I really appreciate Dr. Joiner’s honest and thorough consultation. He and his friendly assistant, Victoria, were able to explain everything in great detail and made my daughter feel at ease. He even took the time to contact the dentist, and go over her situation and what needs to be done. Victoria followed up with the dentist as well, which was above and beyond what I expected.
Kudos to a great team who actually care about their patients!
When the time comes for my child to get braces we will gladly return to Dr. Joiner and his awesome staff.

I only visited Dr. Joiner’ office for a consultation. I’m very impressed with the friendliness of the staff and of Dr. Joiner himself. Even at 7:30 am, everyone had a smile on their face and greeted me very kindly. They explained everything quite well and made the process very easy.
The office itself is very cramped. There is virtually no privacy at any of the exam chairs, and the x-​ray area is barely concealed.
It looks very child friendly. I believe I saw a raffle for a bike, and possibly some video games in the waiting area.
The reason I only visited once is that their quote for Invisalign treatment was astronomical. My mother had Invisalign at another orthodontist’s office, and she said it was nowhere near the $ 7300 Dr. Joiner’s office quoted. My teeth are not f’ed up by any definition. They look fine, just need a few tweaks due to jaw problems. So a year of plastic trays for the same amount as a decent used car? No thank you, I’ll live with my silly bite.
If you really are in need of a good orthodontist, and cost and tight spaces aren’t a problem, I would recommend Dr. Joiner and his friendly team. As for me, I’ll be shopping around…

What an amazing doctor Joiner is! I was reluctant at first to have my teeth straightened in high school, as I felt that braces were embarrassing and that my teeth were not horribly crooked. Joiner and his team were incredibly informative and helped my father and I make the decision to try Invisalign on my teeth. After about a year and a half of treatment (longer than I was originally supposed to have taken — my own fault for not wearing my Invisalign trays as often as I was supposed to) my teeth are significantly straighter. Joiner himself is a very caring and professional orthodontist. On one post-​treatment occasion, I broke my top retainer by stepping on it while it was in the pocket of a pair of pants. I continued to wear it at night anyway until I was able to get in to Joiner’s office. After taking a look at my teeth and noting that they were still very straight, and commending my decision to continue wearing the broken retainer until I could get a new one, he decided to not charge us fully for a replacement. It was a very kind thing to do as replacement retainers are not the most affordable things. Dr. Joiner and all of his staff are very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. I have had a great experience as a patient in his office.

Excellent Ortho office that caters to children. Everyone is friendly, helpful and knows what they are doing. Generous owner who pays for all his patients to
have a free movie day once a year. Don’t hesitate to become a patient!

I am only giving this two stars due to the cost. The office staff was nice enough and Dr. Joiner seems to have all the latest and greatest equipment. Though, he had the same treatment plan as the orthodontist I chose and yet he was over a thousand dollars more. I was a little afraid of the «you get what you pay for», but, honestly, I don’t think I would have received better care at Dr. Joiner’s, so I could not justify the charge. Also have a friend who experienced the same — she had two consultations and Dr. Joiner’s office was almost two thousand dollars more than a comparable orthodontist. On top of that, they did not explain the billing process to her well at all and wanted to charge her insurance something like $ 500 for the X-​Rays. I guess if you choice not to go with the office after the second consult, you will be charged. It kind of makes sense, but, it just was not explained well at all. That I have a problem with. I have also heard from others that if you are even five minutes late, they will cancel your appointment. Their office hours are not very flexible.

