tl;dr: So often in «traditional» or western medicine settings, I feel like I’m at odds with my practitioners (either because they don’t like patients who ask questions, or because they’re hindered by the realities of institutional medicine despite their good intentions).
Dr. Rozenn, however, is exactly what you want in a healthcare provider – a deeply knowledgeable professional who listens, who takes you seriously, and who will work *with* you as a real mentor and collaborator. I feel incredibly fortunate to be (back) in her care.

Once upon a time, I used to tell people that Dr. Rozenn was so awesome, I drove all the way from San Francisco just to stay in treatment with her during the summers (when I otherwise wouldn’t have had to set foot in Santa Cruz).
Now, however, I can tell you that Dr. Rozenn is *so awesome,* I fly all the way from Boston for acupuncture treatment. Seriously: I left my grad school program, moved back home to Boston, and never had to set foot in Santa Cruz ever again. I was one happy, repatriated urban easterner…
…until a couple of years later, when a confluence of forces (including a nasty head injury) sent my body into a downward spiral. If it’s the third piece of a hypothalamus-​pituitary axis (e.g., HPT, HPO, HPA), mine currently isn’t working right – and if you’ve never been on bad terms with your thyroid, adrenals, and ovaries (or testes, as applicable), allow me to summarize: endocrine dysfunction *sucks.* It sucks *a lot.* In fact, the only thing that sucks more than having several concurrent endocrine problems is trying to assemble a team of western practitioners who a) take you seriously, and b) are willing/​able to view your body as a set of interconnected systems, rather than as isolated specialty areas.
Back in July, I was lamenting to my partner about how I wished I could go down to Santa Cruz, curl up on Dr. Rozenn’s Cedar Street doorstep, and plead «OMG FIX ME» as soon as the clinic opened.
In October, it dawned on me: y’know, I actually could just make an appointment and go down there. And in November, my partner and I *both* entered treatment with Dr. Rozenn – he as a new patient, & I as a returning one. [Full disclosure: My partner lives within driving distance rather than flying distance, but he’s not local either.]
When we arrived, it was almost like I’d never left: the only things that had changed were my body (ugh) and the pictures of babies born to Dr. Rozenn’s patients, which now span more than half a dozen bulletin boards in the clinic’s public areas. Much as I’d hoped, Dr. Rozenn approached my present-​day problems with the same mixture of knowledge, wisdom, pragmatism, and humor that she’d used to approach my care in the past. Though I’m still getting bounced from doctor to doctor in the western system, apparently I make perfect sense in TCM – *and* Dr. Rozenn knew more about a prescription I’ve been on than have 4 out of 5 western doctors I’ve seen. By the end of my first (recent) appointment, Dr. Rozenn already had concrete ideas about a long-​term plan for getting me back to health. I now feel as though finally – *finally* – I’m starting to get somewhere.
BONUS for quantified self /​self-​tracker types: You know how you’re constantly struggling to find a doctor who’s even slightly interested in your self-​tracking data? Dr. Rozenn read through all my tiny print, «see reverse,» essay-​style answers on her patient history forms… and then *asked me if I had any more data.* And then actually read all the stuff I sent her, which was an almost inhumane quantity of numbers and text. It was pretty amazing.
Also, for other 30-​something women: I have no real proof of being fertile, infertile, or somewhere in between, because right now isn’t the right time to find out – but that doesn’t mean I’m not worried about being or becoming infertile in the future. I’ve mentioned this to a couple of western doctors, and the conversation has never gotten further than, «How long have you been trying?» /​«I’m not trying.» /​«Well, when you’ve been trying for six months…», which isn’t very helpful. Again, my concerns all made perfect sense to Dr. Rozenn, who had good advice and concrete suggestions for what I could do *now* to support & strengthen my fertility, even though I’m not yet trying to conceive.

I visited Dr. Rozenn because I was experiencing constant numbness, itching and tingling above my left shoulder blade from a condition called notalgia paresthetica, to which my doctor told me there was no cure or treatment. In addition, directly across from that sensation on my right shoulder blade I was experiencing sharp, excruciating pain when I tilted my head back. Dr. Rozenn determined that these conditions were connected, and after 5 treatments my symptoms are nearly gone. I can get my head back almost all the way before experiencing pain (I couldn’t even look at the ceiling before) and my itching/​numbness/​tingling are now intermittent and rare rather than constant. Super happy with my results!

I went from wondering if I could even get pregnant to being super pregnant while under the care of Dr. Rozenn. Prior to being under Dr. Rozenn’s care, I had only been to community acupuncture. I now liken that to getting a chair massage in the mall, and then realizing how life-​changing a full-​on spa massage is! The way she gets to the root of the problem and then continues to delve on each visit until symptoms clear up is so amazing to me. Her keen insight and desire to help people is so evident in the way that she treats her patients. I also really love her ovary-​inspired jewelry, something she wasn’t even aware of herself — that’s how committed she is to her fertility work! I also highly recommend her book «Your Fertility Program», not only is it helpful but it’s a good read.

