The young kid they have working here is a joke ! The owner is an idiot who sells bibles from different religions in the front office’ dumb little girl working the desk doesn’t know shit about customer service’ went for a oil change an free tire rotation’ took my own oil and the kid was still trying to sell me there oil’ after that he told me I might need new spark plugs’ I laughed and told him I didn’t I need him to check my plugs, after he rotated my tires I left home and my car was running lumpy, I pulled over and saw I was missing my 2 nuts to the tire’ they fucked up my rim’ so fuck this place’ there crooks in Church clothing

So here’s our story… my wife had a bad situatuon at the other location last week. When her car was over heating by her work cause her radiator cap had disappeared. George from this location came out fixed her car and checked it throughly to make sure it was safe to drive. He was great he explained everything and was very apologetic over the situation even though it wasn’t his fault. Well we find ourselves her today cause her car has been leaking oil since that day. Cause of work she wasn’t able to bring it in till today. They diagnosed her problem as an oil pan leak and even though her car wasn’t leaking before they did the oil change we have to pay to fix it. The Santa fe Springs location gave us a discount and George went through all the problems and explained it to us… really wish I could go to Downey and bitch for a refund on this!!! But yes my wife has a new set of mechanics… these guys are great. This is worth the few extra miles to come here. Ask for George he is a honest mechanic in this world, it was nice to finally find one.

This place is ridiculous, I set up an appointment 3 days in advance for a simple oil change and then when I get there they tell me that they can’t do it because they have a lot of cars to work on and that they don’t even take appointments when the lady even made it for me over the phone. What kind of mechanic shop doesn’t even take appointments. What is the point of setting an appointment when I get there and they tell me that they don’t even make appointments. Very unprofessional…

Came in for a patch to fix a flat tire. I brought it back to fix another puncture in the same tire that I found about 10 min later. It was about 6:05pm by the time I came back so the guys already closed up shop but they reopened the door to fix my tire — no extra charge.

BEWARE! This place is a complete rip off! I brought my car in to have the air fixed and they quoted me $ 600 worth of replacements — basically the whole system. Two months later the air went out and I brought it back and I was told that it was a leak on the «Other side» that I needed to replace a hose. He said he would have to get a price quote and call me back, HE NEVER DID! I was stunned that he didn’t offer to repair it being that he supposedly replaced the entire system two months prior.
Secondly, In the middle of our Air situation, I had brought my vehicle in because it was making a bad noise, first they called and said we needed to replace my catalytic converter, then he called back saying «bad news» we have to replace both, he said that he could use a «general» catalytic converter and it would be so much cheaper and we approved the work, 1 day later (after no calls) I called back to see what was up and he told me that the part they put in didn’t work and he has to order originals from Mazda and they are in high demand because these are going out everywhere and quoted me an exorbitant amount $ 3000 to replace them. So needless to say 4 days later, $ 3000 later after many many calls I finally got my car back. Now less than a month later the sound is back and the new mechanic said my Catalytic Converters didn’t need replacement.
Also, when I was test driving the car with the mechanic, I shared how upset my husband was with the run around that we felt we were getting and he began to get upset with me because he hates how people think that they know better than the mechanics. I could see he was becoming upset I felt completely uncomfortable and didn’t want him get upset at me while I was in the car.
WE WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER COME BACK TO THIS GARAGE! They lie, cheat and steal.

Just came in to get an oil change I asked the guy if he can take the front wheel off of my car so that he can see if I needed break pads in the front he says «yeah sure I got you boss don’t worry about it we do a full inspection» then about 10 min later he comes in asking me if I have a mechanic I said «no but sometimes I change my own brake pads because it’s easy» He then says «your just trying to hustle me huh?» I said «umm no I just try to save money» he then turns around and says «ok sir I’ll be right away with that oil change» while walking away… Very disrespectful towards me and I asked his partner if he was mad at me or something? His partner which I think is the manager or supervisor «Cruz“then asks me «so when are you going to buy those tires?» Completely changing subject… I then asked if my brakes were fine and the guy working on my car said «I’ll be right away with that oil change» and smiles at me. I then said «wow ok thanks» then as a slap in the face he says «I’m gonna be real rich soon doing a bunch of oil changes all day»… After giving me back my keys and walking away… Yeah the 19 bucks for an oil change is nice but I refuse to get treated like that at any type of business establishment. They totally lost a client today and any recommendations to any of my friends.

