Had a wonderful first experience at this bike shop! Nathan was beyond patient and helpful with my young daughter as she was deciding which cruiser to get.
Highly recommend!

Best bike shop in Santa Cruz, by far. No snobbery, great service, good products. They helped me pick out some shoes and a helmet that were right on budget. This is the place to go if you need bike help. Period.

Fantastic outfit and excellent customer service. I have purchased one new bike here and helped my brother with a repair. Reasonable, fast turnaround on their maintenance. Beautiful shop, too.

Scott and all the staff are passionate and well versed. Amazing touring selection and recommendations. Open to questions and laid back atmosphere makes you feel very welcome. Highly recommend.

I bought a bike here a couple months ago and only have positive things to say about this place. They have a fit studio upstairs so they can find the proper bike fit for you. The bike that I wanted was a size too big, but they easily made some adjustments to make my bike fit perfect. Then a couple weeks ago while I was riding by the shop I got a flat and even though they were about to close Matt changed my tube for me. This place rocks!!!

Great experience both times we’ve been there. Aaron was very helpful picking out our son’s bike; low key, but knowledgeable and really friendly. No SC bike snob attitude whatsoever. He had a lot of good ideas for teaching our 8-​year-​old son more about riding and getting our 3-​yr-​old started too. My son says «I liked Aaron because he gave me some tips and he was really nice.» We like the outdoor track and there’s shady parking too!

Great service Aaron helped me picked out my Liv road bike. I’m in love with it. I’ve gotten my other bikes worked on there, there service crew is wonderful. I’ve recommended countless friends to this place!

Great customer service. Got a flat tire and came to the shop. The service dept was backed up and at first was told they couldn’t get to my bike until later and it wouldn’t be ready until tomorrow. I would be on foot, which is not a big deal but I had errands to run. The guy at the counter could tell I was a bit distressed. He then told me they would change it right away. 10 mins later I was back on the road. I am super appreciative and I will never go to another bike shop! Super rad.

Bought a bike from these guys around Christmas time for my girlfriend. They were very helpful. Her bike had a few issues but they worked with us to get everything fixed, free of charge of course.
I’ve been itching for a new bike and finally decided to pull the trigger this week after a few months going back and forth. I walked into the shop knowing what bike I wanted, but ended up with a higher model after they had a great sale price on it. I couldn’t take it home as they were short staffed and a mechanic would have to cut the seat-​post for a custom fit, so we made an appointment for the next day. The owner of the shop (Aaron, who sold me the bike), personally showed up on his day off (Sunday) so I would be able to get it instead of waiting another week as they had some staffing issues. They also threw in a few discounts on top of my sale price.
Very helpful and honest, I will be doing all of my bike-​related business here.

I recently got a bike from my brother, who doesn’t have the time to ride or the space to keep it around these days, but it had been in storage for a few years before I received it. I asked some friends to recommend a bike service shop, as I wanted to get it inspected and also get a rear rack.
I rushed over there on a Saturday evening, as they’re only open until 5 of 6 on weekends, hoping to make it in time. With 10 minutes to spare before closing, Ryland was able to check it in for their basic service ($ 40, simple tune-​up, tires filled, brakes checked), and let me know it would probably be ready Tuesday or Wednesday of the coming week.
Fast forward to Sunday — I get a phone call from one of the guys to let me know the bike is ready and that they have replaced the worn brakes. I would have gladly waited until the following week, but early is even better!
The new brakes only ran me $ 25 on top of the service, and the service was great — tires feel nice and taut, shifting is smoother, and I now have a rack on the back for my East German saddlebags.
I wasn’t purchasing a bike, but the staff I encountered were very good-​natured and matter-​of-​fact about things. I felt like they took me seriously and didn’t dismiss just another «filthy casual».
Oh, I bought some reflective Velcro straps for my boots, and I left them when I paid for everything. I called a few days later to check, and the guy I spoke with remembered me. He met me in the front as I was walking in. Solid folks. I’ll probably be coming in again soon to put together a repair kit to go in one of the bags.

Great Service Again.
Was outside the shop, half hour early, with a flat, distressed.
Nate saw me pondering what to do for the next ½ hour, and offered to take the bike in, before they open, to inspect the troubles, while I go grab a bite to eat.
When I came back at promptly 10am, my bike was ready, and in perfect condition. Nate had also noticed I left behind my glasses and earbuds. Outstanding service, all round.

