Top A Lot Yogurt

I have a love hate relationship with Top a lot. I love that it’s close to my house but I dislike the lack of flavors and flavor choices most of the time. But twice I have been here and been super satisfied. What I’m not satisfied with is your customer service. I just returned home from your business with no frozen yogurt. Why you ask? Well please let me tell you. Your business states it is open until 10 pm. It’s a late closing which is nice to have as an option in SC. But I arrived seeing the same 6 flavors I have seen in the past, but that was ok by me. I put my yogurt in a cup and went to put toppings on. ALL the toppings except the dry ones were put away and stored in containers making it obvious not to use them because they were put away for the night. Your employee was on her phone in the back, I know this because I could see her behind the yogurt. I said to my boyfriend, all the toppings are put away I wonder if we can use them? I purposely said it loud enough and in a kind voice so your employee can hear. She never came out. In fact I never saw her except when she was on her phone. I put my yogurt cup in the garbage and walked out. When getting in my car I saw her come from the back.
Your business advertises that it is open and fully functional until 10 pm. This was at 930 pm and it was made very clear customer are not welcome and you are not wanting to make a sale.
Never again.

This is my favorite yogurt store in the Santa Cruz area. The always have a sugar free flavor that I can eat, and it is always good. The shop is clean and the owners are usually around taking good care of the customers. Outdoor tables too for hot weather. Lots of toppings too.

Always great toppings and unique yogurt flavors! The staff is friendly and willing to help. Awesome local place for fro-​yo.

It’s Thanksgiving Day, 8:30pm.
On a self-​indulgent whim I called to see if by chance Top-​a-​Lot was open?
The owner, who answered my call was just closing up BUT offered to stay there until I arrived so I could get my ‘yogurt-​fix’ !!!
If that doesn’t scream the spirit of LOCAL customer service & Thanksgiving I don’t know what would!!!
This is a small shop with a HUGE heart that we locals should be reaching out to support.

This is the worst yogurt shop I have ever been to. I hate to even say that but if I am not honest then what’s the point of Unilocaling? There are first of all not many flavors even offered. Every single one we tried was terrible. My daughter felt the same way and was spitting it out.
Thank god we just got several samples. The quality of the yogurt they use is just not there. SC being a small town doesent realize good quality since there’s only a few yogurt shops in town to draw your opinion from. Needless to say we won’t be back but am glad we got to try it here and give it a shot.

Of all yogurt places in the world… not here!
Yogurt tasted so weird! It was like sugar milk basically. Did not taste of quality at all! Toppings sucked and all the little candies and stuff were dried out cause they were old. Their berries you can tell we’re not fresh but rather frozen-​except for the strawberries. I decided to get euro tart flavored because I thought it would just taste plain.
tasted like Sierra mist and alka seltzer. I so had tried thencinnon roll before hand and it tasted like straight sugar. Doesn’t taste like yogurt, more like cheap ice cream from an ice cream truck. Go to yogurt island or something, this place does not cut it. Not a lot of flavored either.

Still totally loving this place since they opened. Great Tuesday/​Thursday BOGO deal until 7p.m. When they added squeezable tubes of Nutella to the assortment, I was set forever. Plus, they stock the highest quality whipped cream around.
Regarding yogurt flavors: I really only go for chocolate. The frozen yogurt is just the vehicle I use to get to the toppings. Hah.

I was looking for a frozen yogurt fix and was happy to find that Santa Cruz had a place similar to what I have near my home, a make your own yogurt sundae with toppings and pay by weight. The flavors were adequate but the place was seriously filthy. The containers containing the toppings were dirty, and the counter were covered with topping «debris» from previous customers. It was enough to make me lose my appetite.

Top a lot has anything and everything for your frozen yogurt. The staff is nice and the place is clean but most of all everything is so delicious

They always have a sugar free flavor, sample cups readily available, stamp cards, bathrooms, and service is usually friendly. Those are 5 things I find essential (in that order) for a frozen yogurt shop. Would give 5 stars but the yogurt melts too fast for my liking.

Friendly. A little dated. Could use a little facelift. They had six flavors to pic from but they where tasty. I would come back again.

Also its self service and you can freely try as much as ice cream you want and then choose your favorite one!

I’ve been to frozen yogurt places that had more yogurt selection. But the selection isn’t bad at all and they have some really good toppings. Also, the buy-​one-​get-​one-​free deal every Tuesday from 4 – 7 is amazing!

I’m spoiled because there are so many frozen yogurt places in San Jose that are both fulfilling and fun to enjoy it in; fun and upbeat atmosphere.
The place has 4 flavors: chocolate, cake batter, raspberry /​watermelon, and tart. I thought there would be more on the side but nope, that was it.
Yes, a rather large toppings bar but the brownies and Oreo crumbles tasted like it has been left out for many days. Not just that, frozen yogurt places generally have a huge toppings bar anyway. The second i checked in, saw the average 4 star ratings — I was left wondering why the entire time I was there.
Only one trash can and a few tables. There is a restroom and I must admit that the prices are fairly inexpensive. I think he paid $ 9 for 3 cups. At Yogurtland, it’s nearly $ 4 for just my selections alone.
Meh. Pass.

Excellent yogurt flavors — and the selection in toppings just blows any other FroYo place out of the water. The options keep going and going and going (even to behind the cashier — in the fridge).
I will be here quite often and I am in love!

No, seriously. I can’t eat at any other yogurt place anymore; I am so spoiled by Top-A-Lot’s selections! Hot fudge! Mini chocolate chips! Mochi! Oh my!
They have a rewards card that they stamp for every yogurt you purchase (which I may or may not have already gone through a few of) and a B.O.G.O. yogurt deal on Tuesdays/​Thursdays from 4 – 7, so there are many delicious ways to save money.
Lastly, their customer loyalty is unreal. Since I’ve been a frequent yogurt consumer, the owner recognizes me (I have no shame) and always goes out of his way to keep us happy– especially when we miss the happy hour by a little bit.
Go ahead… Top a lot… I know you want to.

Based on reading other Unilocal reviews and craving yogurt of the self serve variety in Santa Cruz, my boyfriend and I made this a stop on our way out of town. It’s a bit off the beaten path, if you are in town as a tourist, but at least it had plentiful parking in an adjacent lot.
The décor was simple and being that it was a chillier day and not crowded, we had plenty of room to sit and opted for one of the retro-​type booths. Fro-​yo in a booth-​how fun!
For the self serve variety of yogurt, I found the texture to be quite creamy, not too icey and not too artificial tasting either-​all definite positives in my book. The coconut was pretty amazing-​topped with chocolate chips and granola-​YUM!
Nice local stop for self serve fro-​yo and friendly staff to boot. Glad I know about this place now…

first off I will say that I have always loved the yogurt and toppings here.
but after seeing an employee dressed like she was about to go GOGO dancing in nothing but teeny tiny cloth shorts which looked like UNDERWEAR, HEELS, a spaghetti strap shirt, and apron, I have to say I completely lost my appetite!

I’m a big fan of Top A Lot – they’re a small, locally-​owned business that has great tasting, quality yogurt for a reasonable price – a nice selection of toppings as well!
The flavors always taste exactly like you’d expect (i.e. Blueberry cheesecake tastes like… blueberry cheesecake!), and the service is quick and easy.
Student discounts are given, and Tuesdays have special pricing – all good stuff!
Top notch!