So my car needed a front end alignment, I found a coupon in the penny saver for a computerized front alignment for 39.99 which is a very fair price. I called to be sure there was not a long wait. So I ended pulling in and telling them I needed that alignment. The manager sends worker to bring in my car. Worker took off in my car for 5mins without my permission. I asked the manager why he drove off in my car? He said he needed to know which side the car pulled too… This was very unprofessional. The computer alignment tells you all the info you need to fix the alignment. I felt uncomfortable after this scenario happened so I kept a good eye on my car while they worked on it. So they lifted my car on the machine, and as they started working on my car I noticed they did not use the computer equipment as you are supposed to. The worker and the manager eye balled my alignment without any professional tools or equipment. I asked if they were going to use the computer to straighten my tires. His response was «I don’t need to I am a professional I been doing this for years I know what I am doing…» I knew then and there I had come to the wrong place. He insisted that I needed a camber kit to finish my alignment which I know is bullshit because I needed to fix the toe on my car not camber. I asked that he used the computer to fix my car since the coupon clearly said «Computerized alignment!» They then proceeded to lower my car down and drive it off the lift. He parked it and said take your car we can’t do the alignment without me buying a camber kit. He kept saying he is a professional and I didn’t know shit! Well he clearly didn’t know I have experience in auto mechanics and have worked with equipment for alignments. I know right off the start this guy and his worker were corrupt. They did not once bother to use the proper equipment which I’m assuming was broken and they don’t want to fix. If you ever decide to go here be prepared to file a police report because these crooks will fuck you over!

Reasonable prices!!! I brought my car in to M&R several times for repairs I received the best customer service from Cruz. After taking my vehicle to different shops and always leaving with the feeling of getting rip off I had lost the hope of finding a shop that was trustworthy. Not only have they made my car work like new after getting my transmission work they sold me tires at a great price. I have recommended them to family, friends, and co-​workers everyone was pleased with them. I will continue to recommend to others. Cruz and several workers took the time to clearly explain everything in detail. Would highly recommend to anyone.

**WARNING** I brought my vehicle in for a Transmission flush and inspection. They (Cruz) up sold me to replace spark plugs and explained I needed engine mounts. I replaced spark plugs and said i would come back to replace mounts. Drove off the lot and my vehicle broke down. I had it towed back and Cruz explained I now needed a new transmission at 2,500 dollars, but they would not have the transmission available until Thursday (3 days away). I said to hold off, I needed to think about it. After getting advice from others I decided it was too expensive and i read their poor Unilocal reviews. I called the shop back and told Cruz i would have my car towed out and repaired else where. He demanded i pay them something. He said they already started preparing my car for the transmission. I knew he was lying, because i had just driven by on my lunch break and seen my car sitting out there. I explained that i gave no such permission and refused to pay anything. I then started to get several phone calls from different employees giving me false names and hanging up on me. When i went to pick up the vehicle i had to call the police for assistance. The police caught them in several lies and made them return the vehicle. When the police walked around to the front of thr car they noticed my cars axles had been removed and my engine was basically gutted and parts were tossed into plastic bins leaving the engine sitting on just two pieces of wood. Nothing that would normally be removed for just a Transmission replacement. The authorities wrote out a long extensive police report for me and took several photos. The police, AAA tow guy and workers at the shop i ended up taking my vehicle to could not believe what had been done to my car and explained what was done to my car was done out of malice. With the photos I have taken, original work order and false work orders they created after, i am currently in the process of a lawsuit. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS.

So I went in for a basic oil change. That’s all I want. They did not ask me if I wanted a tire rotation and I did not request it at all. So much to my surprise when they lifted my car and started to take my wheels off. I went in and ask them why are they doing it they told me it was on the paper work so the manager asked the tech to get my paper work so he can show me. Yet he shows me it saying upon request for a tire rotation. I did not request it at all. They were digging to find issues and more work. So after I told the manager I did not request it he got in my face and said I better respect him… Wtf is that really now ur doing something illegal that was not on paper work to do. So he tells me to never go there again ok cool. So he tells me it’s ready for me to pay and starts going in on how to tell me how to talk to people. Are you for real you are working on people vehicles he needs a little work on customer service and to be informer on California state laws that protect us the consumer for shops like this. I ask to talk to his boss he said he is the only boss no one else I can talk to. So I tell him if I go to the bar I can report him and they will take it in there hands on what to do and his attitude changes… These are the kind of people that make customers afraid of the shops… No one should go to this shop until they become more for the customer and not for themselves…

Let me start by saying I have never given a bad Unilocal review, and if I could give this place 0 stars I would. I hope that anyone who even thinks of going to this place really checks other places more served to HELP a customer. That being said a month ago I went in and asked for a simple front tire to be patched up. 30 Mins goes by and they call me to the back shop. Upon which they have my car raised up, all 4 tires off and hood up. They continue to try and upsell everything and ANYTHING they can. They were very persistent and nice up until the point that I said I had no money for a brake job. They quickly put my car tires back together and off I went. This past weekend I went to get a brake job done, and my mechanic is taking of the nuts and they brake off not only one tire but BOTH front ones, he explained this shop unevenly put my tires back together and cross threaded the lug nuts and bolts. I contacted the manager and got the run around about him not being there, and said the blame was not them it was wear and tear of the car, but I personally have worked on my car before never had an issue and neither has it from WalMart. I never got a call back, I have both receipts to prove to them my claims and horrible customer service.

Came here for an oil change. They had reasonable prices, worked quickly and were very nice.
