been on the road a week with tons of stinky laundry from skiing, hiking, running from bears… that’s in another review. lol
But, that BED! We were so comfy in that bed we decided to sleep in the next morning, till the maid banged on the door & woke us both up :(
Guess she didn’t see that DO NOT DISTURB sign. Oh well.
We needed to get going anyway ;)
Breakfast was included but, ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz, we slept thru that :) However, the coffee they provided, that we made in the room was really good :)
Check out was a breeze, pretty much a flawless stay, even though we only stayed one night, but I would def stay again in the future ;)
Other than the maid that couldn’t read «Do not disturb» it was a Unilocaltastic stay!

This is a fantastic hotel for the price and location. It’s in a great location, close to the main square so you can walk, or there’s even a free shuttle than will take you to and from the square that runs all day. There’s also a Whole Foods Market next door which is super convenient.
There’s free hot breakfast in the morning, free wifi internet in the rooms, and there’s free delicious cucumber, lime or lemon water in the lobby, in additional to hot tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and fruit.
There’s a pool, but I didn’t get to use that. And the rooms are decorated in a cute southwestern motif.
There are also good deals on the rooms, so look for one. You get good bang for your buck here if you find a great deal!

Honestly, what the hell.
There were so many great Unilocal reviews, so after my friend booked this place for the weekend, I was stoked to go. My friend thought it was going to be «swanky», which, I will tell you right now — it is not. It is the opposite of swanky. It is stanky.
Our room was dark and dank. I didn’t want to touch any of the fixtures. Another reviewer said that this was a revamped Motel 6 — I just say it pretty much IS A Motel 6. I don’t think I’m spoiled or anything, either. I’ve stayed in modestly priced hotels and I’ve stayed in exorbitantly priced hotels. I can get behind both. This one just sucked. We paid in advance for two nights but left after one, losing our investment on the second night. We didn’t care — that’s how much we didn’t dig it.
Best thing, by far, was the front desk service. They were very genuine, polite, and helpful. But I’d never stay here again. Like, ever.
