Montessori School of Santa Clarita

I have been wanting to post a review about this place since touring it — it was so terrible. I wanted to free all those poor kids locked inside it’s doors. There were not enough teachers compared to children. The youngest group had multiple children crying and unattended to, and you could see that the teachers were too inexperienced and had too many children to take care of them all. When I walked in, the director at the time (this was over a year ago, but I wasn’t on Unilocal then) was complaining about having to call a sick child’s parents to come pick him up; then when I left, I saw this poor child sitting in a chair all by himself, waiting, while some of the staff sat and talked by the front desk. It got even worse. This was the worst preschool I have ever toured.

The other review stating that this is not a Montessori school feels pretty accurate. We recently enrolled our 12 month old in an actual Montessori and nearly EVERYTHING is more organized, safer, calmer. I just wish I had seen these reviews earlier.
They were unable to get my very easy and very schedule-​able child onto a regular nap schedule over the course of 7 months. His crib was never the same each week until I made a formal request. Some days he wouldn’t take his first nap until almost 4 PM. Some days he’d take two naps that were only 30 minutes long. Somedays only one that was 40 minutes. And others one long nap of 2 and a half hours in the middle of lunch. Always at different times. Always in different intervals. It’s taken him 4 days at his new school to fall into a schedule of two naps of about an hour — hour and a half each, at around the same time each day.
They’re disorganized with food and communication, feeding crackers and cookies without notifying me for example. They also fed my child old formula (Until I brought it to their attention), and would sometimes heat it in the microwave.
My son was bitten 4 times by 4 different children under 4 «unusual» circumstances while he was not being properly supervised. Their response was lacking in implementable action and follow through as it continued to happen again and again.
They attempted to ease my fears about their lack of supervision, making grand promises to reform and changes in protocol. They also often attempted to implement a suggested nap schedule… but they were never able to follow through and were at times passive aggressive about how much work would be involved to do either.
The director is a lot of talk and very little action.
Obviously, I trusted them with my child for 7 months, so I believe them to be loving, caring people, but they are completely disorganized and are sorely lacking in proper management.

My wife and I are happy to have our 2 year old at Montessori Santa Clarita. He’s been going there for the last 6 months or so. The staff is great, like the fact the school goes beyond just having fun and focusing on development and learning. Would recommend to family and friends.

I send my two kids here and they absolutely love it. I have never had an issue with any of the teachers, they have all been personable and very friendly. My daughter always comes home excited to tell me what she learned for the day. She loves her class and Ms Emily so much that she cries about not wanting to go to Kindergarten because she doesn’t want to leave her teacher.
My younger daughter is in the baby room and she loves it and they love her. Ms, Georgette and Ms. Cindy are so good and patient with these kids. It is a relief to me to know I can drop her off there and they take such great care of her that I don’t have to stress about it when I am at work.
I am very happy with my decision to send my children to this school.

I would not recommend this school for Childcare or educational services.

Sent my kids to this place a few years back and wanted to post of our terrible experience, however they had changed the name of the school (I’m guessing to get away from all the bad reviews they had under the old name-​Canyon Vista Children’s Acadamy-​look it up).
The school was over crowded, the teachers were mostly young adults with no children of their own, and the classroom was usually in total chaos when I would pick up my kids. I should have pulled them out sooner, but this was the first preschool we had ever sent our twins to and we just didn’t know any better.
They claimed to be a Montessori school. Nothing could be further from the truth. The teachers went for 9 weeks of training and then were «certified». Only a fraction of the day was dedicated to Montessori work and after doing research on what Montessori learning was supposed to be like, I realized this school simply enjoys calling itself a Montessori School to draw people in.
My boys were very unhappy here. They would cry and cry when I dropped them off. I noticed one of them was covering his ears a lot in the classroom because it was so noisy and disorganized. When I would pick them up, I got a rundown from the teacher of all the things they had done wrong during the day (didn’t want to dance in dance class, or pushed another child as several of them were trying to wash hands at the sink). Never anything positive. I was told a psychologist would be brought in to assess our boys and that we needed parenting classes. She observed the class without us there. She met with us later and explained that there was no positive reinforcement being given for good behavior and generally encouraged us to take our boys someplace else. We did just that.
Now our boys are attending a REAL Montessori School with excellent results. Please steer clear of this place. They just want to collect your money and run the school as cheaply as possible with no regard for your children’s experience.