A true healer. Looks at the body as a whole and incorporates herbs, ointments and nutrition into the treatments. Clearly finds pleasure in her work and cares greatly for her patients. Spends more time with her patients than any other acupuncturist I’ve see (including Stanford). Can’t say enough good things about her. She is fantastic.

I’ve seen Dr. Rozenn for a multitude of ailments over the past few years. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in her field. She’s helped me with anxiety, colds, shoulder pain, liver detox, headaches, and even scar treatments from past surgeries. She’s my go to Dr. for everything.

Dr. Rozenn is the best! Going into my first session I was open to the experience, but hesitant due to the bombardment of doubt showered upon acupuncture by western medicine. I went in to work on my overall health flow and a few specific issues. I have been extremely satisfied with the results and Dr. Rozenn’s calm dedicated demeanor. I truly love her insight and honesty, any practitioner that is ok with suggesting an end to treatment (versus you should come every week forever) if you are feeling better or «cured» is A+ in my book. I’ve been going to Dr. Rozenn every 7 – 10 days for over a year. While I don’t have lots of experience with acupuncture beyond her practice, I know that she has really made a difference in my health.
I first visited Dr. Rozenn for help managing stress, and her treatments helped immediately. She believes in helping you address the root of the problem, but she will also provide treatments that provide instant relief. Not only is her treatment effective, but she is also very professional, conscientious, responsive and a good listener.

Dr. Rozenn is an incredible doctor and a blessing to my family. I am continually amazed by how quickly she can solve problems, many that have been bothering me for years. For example, I have struggled with chronic body pain for years after several car accidents. I had been living with the pain under the assumption that there was nothing I could do about it. It had just become a part of my life. Dr. Rozenn suggested a completely sugar free, organic, whole grain diet, a daily regimen of Chinese herbs and vitamins and regular acupuncture treatments. To my surprise, in less than two months my body pain is non-​existent! Her couples fertility program is really excellent. She is treating my husband and me simultaneously and we are already seeing improvements in our fertility. No baby yet, but thanks to Dr. Rozenn we are very hopeful for the future. She is very sensitive and comprehensive in her fertility treatments, which I appreciate because it is such an emotional roller coaster to be trying to conceive. I feel like she is my fertility therapist as well as my fertility doctor. Above all, she is a master of her craft and an absolute professional. I am constantly impressed by how she knows what is going on in my body better than I even do, and how she can erase a headache or a sore muscle with one well placed needle. I especially appreciate that she is a teacher of acupuncture. As a teacher myself, I know that in order to teach something to others, your own knowledge of the subject has to be that much deeper and more complete. She embodies this in every way and as I watch her work I know that I am in the best possible hands.
In addition, the office is warm, welcoming and aesthetically pleasing, with an inviting, zen feeling to it. Her staff is friendly, helpful and warm. I have to give a special nod to Erin, Dr. Rozenn’s «apprentice» (I’m not sure if that is what she calls herself, but it seems to be the proper title to me). Erin is so welcoming and friendly, she feels more like a friend then a doctor’s assistant. I often find myself chatting with her for lengthy periods of time after my appointment ends.
All in all I cannot speak more highly of Endless Possibilities Acupuncture, Dr. Rozenn or her staff. They are caring, highly trained, warm, sensitive masters of their craft and anyone who is smart enough to consider acupuncture could find no better source of treatment.

I saw Dr. Rozenn several times over the course of three years in Santa Cruz, and found her to be by far the best acupuncturist in Santa Cruz. I completed the Liver Detoxification program twice, and was astounded at the results for my body and energy level.
I really appreciate Dr. Rozenn’s manner. She is a holistic, humanist healer. She listens to her patients empathically and mindfully. She asks questions and follows up. She explains her course of diagnosis as she is making it, so her patients can understand her thought process. She explains each of her practices. When she checks your pulse, tongue, and stomach muscles, she tells you why. She explains why she chooses each pressure point.
She is calm, intelligent, centered, and very personable. I felt comfortable telling her about the woes of my body, my mind, and my heart, and she always sought out good remedies for whatever ailed me. She tracked my progress and followed up with questions about how I felt after my previous visits.
I also was pleased with the massage techniques of Kasha Forgette.
I definitely recommend seeing Dr. Rozenn for any pain in the body, and for the liver detoxification program.

