This review is long over do. I am a backyard chicken owner and Dr. Littlehale is the only veterinarian in the area that has his own chickens and treats chickens. I brought in my favorite girl in November who had kidney failure. Dr. Littlehale was kind and very clear that she was not going to make it. He could have played on my desires to save her at all cost, but he didn’t. He helped me to see the situation for what it was and not to spend X amount of dollars to have her die in a few days anyway. I was so distraught and the staff was so kind and understanding.
I have brought in another hen, Margret Thatcher, for sour croup and he treated her quickly as well. The staff here is wonderful, the office is always clean and I have never had to wait to be seen. I only wish they were out in the Evergreen area.

A bit of a drive, but worth every mile.
My Uma, my Macaroni, Siena & Heidi are just thrilled to get in the car and visit their friends like vet tech extraordinaire Mica!
Prices are reasonable. It’s always clean and friendly. I am confident that my extended pet family is getting the very best care!

Maybe I caught him on a bad day but I found the vet to be dismissive. I was unsatisfied with his service.

We had a wonderful experience as first time guests. Everyone was very nice! We were early to our appointment and we were seen almost immediately. Dr Lawrence was very welcoming and very informative! The price for their services was also less than we expected!

Great service and great staff. I recommend this place for all who have pets.

This pet hospital is a little out of my way to go to, but I’m incredibly glad to have given it a chance. I don’t usually write many reviews but felt that the service here is exceptional. It is clear that Dr. Littlehale and the staff wholeheartedly care about our four legged friends, and do what they can to make sure they are well taken care of.
I was mainly looking for a veterinarian that specialized in looking at hamsters in the San Jose area, but not a lot of websites had hamsters specifically in their listing. I came along the Santa Clara Pet Hospital website and they had hamsters listed, so I decided to give them a try.
The moment I stepped through the door, I was impressed about the amount of kindness and care I felt from the staff, from the front desk person, technician, and lastly, Dr. Littlehale. I made a last minute appointment to take in my hamster, Swarley, because I had found blood in his urine. I did not expect good news because of Swarley’s age and recent rapid decline in activity, but was still sadden to hear that Dr. Littlehale believed that the little fella had cancer. Pain relief was prescribed to Swarley for his last few days, and the technician was kind enough to check me out from inside the exam room, so I wouldn’t have to stand by the front desk crying. As I exited, the staff apologized to me for they couldn’t have given me better news.
One of the things that truly surprised me was getting a personal phone call from Dr. Littlehale several days later, checking in with Swarley. This shows me how much Dr. Littlehale and the staff truly care about their jobs and their patients. As a future health care professional, it really gave me insight on how I should treat and care for patients, whether animal or human. It is a reminder of how to make your job more than just a job, but rather, changing lives.
Swarley has since then passed, with a peaceful death at home. In the future, if I have another pet, I would definitely make the drive back to have my furry friends checked out at this pet hospital. I definitely would recommend any pet owner, but especially those with rodents, to come here.

Dr. Littlehale and his staff recently performed an in-​depth surgery on our 3 year old lab and we have been very happy with the way they have handled the whole process. The team has answered every single question we have had and Dr. Littlehale has been in contact with us every day to follow up with Howie, even on his days off. He has made us feel we can be in touch with him or his staff at any time. We appreciate them treating our Howie as if he was their own. Thank you again to the entire staff!

Let me start by saying thank you to all the staff especially Dr.Littlehale. Everyone was always really friendly and very helpful. I brought my 11 month old rabbit Waldo in with a severe upper respiratory infection (URI) yesterday morning he was having trouble breathing and looked very weak. Dr. Littlehale explained to me he had to be hospitalized and needed treatment right away. I agreed so I left him. They reassures me I could call anytime to check on him, I knew I was leaving him in good hands. Dr called me after a few hours to let me know he was doing better but was still very weak. 5 o clock came and I called Waldo was getting his second dose of meds and they said I could pick him up anytime. I got there to pick him up and he looked a lot better! They sent him home with oral antibiotics.
Next morning (today):
This morning Dr. Littlehale called to check on Waldo he really shows he cares for animals and I will definitely be taking Waldo back here if needed again (hopefully not). He took his first dose this morning and he looks a lot better, he is eating and drinking fine! Thank you Santa Clara pet hospital!

Only place I found knowledgable of chinchilla. Great service! The staffs knew how to handle a chinchilla with ease.

Sadly, I had to put my cat Keiko to sleep today. She was 13 and was experiencing serious problems with her liver. I moved to Santa Clara 1 year ago, and the staff (Drs. Lawrence and Piert) took great care of Keiko during the year. Today’s visit was unexpected, and was handled with absolute kindness, patience (I was sobbing from the initial phone call all the way through), and professionalism.
I plan to provide a forever home to a new friend soon, and will definitely continue to bring him/​her here for care.

I have brought my African Grey to this office twice. Both times I have been blown away by the professionalism, care, friendliness and shared knowledge about pet birds.
I highly recommend this office for all avian veterinary needs.