The Bicycle trip is my favorite bike shop in Santa Cruz. The staff are always friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The service department guys know what’s what, and no one is ever pushy or trying to upsell. These guys have worked on multiple bikes for me, and it has always been a good experience. I highly recommend this shop.

Great store– full of cool bikes and stuff. Sales people are really friendly/​helpful. The shop and staff are first rate. Plenty of parking and the neighborhood is bike friendly. I wish Unilocal would let me add stars to accurately rate this place :)

I recently moved to the area and had a horrible time finding a bike shop that actually cared to help with info on local trails and other local information.
These guys were exactly what I was looking for!
Upon walking in I was immediately greeted like running into an old buddy. Matt, who helped me, was incredibly informative and helpful. He took the time to explain local trails and even pulled them up on a computer and showed me some tips and tricks to find new trails on my own. I was taken by how helpful he was.
Further, I was shopping for a new bike. Being on a high travel Giant, which isn’t great for the area, they showed me the many options and even suggested a few other bikes that I might like. He had me try out a few bikes on their awesome little track so I could feel the geometry to gain an overall impression. Surprisingly I fell in love with the Yeti and I was informed they were having a Demo day with Yeti to where I could try one out!
Well, that was both a bad and good idea. Bad only because I fell in love with the bike and good because they have been great in getting my bike ordered, suggesting parts for it, trying on shoes, and pretty much every experience through the process has been pleasant.
If you’re looking for parts, mechanical work, a new bike, or even someone to go chat about bikes with, this is the place.
I read a few reviews that they can get busy and you can feel ignored, but being busy isn’t a reason to rate a shop badly, there is a reason so many people go here!

I recently purchased my second bicycle from this business. 15 years ago I bought my mountain bike from these folks. I brought my bike to get a tune up and buy a better 2^nd mountain bike. I appreciate all the employees I interacted with. Real people with a good attitude and an interest in what they are doing. Especially Aaron the manager as I had some special requests and was met favorably. I recommend this shop. whether you are buying a new bicycle (a wide range of types of bikes) or tuning up your old bike, or just good advice or service, or accessories. Thank you Bicycle Trip.

I called for an appointment to tune up my tandem bike. Nate asked if I could bring it by for a quick look to see if it needed something he could order in time for my appointment. It didn’t need much so Nate took it in on the spot and had it ready in a couple days. The price of parts and labor were very reasonable and the staff were attentive and nice.

Given that I’ve been looking mostly at Trek bikes, I figured I better give some other bike manufacturers a shot. Given that they seem to be a pretty prominent Giant dealer and also carry Cannondale, I figure I better come here. Unfortunately, given that the 2013 bikes have just been released, there wasn’t much inventory for 2013 which is what I was looking for. That said, the person who helped me was friendly and professional.
In addition, the shop itself is fairly large and well laid out with plenty of space to look at clothes, tires and other cycling related gear. I think this bike shop really is a great example of Santa Cruz’s relaxed but welcoming nature. I would definitely come back here if I needed to test ride more bikes as well as pick up some gear while in the area.

Tough one this, just got home with a really nice Elektra Cruiser bought from this very place. Prices were fine and the initial service was extremely attentive.
The reason I don’t give it 5 stars are the following.
1. The bike was brand new and in a box, they built it and there were already a few scratches on it which was a shame.
2. I got the distinct feeling that the more you spend the better the service, perhaps this was incorrect but it was an overriding sense I got.
3. Most common response to a question was ‘we’re out of stock of those.
So nothing really bad but there are purchases hat leave you elevated and purchase that leave you empty and this unfortunately became the later.

Months of lies and having to chase an unresponsive service department. I brought my bike in for a warranty service last July. After 7 months of hounding these guys I finally went and picked up my bike today. I never once received a call from their shop during this time, I had to continually call and call and call to even get a status update.
They said a replacement frame was being shipped (it never was) and that I could pick my bike up «Next week». Two weeks would go by and I’d call and get a «it’ll be ready next week», another two weeks would go by, I’d get some story of how the bike company was hard to reach and was being non-​responsive. Finally I called the manufacturer directly (using another bike shops rep line information), and found out that NO warranty case had ever been created on my bike. Supposedly at one point in this process they received a replacement frame (that too was cracked and had to be sent back) yet I’d think that to get a frame sent they’d have to have filed a repair claim. Nope. Nothing ever filed under my serial number.
After literally seven months of dealing with this, I reached my limit and went in and picked up my bike and am back at square one. I won’t ever do business with this company again and recommend that you don’t either.
