Stop here. No really. This is one of the best doughnuts I’ve had in a long time. So fresh. Such a charming old fashioned shoppe. Reminds me of back east and a small place I used to go with my family as a kid. You can’t beat the prices at all with the quality. If I lived near by I would be here all the time!

Came here this morning and I loved my donut. I got a cinnamon roll and it was huge, decent priced, and fresh. I was impressed. The lady behind the counter was nice and got me in and out quickly. I would definitely come back here for more donuts.

Amazing service! It looked like it was a little family owned place but the service was great! We had some bagel sandwiches and I could not get over how great it tasted!!! We then ordered some donuts to go, we got in the car and noticed that the lady put something extra in the bag(donut holes)!!! All around great service and food and would definitely recommend anyone to go there, I will definitely be going back!

I was craving donuts and stopped in this little shop about mid-afternoon. The woman behind the counter was courteous and welcoming. I picked up several, from glazed, cake, old fashion, bar and twist. The only one worth mentioning was the old fashion. It was good. I was disappointed with the rest. Upon first bite, the taste, texture and freshness wasn’t there. I expect a soft and yeasty interior. All tasted like they were dry & day old and they weren’t. Cute place but next time I’ll try another shop.

OMG this is an amazing little corner bakery… it is a must stop in Santa Cruz. I am sure it is not healthy but anything that tastes this good usually isn’t so indulge and workout tomorrow. Yum Yum Yum Oh and the service is awesome also. I started with just a sack and then changed to a box and the guy did it with a smile and laughed at me because he seen that little twinkle in my eye over the custard chocolate donut. :)

Cutest donut shop I’ve ever been in. We ate there between 3−4pm so major props for them staying open. The donuts were OK but I bet they would be better fresh.

Your classic donut shop.(not sure about the old-timeee spelling) The staff, armed with a basic understanding, makes up for it with genuine friendliness and generosity.(free-extra donuts!) They only accept cash so plan ahead.

Best doughnuts in the area. The whole wheat cake doughnuts are amazing, and don’t taste at all like they sound like might, they are definitely worth a try.

I love this place! I’ve been going here since I was a kid. Affordable and fast. They even know what doughnut I want when I walk in.

I really like Allbright’s! My dad and I are huge doughnut fans, so whenever I am bringing doughnuts, I try to stop at Allbright’s. Their lemon jelly with powdered sugar are my favorites, but I have enjoyed everything I have gotten there. It’s clean and bright and the customer service is excellent.

Great local shop mom and pop shop. Nothing exotic, I wouldn’t touch the croissants or coffee. Perfect for simple donuts and chocolate milk. Some mornings there is a crowd of old timers and listening to their small talk is amusing. The interior is aging but charming, 50’s décor?

Not quite sure what other people are finding so great about this place. The selection is rather bland and I have never seen a croissant that looked like a kaiser roll… so I guess that was unique. The donuts were… donuts. Not special but they get 3 stars because the service was excellent. The over friendly and exhuberant husband and the bitter, straight to the point wife, make for good entertainment. I’ll likely go back because they are so close but I still haven’t found a really good donut shop yet. The good: The service is great and I love the décor as it reminds of coffee shops from back east. The bad: The donuts were a rather big let down. just nothing special there. Dough and sugar. The ugly: The croissants… fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Purchased a variety of treats this morning. Didn’t think these were special, and defiantly had better elsewhere. THe best was the boston cream filled long john. The old fashions were a bit on the tough side(imagine that!). The apple fritter, though tasty, was heavy and soggy with oil. Service = 4 I’m ready to try the next donut spot…

3 stars because it’s hard to judge a donut shop at end of day. We thought the place was closed, but the door was open and the owner very welcoming when we walked in. We tried 2 chocolate dipped cake, 1 old-fashioned, and 1 glazed. All ok, but nothing special. Will give them another try if in the area earlier in the day.

If I live near this I would quickly change shape. OR through intense therapy, I might learn to moderate my intake. Today I got 5 puffy little glazed donut holes, and a lovely cakey chocolate donut with chocolate frosting. I took them home and ate them all with a huge glass of milk after getting takeout from Tacos Moreno right next door. *clouds open, angels sing, rapture ensues* Great old school look with the counters and stools. They have bagels and breakfast sandwiches too. And coffee, of course. For dunking, Definitely NOT Dunkin. A whole big notch better.

I am making Boston cream pie cuppies so OFCOURSE I had to try a cream filled doughnut after going to Safeway to shop for ingredients in order to get into the mood. This place is a gem. I found parking right in front– destiny awaits. I have decided that Asians infiltrate Santa Cruz through nails, restaurants or doughnut shops– we are a sneaky race. This took me back to a doughnut place I used to go to back in the day in cupertino… old school booth with a handful of locals doing business over coffee and a doughnut… immediately I saw it. the maple with cream filling(not a bar although those looked yummy too). The maple was perfect– not overly sweet. the doughnut itself good texture– slightly crispy outside but soft doughy goodness on the inside. cream was the usual… for a 1.25 I was a happy camper… loyal following of locals check tons of doughnuts check clean space and lots of light check vicky t coming back— triple check exclamation point bring your coin jar! Cash only

First to review?! When I lived in Santa Cruz’s Seabright neighborhood I faced a tough decision come Sunday mornings: The Buttery(a bakery that uses butter and organic ingredients) or Allbright’s Donuts? Both were a nice walk, albeit in different directions, from the ‘ol bungalow and, man, I recall feeling paralyzed with indecision some mornings. The apple fritter at Allbright’s changed my opinion on apple fritters. Made me a fan. Allbright’s was(and I’d venture still is) the premier donut shoppe in Santa Cruz — serving up the best of the old fashioneds AND old timers. They really are the best old timers. The kind that know how to read other customers as well as they read the local paper. They can gather if and when you’re in the mood for company and take no personal offense if the answer is «no.» Great original U-shaped counter and stools, coffee refills poured regularly from middle stage, and some very, very old, color-worn promotional posters for coffee and what-not on the walls. Get there before 10 so the meat that’s spinning-cooking-charring in prep for the lunch crowd at Taco Moreno next door doesn’t contaminate that sweet fried donut scent that first hits you about a block away.