I had a 5:40 appointment for my cat. I arrive
at 4:15 because my cat is so sick. I see the Vet sitting around doing nothing. I understand he may be on a break. I go into the room and the assistant takes my cats temperature and weight then leaves.
It’s 4:30. I hear the Vet in the lobby just shooting the breeze and he never shuts up.
I have a very sick kitty and its 4:50 now he is
ten minutes late and I’m sitting with my very sick cat in a Vets office for forty minutes.
Obviously the Vet (male) can give a shit about my sick cat. I get up and Put Sasha in the carrier and walk out. The girl in the lobby is very sweet and apologetic as I walk out. The Vet is still shooting the breeze and does not even notice. This punk should be a barber not a vet. He cares nothing of a sick animal suffering or the customers time.

I come here to give my dog her regular annual shots and buy her Revolution heart worm preventative. They give you two free tubes of Revolution if you buy directly at the clinic, which is a great deal!

It’s always hard in selecting a new vet. We are new to the area and my dog needed her vaccine boosters and a check up for her chronic ear infections… After researching reviews of local vets I stumbled upon this one and have been pleased thus far. I called over the weekend and made an appointment.
The front desk staff were welcoming and even coerced my dog into a treat to help calm her nerves. We were seen right on schedule, and take into an exam room immediately.
The vet was equally welcoming and took time to listen to my dog’s history and addressed my concerns regarding long term medications. He was also very thorough and gentle during the exam.
Both my dog (Sienna) and I look forward to our next follow up visit and continuing her care with Santa Clara Pet Hospital.

Was recommended to this vet hospital by a friend & after reading all the wonderful reviews on Unilocal,I had to check them out!
First visit, walked in & their receptionist was extremely friendly & down to earth. Checked in & had Dr. Littlehale examine my pup. He was VERY thorough & answered all my questions. He also recommended some products for my dog.
What was nice was that I didn’t feel rushed through our appointment. Dr. Littlehale also called the following day to follow up. Then I also received another call from their receptionist, following up as well.
I ordered my dog’s Rx from an online site since it was a bit cheaper & when I had problems with the site saying the vet office hadn’t approved the prescription, I called them. The receptionist offered to call the site, directly, to straighten things out for me. Later that night, I got an email stating my dog’s meds were shipped… WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE — OUTSTANDING!!!

Our chihuahua, Tigger Roo, tore his knee ligament and had to have surgery. The veterinarian and staff were excellent and able to get him in right away. He recovered very quickly and now has no issues using his leg and the wound is almost unnoticeable. A superb job on the surgery! They also called several times to see how Tigger was doing and fielded questions I had on tips to get him to take his medicine. Overall it was a very professional and friendly experience and I highly recommend them.
On a side note, we had VPI pet insurance and the whole procedure ($ 2,500+) was covered 100%. SC Pet Hospital worked with us to get copies of receipts and made the process go very smoothly.

Being an owner of an old shih-​tzu, I learned the importance of a good pet hospital, pet emergency clinic and pet insurance. After shopping around for a while, we ended up being regulars at the Santa Clara Pet Hospital.
Staff is very courteous, caring and even if they are booked, they make sure that we can bring our dog over very quickly in case of an emergency.
Hats off especially to Dr. Jennifer Lawrence. She is an amazing doctor and completely cured complicated fungal skin infection of our little baby shih tzu girl. Every time I have to bring her over I make sure that I ask for Dr. Lawrence.

La gentille réceptionniste m’a proposé un rendez-​vous ou seulement un vidage de glandes anales.
Il s’est avéré que c’était bien cela le problème.
A aucun moment je me suis sentie obligée de prendre un rdv.
Tout le monde a été très gentil, j’ai même eu plein de conseils pour m’aider à l’avenir.
Rien à redire, je recommande !

I brought my dog and cat in for an annual checkup, vaccinations, and to pick up monthly flea treatments. It’s a little stressful having to bring in a cat and dog at the same time (one is super excited to go to a fun new place, and the other is terrified at being in a scary new place). Thankfully the staff was very accommodating, and the service was lightening fast.
The wait was less than 5 minutes in the waiting room, and maybe 5 minutes in the exam room (wish my doctor’s office was this good!). The vet had an amazing bedside manner — she clearly loves getting to meet new dogs and cats every day, which makes a big difference (pets pick up on these things).
The staff was great, even helping me out since my hands were full. The whole trip was well under an hour, which my cat loved.
I picked out this clinic based on location and Unilocal reviews, and they definitely lived up to their Unilocal rating. It’s great knowing that such a high quality clinic is right here in the neighborhood.

On Monday, my pet bunny and I had our first appointment with Dr. Lawrence.
I was very very very very veeeery nervous. Bernie is my first pet and if anything were wrong with him I’d be heartbroken. I went in thinking that my little bon bon had pasteurella but thankfully it turns out that it was just dust.
Dr. Lawrence was very patient with both of us. She handled Bernie with great care and her warm and loving attitude really eased our anxiety.
Bernie also got a lovely nail trimming thanks to two very awesome technicians!
And the girls at the reception were lovely and we were seen right away.
Overall: best experience ever!

Adding one star because of the owner, Dr Littlehale took time to write me a comment in response to my review — thank you! Getting the receipt for the days of boarding when I drop off my pet will be helpful; I can even pay upfront if necessary (if you don’t feel right offering a «receipt» before payment is received, which is understandable) and I would love to see the boarding facility next time.
I’ll come here for boarding again and update my review then.
