We are the «original» Ferrell’s Donuts and have been in businees for 40 years. Earnie Ferrell began operation in 1948, and I purchased his business in 1977 upon his retirement. In addition to 40 different donuts we specialize fresh roasted (All natural) turkey sandwiches. Tri-​tip and veggi sandwiches. A full assortment of bagels are available for our very popular egg, cheese, and your choice of meat on the breakfast sandwiches. We offer a very friendly staff, plenty of parking, and accept all credit and debit cards. If you desire a fast on-​the way-​to work/​school experience, please call ahead and wel’ll have your order ready and waiting for you.

I used to get donuts here and they tasted good. Always got a plain donut. Now the price went way up and they shrunk the size, it’s double in price and about 2⁄3 the size. And they taste really terrible and dry — they changed the recipe. Never again

They’re usually a decent place to get a donut. Although they’re a bit pricey. Its around a dollar for a donut. The service is good although one of the ladies that works there seems to have a bit of an attitude problem. Theres been a couple times I went to order things and they have run out by the time I get there. Today it seemed they were out of syrup for lattes and mochas. I found it a bit strange. Overall its a decent place, but nothing extraordinary.

We stopped here to pick up some sandwiches for the beach. There are only a few choices for sandwiches, but they will pretty much customize them to your liking. I ordered the carved turkey sandwich, and added avocado. It turned out to be pretty great. Because they don’t specialize in sandwiches, it does take a bit of time to get a few made.
Overall, I’d stop in again for a sandwich for the beach!

The service here is really friendly and the donuts are good. The real gem is their turkey sandwich on whole wheat. Huge, tasty pieces of turkey, fresh produce and cranberry sauce are all there. Easily the best place to grab a quick sandwich or donut on the way to work or when running morning errands.

Best coffee (vanilla nut) but really cold donuts. I just warm them up in the microwave and they taste better. My advice is arrive early! Like before 8am. Try the coffee though. They serve farmer brothers. I was gonna give them three stars for the cold donuts but the coffee makes up for it.

This place makes the best turkey sandwich in town. Real solid turkey with perfect fixings. They also offer a fri tip sandwich but I always get the turkey.

The coffee tasted like hot water. But the apple fritter was pretty good (not as good as ones I’ve had at the Mission @ Fair Ave. location, but good). Custard filled donut was also very good.
But either the coffee was off that day or they really need to do something about their coffee!

I love their apple fritters, My biggest temptation. Also special are the bagel breakfast sandwiches, with ham, cheese and egg. And, of course, for lunch, the turkey sandwiches. So much meat!

I’m visiting a friend who lives in something of a commercial desert, so this is the only thing strollable (that’s not a taqueria). The turkey sandwich was moist, but entirely devoid of flavor and somehow even the cinnamon donut was rather bland. I wish all donuts were so tasteless, they’d be easier to resist!

My most recent stop there was to pick up a few donuts for my boyfriend and I for breakfast. I got a chocolate bar and a chocolate filled. They were very dry and the frosting was very runny. Uck. Won’t be going here again. I’ll stick to the donut station.

I went here last week and had a great turkey sandwich and pleasant experience… went back this week and the lady at the counter didn’t ask what I wanted on my sandwich, griped nonstop about having to remake it and then intentionally overcharged me a couple of bucks for her trouble… not pleasant, not professional, not honest. To top it off the coffee was not good and my donut was just so so.
Santa Cruz has better sandwich shops and much better donut shops.

I honestly didn’t know it was possible to mess up donuts this badly. Bitter flavor, stale texture, yellow clumps of who-​knows-​what (flour?) throughout one of them. We had to throw most of them in the trash.

Cozy coffee shop/​diner charm to it. I do not have any memories of patronizing this place as a child, & so I form my opinion of it as an adult.
If you’re not a coffee snob and need a quick cup, it’ll get the job done. The treatment from the staff is acceptable.
The only time I will ever purchase something edible here was a sandwich. Now to be clear, finding a hair in my food (so long as it is not short & curly) will not deter me from eating it. It will, however, deter me from ever going back. The bread was dry anyways.
There simply is not enough redeeming qualities about this place to make me forgive the hair (s)-in-my-sandwich mistake.

Wah! I wanted to give them a better rating. Based on my childhood memory growing up two blocks away on 17th avenue, they would be a 4-​star rating just based on the doughnuts. My memory is of warm apple fritters amd custard-​filled maple bars. But the last donut I had there was so-​so. I’ll still go back and hopefully the doughnut will be like the one in my memory and I can update the rating. Sigh.

How you can have a donut be stale at 7:30 AM is beyond me. The coffee was stale tasting too and the service was slow. If this is «Originality» I would much rather have the «New and Improved» version.
Do yourself a favor and go to the Donut Station in Capitola.

That was me in high school, rewind to goth-​me hanging out with the old people, us all united by cigarettes, coffee, and sugar. It didn’t matter that I looked like Satan’s child, I was welcomed.
FFWD to me today (10+ years later). They STILL know me! I still drop by and get a donut when I’m in town seeing my parents, these donuts kick the living shit out of Krispy Kreme.
