Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort

My family and I stayed in one of the cottages for our trip to Holiday World in June 2016. We could not have been happier. The cottage was clean with all the conveniences of home. The park itself was clean and well kept. The free shuttle service to the main gate of Holiday World and back to the cottage was a great perk! Then there is the pool, water slides and the many flavors of ice cream. Never a dull moment.

We have been visiting camp Rudolph for many years and this time, were greatly
disappointed by the changes. The once family owned business has sold to a larger cooperation and the flavor of the camp ground has suffered. The cabin rental prices now surpass a nightly stay at Walt Disney World.
I actually would not mind paying these prices, if the bed was even remotely comfortable. Or the cabin was not filthy and poorly maintained. Or the amenities were amazing. However, the bed was terrible and the cabin floor blackened our feet. Additionally, the resort amenities are insufficient to meet the needs of the guest. The pool area was at capacity, but who would know? The one and only lifeguard; she was overwhelmed. I think Sun Resorts should borrow a play card from Disney. You can charge these greatly inflated prices, if you cater
to your guest.(the bed was so bad, we drove through the night to sleep in our own bed).

The cabins are pretty nice. We stayed in the Christmas cabin with a group of 7 adults. It is a little bit of a tight squeeze and probably better suited for a family rather than a group of adults. If you stay in the cabins, you must pack well and/​or be prepared to go to the store. There are no blankets, minimal pillows, etc. Just be prepared.
There are a few activities you can partake in and there is even a shuttle to the park. Everything within the grounds is walking distance. Just like the park, all the staff members are extremely friendly.

Took my kids in May of 2014. It was before the water attractions were open but we still had a blast. So much to do. We rented a RV and I thought since I was a girl scout I would be fine but it was not my cup of tea. Nothing is wrong with the RV I am just not as natural as I thought I was. LOL I asked if I could look at the cabins and they were so nice to open up several for me to look at. This summer I plan to return with the kids and stay in the Christmas Cabin.

I was really impressed with this campground. It was clean. The front part where we stayed was close to the wash house/​bathroom and near the to the entrance of Holiday World. They had a put put course that was included in the stay. They also had a pool further down in the campground that was included. There was a small water park that had a big inflatable waterslide and then 2 tube slides that was about 9.00 each extra but reasonable. You can rent golf carts and even rent RVS or cabins to stay in. They have a little campground store close by. They had a family movie night one night and then a golf cart glow parade the next. I thought it was cool to have those organized activities. I would definitely go back again. It was about 55.00 a night for a rv site with electrical hookup. I thought it was reasonable, but we’ve normally just been to tent only sites which are usually cheaper.

Spent a couple days here with my wife and family while going to Holiday World. WOW this place is big and there are so many things to do. They have activities every day (movies, karaōke, etc.), offer mini golf, swimming, and they have a basketball court.
They offer cabins (which are fairly new), tent camping spots, camping spots with water/​electric hookup, and trailers. If you aren’t staying in a cabin, they have bathrooms/​showers in various locations on the property. These are nice as each bath house has 6 to 8 units that include individual showers and bathrooms.
As I mentioned there is a fairly large pool that is free to guests and there are also water slides that require a paid wrist band to use. It was about $ 8 for an all day wrist band that allowed you to ride 2 water slides and a GIANT inflatable body slide that is a ton of fun to ride. It was well worth the money. If you don’t feel like paying that much, or maybe you have a bunch of kids, you can pay a discounted rate after about 4 o’clock to ride the slides.
One of the activities they promote occurs one or two times a week at night: it’s a golf cart parade and is one of the whitest things I’ve ever been a part of. You can rent golf carts at the campground (you can’t bring your own) for $ 40 or $ 60 a day depending on what size you get (WOW). I will say that they are useful if you plan on going to the pool or the amusement park and your site is located on the opposite side of the campground. Anyway back to the parade: a couple nights a week, people of the campground will decorate their golf carts. The most common decorations are based on one of the holidays (4^th of July is popular). You are only limited by their imagination. One that I recall, someone went all out and turned their golf cart into a batmobile… they also dressed up like batman. It was pretty cool. Anyway, everyone who is involved lines up their golf carts and they drive a path all around the campground to show off their decorations. It was actually pretty fun.
The campground also offers shuttles to Holiday World if you plan on going to the park while you stay here. There are shuttle stops located around the campground and shuttles run pretty much continuously all day while the park is open. The campground shuttles have a special entrance to the parking lot they are able to use and they drop you off right at the entrance. They also will pick you up and bring you back to the campground.
All in all it was a fun time. I would stay here again, even if I was not going to Holiday World. It was a good time.

