Mac’s Pool And Spa Supply

My spa spills into the pool and I had a problem with the water level going down after the pump shut off. I thought it was a leak and was prepared to spend an unwanted amount of money on leak detection and repair. I called Mac’s for a recommendation and Mark had me examine the check valves. The culprit was a rock holding the valve open causing the water to recede. Cost me 5 minutes of my time and $ 0.

The staff here is very Knowledgeable about the products in store. They always have the part needed and make sure it is the right one for your pool because they know pools. There is an above ground pool inside the store to try out or trouble shoot products. The inside pool is great because if you are in doubt, you can give it a test run to validate. If you have a question about anything, Macs is the place for solutions.

I love Macs pool supplies. I have lived in the area for 14 years and have used them very often for supplies and guidance. People need to remember that small businesses are the backbone of America and need to be supported. This is a small family owned store. Small businesses usually have higher prices because their costs of doing business are greater. You can go to a big store and get some parts and chemicals but at Macs you get answers and an education. They take the time to answer your questions and help the DIY pool owner. It is worth the extra cost for the added service and staff they have in-​store for these type of services. Try taking your pool sweep to Walmart and ask them to fix it or for help on testing your chemicals. Macs does this for free. Something may be $ 10 cheaper somewhere in the valley but what does your gas cost and what is your time worth?
I addition, I used Macs to start my pool after re-​plastering. Don is the best. He went way over and above my expectations. I had to leave town and Don stopped in constantly to make sure my pool was taken care of. He called me out of state and kept me informed of everything. What a relief. Great to have a trustworthy, reliable and honest business in our community. If you have a problem with them, try calling them and leave a message for Don to call you. I’m sure he will make sure your situation is taken care of correctly.

Awesome staff. Very knowledgable on the products and VERY nice. You don’t meet people that nice in retail often, so it was good to have people that care about the customers and their pools. A+

The best pool people out there. These people really know their stuff. They work with us and are very flexible. We have them do our monthly service. Everything included except parts. Chad is our pool guy and he is wonderful !! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I had almost zero pressure at the filter and was worried about calling a place that sells equipment for fear that they would try to sell replacements for my 24 year old filter or my 5 year old pump and heater. Adam immediately diagnosed it as a plugged impeller — opened up my pump and took the little pieces of gravel out of my impeller (the pump strainer basket was old and had developed holes that let rocks through) cleaned it — replaced the o-​ring — and we are flowing water like crazy. All for only a $ 120 service call and I think it was $ 12 for the o-​ring (big complicated non circular o-​ring). I am one happy camper and will be back if I have a mechanical problem.(I’m a mechanical engineer and recognize mechanical talent when I see it).

Stopped in for some parts for my pool which is undergoing a replaster right now. Prices are very high here. Needed one red and one blue lens for my pool lights. $ 14.99 was the price. Since I was heading to the valley, I just stopped in at Wholesale Poolmart in North Hollywood and picked up both for $ 4.99 each.
I also bought my lights here as well and saved almost $ 70 each on them compared to Mac’s prices. Name brand Pentair Amerilites.

My wife and I stopped in today and spoke with Mike who helped us get the supplies we needed to start doing all of our own pool maintenance. We spoke about all of the important topics, he answered all of our questions and we left with the supplies and info we needed feeling good about the experience. I’d been to Mac’s twice in years past for odds and ends while the pool company was taking care of the pool and the service was good then as well. We’ll definitely be going back.

Excellent service. They matched Internet pricing, yet I walked out with my products at that moment. (Other shops in town will not price match internet companies!) The entire staff is incredibly knowledgable. If is nice to see a small mom and pop operation thriving!

For routine supplies the place is fine. The guys working the counter are friendly and helpful. The prices are the same as any other pool supply store.
But don’t ask them to do any work on your pool. My heater was acting up and I asked them for a recommendation. They said they had a guy who works on pool equipment. Takes a while to hear from him, then he comes out, spends less than a half hour working on the heater, tells me I need a new heater, hands me a $ 3300 proposal and demands payment of $ 135 for the half hour he spent. Had another guy look at it who said it needed a $ 100 part. He put the part in and the heater worked fine. And he charged $ 60 for the visit.
Turns out the guy who came out was the owner’s son. Don’t know if that’s their nomal MO, but I won’t be shopping there anymore.

I’m all for supporting local businesses! But, I got the cold shoulder from Mac’s. :(
I went into Mac’s to set up pool service. I was told by the very nice man at the desk that the owner does all the pool service set up himself and that he would call me the next day to set up an appointment to come by and check out my pool and establish service. Well, the owner must not need the extra business because he never called me.
Although the man who assisted me at the store was very knowledgeable, I can’t support Mac’s because when the owner himself doesn’t follow up with a customer, well, that doesn’t exude good customer service.

Great customer service! We were greeted first thing in the door, I like that. The staff was very helpful selecting our products and was not pushy like most pool supply stores. Thank you Mac’s, I will be a returning customer.

Friendly place to get spa chemicals and water tested

Great pool shop! I recently made several trips there for some busted spa equipment after having a less than satisfactory experience at Leslie’s Pool Supplies. What a pleasant surprise! Every guy I spoke to was knowledgeable, helpful, and patient (I’m a little technically challenged.) I brought a couple problem motors to them, which they promptly tore apart and trouble shooted with me right then and there. One required service. The other didn’t. They were completely honest about it. And for the service that was required, their prices weren’t bad and they had everything I needed. I won’t go anywhere else.
