I believe everybody is capable of learning to play the guitar and the bass. And while we all can learn to play the guitar or bass, we don’t all learn the same way. Each of us are uniquely different and process information in contrasting ways. Understanding this, I work very hard at getting to know my students so that I can provide them with customized lessons that increase their speed of learning and maximize the fun of playing music.

New students who have previously taken lessons from other teachers often tell me that «I learned more from you in four lessons then I did in one year of taking lessons from my former teacher.» Is that even possible? Yes, and the reason is pretty simple. It’s all about having fun. My approach is to teach you how to play your instrument using the music you love and listen to. I find students are motivated to practice more when they are playing their favorite song. Imagine that. :)

Some students learn by SEEING my fingers play the song. Other students learn by HEARING me play the song. Still other students learn by READING tablature or musical notation as I guide them through the song. And some students learn by using a hybrid of all three methods. I have no preference for any of these methods when teaching my students and I believe that the question is not «which method is best» but «which method is best for you?» We will figure out the answer to that question together.

History

Established in 1987.

For each customized lesson plan, I create tracks of the key parts of the lesson and send them to you via email for practicing with at home in between your lessons. I break each song into sections and slow them down to a speed that you can play immediately. As you’re playing advances, I will send you progressively faster tracks to challenge you and help you along. Before you know it, you will be playing your favorite song at full speed.

For students working on improvisation and soloing, I will teach you the scales, arpeggios and licks that your favorite artists use to create those soul touching solos. I will create and email jam tracks in the style of music that you enjoy so that you can have fun learning to improvise while jamming with a real band.

Got a song in you that’s dying to get out? For the student who wants to write their own music, I teach music theory and the art of creating music in a simple and easy to understand method that has been refined through years of teaching.