I’m a bit torn writing this review, since last year we stayed at Lake Rudolph and had no complaints related to the facilities. However, this year we experienced two, major negative incidents in our trailer. After our first night, one of our children discovered a pile of dirty clothes under one of the beds from a previous occupant. If this wasn’t disgusting enough, one of my nieces contracted head lice from, presumably, the couch she slept on in the living-​room area. The place didn’t appear to be filthy when we got there, but obviously at least one housekeeper isn’t doing her or his job (evidenced by the clothes at least). Such a shame because the bathhouse facilities, store, etc. appeared clean and well kept and the grounds were clean and well maintained as well. To be fair, if the trailer had been clean, I’d probably give Lake Rudolph 4 or 5 stars, as most of the other reviewers here have done. Finally, the new campground management did issue us a refund of half our fees. Perhaps there needs to be a supervisor that double checks behind the housekeepers. Unfortunately we’ve decided to stay in a nearby hotel if we go back to Holiday World next year.

We have stayed here four times in the last 10 yrs when we visit Holiday world. I love it. Kids have a blast «mining», riding around I. Golf carts to visit other camp areas and meet new friends, swim, play putt putt, enjoy the crafts… it’s clean, safe, and there’s a lot of room in the King size RV for a large family. We’ve decided this summer we will save up a little more to stay in the new cabins. I heard they are gorgeous! Really, for the price and everything that’s offered including shuttle service to Holiday World you can’t beat it. Don’t forget to reserve a golf cart and decorate it for the parade!

Our family has been enjoying this camp ground for years. The Halloween party is always a blast. Reserve your spot a year in advance. No kidding! Don’t forget to reserve a golf cart as well. U don’t want to be the one walking! Plus it’s fun to decorate it for the candy walk and to drive to the dance on Saturday night. Also it has Full service which means a lot to us and our big family. People are great and u feel very comfortable letting your kids play at any of the many playgrounds. It’s hard for me to think of many things they could improve on. Only thing is it’s kinda expensive for camping but still well worth the money for time with the family.

I can see why people stay longer. There is so much to do even without the amusement park! Kids’ activities, movies, tiny miniature golf, pool, and they are building water slides. I want to come back for sure! The staff is excellent, without exception. The camp store is well stocked, albeit stinky (the wood smells horrible!) The golf cats need to be monitored better. Lots of intoxicated people careening around. We were on a corner and several times there was almost a wreck in our lot.

Make reservation and funds where taken out next day from my account. Cancelled the reservation and 5 days later still waiting for refund.

Great campground. Perfect for a family vacation. Plenty of activities in the campground (swimming pool, karaōke, volleyball, fishing). Not to forget free shuttle service to/​from Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari.
The camp store is as expected pricey but there is a reasonably priced grocery store just around the corner of the main entrance.
Clean facilities. They even have a pizza delivery service to your campsite.

Great campground, in fact, they have won the «National RV Park of the Year» two times in the past seven years (2004 – 2005 and 2008 – 2009).
We have stayed here many times over the past nine years both in their cabins and rental RVs — everything is well maintained and their staff is top-​notch.
They have free shuttle service to the theme park next door, Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari — great for families who do not have the same schedules in mind for visiting the park!
