History

Established in 2010.

Rising Sun Dance & Theater fully emerged in 2010, but, like any dawning, it began years earlier, as Rivera Cook’s dance oriented company, Cook ‘n Company, developed a strong theatrical leaning. As words married movement, the performances became plays, until one day, the sun rose on a whole new focus on story, narrative, and message. Today, Rising Sun Dance & Theater grows its performances out of the lyrical and expressive foundation of Cook ‘n Company, and pairs dance with poetic prose, in fully scripted, stylistically unique danced theater productions.