Dr. Rozenn offers a unique approach that is based on a solid foundation of training in acupuncture, combined with her unique background in Feldenkrais and Aikido. With this background she offers a whole-​body approach that goes after the root of the problem instead of the surface symptoms, with results unparalleled by any other practitioner I have experienced. Dr. Rozenn is holistic in her approach to solving health issues. Her treatment has helped me sleep much better and feel better overall. The best part is she prescribed an herb that eliminated my nighttime hot flashes. Dr. Rozenn is just excellent. She spends a really good amount of time with you when you go in for your initial appointment and each follow up appointment. I couldn’t be more impressed with the way in which she seems to care about patients and their comfort. Kasha, another doctor in her office, is also excellent.

I have been a patient of Dr. Rozenn for some years now. Every time I go for a visit I feel like I am safe and in good hands, I would never go back to a regular MD before going to Dr. Rozenn first. She’s treated me for several issues from a simple cold to detoxing and skin problems.
She is very thorough, patient, knowledgeable, and willing to share a piece of her mind, sometimes she even remembers details of visits that happened years ago which seems extremely outstanding given the fact that she is a very busy practitioner.
One time I went to see her because of a terrible cold that hadn’t let me sleep for several days, she immediately spotted the problem and treated me. Within minutes I fell asleep on the treatment table and remained there for almost an hour… it was a miracle to me as I hadn’t been able to breath properly or lay for a couple of minutes without getting a cough attack for days.

I discovered Dr. Maureen Rozenn at Endless Possibilities Acupuncture 2 years ago when I was suffering from extremely painful periods while also addicted to pain pills. I have suffered from the pain of endometriosis since my first period at the age of 13. I have blacked out, thrown-​up, and even gone to the hospital from the pain of my cycles. Through the years I have tried taking birth control pills & progesterone pills to help with my endometriosis, and I’ve even had vaginal ultrasounds to see if there were tumors on or near my ovaries or in my uterus. After years of failed attempts to help with my irregular periods and the pain, I eventually found comfort in prescribed pain killers from my doctors. At first I used them as directed, and eventually I had lost control and I was addicted to pain killers, but the pain was still there every cycle from my endometriosis.
Maureen was recommended to me by a friend. I knew right away Maureen was the right doctor for me. She was kind, understanding, nonjudgmental, and very knowledgeable. She said that she wanted to see me weekly for 3 months. I enjoyed my acupuncture treatments and visits so much, that I ended up seeing her for two years! Within those two years, Dr. Rozenn helped me to detox from pain pills, regulated my cycle, helped my pain with herbs, diet and acupuncture, and finally, she helped me when I found out that I was pregnant!
A lot of times women with endometriosis may have a more difficult time conceiving. Not only did I conceive, my pregnancy was strong the entire 9 months, and now I have a very healthy baby boy! Do I feel Maureen had a lot to do with that? Yes! As soon as my periods return, I will be back in her office for «general maintenance» with my reproductive organs.
I have recommended Dr. Rozenn to many friends and will continue to do so!

I’ve been to several acupuncturists who were okay, but Maureen! Wow, Maureen is very thorough, asks great questions, listens closely, uses several modalities of treatment, and knows her craft! She is the definition of holistic medicine. I’ve had hormone imbalances for years and have known that this has spurred on a series of symptoms over time (numbness in my right hand being one of them). So when I recently had an onset of Carpel Tunnel in my right hand, I knew that Western medicine wasn’t going to help me. When you go to Maureen’s office with a symptom issue, she looks at the body as a whole. Because of this I am finally getting the treatment I’ve been searching for (the cause and symptoms of my hormone imbalance). I’ve seen Maureen three times so far and within that time, my Carpel Tunnel pain has reduced dramatically. I look forward to continuing my treatment with her.

When you first enter the office, you are struck by the interior design which is excellent. Details beyond belief. If the treatment is as good as the details in the office, I will be well cared for. And my son was.
Office staff was efficient and helpful. The dr took his time with explaining procedures thoroughly.

Liver disease, women’s health, fertility. You want Maureen in Santa Cruz. She knows what she is doing and how to integrate with Western medicine.

If I could reflect how good I feel with the number of stars I give to EPA, I wouldn’t limit myself to 5. I can’t begin to explain how wonderful I feel after completing the Liver Detox Program with Dr. Maureen Rozenn. I’ve been on a long journey trying to become a healthier person and really felt I’d come a long way — but I actually didn’t realize how crappy I was still feeling until I started to feel so much better!
The program is so simple and Dr. Rozenn tailors it to each patient’s specific needs. The actual plan requires a 3 week commitment and includes a weekly acupuncture with Dr. Rozenn and massage with Brianna Brownfield. I’ve never experienced something like this before and, for me, it has resulted in some significant lifestyle changes. To be honest, I finished my 3 weeks but have now modified it so that I can continue following it for a few more. I highly, highly, recommend Dr. Rozenn and Endless Possibilities Acupuncture.