I was personally contacted by Dr Joiner after posting my prior review. He thanked me for pointing out the issues with the unsympathetic letter. I was told that the letter had been changed and that for «larger amounts» the office does call verse send out a letter. I personally feel the office should call regardless of the amount. I personally had a 500.00 difference from what insurance was supposed to pay and I find 500.00 to be a large sum of money. Dr. Joiner seemed genuinely dissatisfied that I was unhappy and offered to cover the 500.00 difference in an effort to help our family pay what we hadn’t signed up for. I want to make clear that I don’t expect the office to have a magic ball and have to absorb balances left by insurance companies. I would have paid it my complaint was in the execution of how they communicated this issue to me. I am not ever one to change a review because a business bribes me to do so. This was a genuine and heart felt offer and was the same sweet energy I personally experience in the office. The one bummer is that I thought my braces had been paid off for months as I paid the full balance due months ago and then out of nowhere when this 500 credit came up, I somehow owed another 175 more. I’m willing to trust that I did. I was also informed that insurance hasn’t paid them yet so I might have an issue in the future. I pray that isn’t the case and that I don’t end up just giving this money back to them. That would all be too fishy for me.
I can’t comment to other Unilocalers complainants about the finished product because my child is still in treatment. I can comment to the negative review about hand washing and everything I have seen has been very clean, sanitized, and I have seen Dr. Joiner cleaning his hands regularly. I can’t imagine them not taking every precaution in hygiene because this office is always spotless, smells clean, and the waiting room gets spruced up 1 – 3 times in the one hour I am there!
All in all I hope that my treatment continues to go well and I can Unilocal to a perfect smile when we are done.
I will agree that the hours can be very difficult as they are closed Friday and close by 5. I find myself struggling to figure out times that work for my high school child. Annoying yes, nowhere near a deal breaker for me. I’m most interested in a personable office and I have just that.

My twin boy’s have been seeing Dr. Joiner and his staff for about 4 years now. We went to him after their dentist said they would need braces. Dr. Joiner evaluated their mouths from the beginning, now they are about ready to have their braces removed. Dr. Joiner and his staff are absolutely the best there is. There are professional, wonderful atmosphere, and I’ve had to page Dr. Joiner a couple times for after hour «fix it» jobs, he was always accommodating and happy to meet with us. I couldn’t be happier with the results and service weve been given. They are the best !!

Results were not good.
For my second child I declined the discount and chose another orthodontist in the area. She has had a much better overall experience.

Beautiful office, state of the art equipment and procedures offered and Dr. Joiner absolutely seemed to know what he was talking about. However, charging nearly 8000 dollars for invisalign treatment that takes only 9 months? No thank you. I know the central coast is supposed to be expensive but I was quoted elsewhere for a little under 4k. Call me old fashioned but maybe if they got rid of the sweepstakes for PS3’s, iPads and expensive mountain bikes and focused less on social networking and more on competitive pricing the rates here wouldn’t be so gouging.

I went through ortho treatment with Dr. Joiner when I was 13. Now I’m 28 and I had a little space develop between my two front teeth. Dr. Joiner remembered me and my family. He was brilliant and made me a simple retainer with springs to close the gap for a very reasonable cost and the results are AMAZING! I’m a dental hygienist so my smile is part of my uniform. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to be Dr. Joiner’s patient so many years ago.

My dentist referred me to Dr. Joiner for adult orthodontics; it’s been a year and Dr. Joiner and his staff is nothing short of awesome. I have a difficult situation that has required oral surgery and braces. Dr. Joiner has gone above and beyond to give excellent treatment, even has seen me during off-​hours. The whole experience, from the upfront fees and explanation of treatment to the appointment scheduling and the office visits, all good so far — not one complaint!

When my 8 year old needed braces, our dentist recommended Dr. Joiner. We had a great experience, from the first visit to the last. They are friendly, professional, and very very good at what they do. Plus, they make the visits fun for kids, with free goodies, raffles, glow-​in-​the-​dark retainers, and a very welcoming attitude.

I checked out multiple orthodontists in the area so I would have a second opinion, and there was no doubt in my mind that Dr. Mark Joiner’s office was the right place for me! As an adult patient I was immediately made very comfortable and was amazed at how fast my smile started improving.
Their office staff is extremely friendly and helpful, I love that they use electronic scheduling in the office to make sure your time is efficiently used.
Dr. Joiner is an expert in not just traditional braces, but also in Invisalign, In-​Ovation, and lingual braces. I liked his broad range of experience, knowing he could find just the right solution to fit my needs!
