Usually a good place to buy fresh vegetables but the coconuts we buy almost always are bad/​rotten.
Not cool.

We go here for shopping everyweekend everything is fresh, service is good but little slow may be they need more cashier.

Everything I need is under this one roof. The prices are definitely competitive if not less than other places I shop. There are several check outs so it’s fast and convenient. Grab a samosa at checkout and you won’t be disappointed!

Prices are competitive. Only issue is parking.

Used to love the store for their fresh vegetables and Indian groceries.
Recently found stones in urud dhal, green grams, moong dhal. Really worried about buying these items from them again.

My boyfriend and I moved to Santa Clara recently, and we regularly go to New India Bazar for groceries.
The produce is very reasonably priced, and my boyfriend is able to find many authentic items that he is not able to elsewhere. They sometimes serve free chai outside, which is another plus.
The only negative I can think of is that the lines are rather long on weekends.

If they get rid of the fat cashier aunty with a major attitude, then they will get back my business. My experience was similar to Deepti (earlier reviewer) where the cashier counted an item twice and upon pointing it out, gave me a major attitude for her own mistake (or was it intentional?). Until she’s gone, so long NIB!

Good place to buy Indian groceries. Since last 2 yrs i havent been to any other grocery store in santa clara. Not that i buy any grocery but i go here to get fresh cooked food: D
But then since i am already here I pretend to be shopping for regular groceries and end up picking 3 onions, 1 dosa batter, few ready to eat sabzi and the walk through all aisles in a same zig zag manner to pickup chips, goodday biscuits, bourbon and then the last aisle just because i want to: D
The place is good for your quick shopping needs to. They have fresh vegetables which many families prefer to buy daily after work. I have stop buying fruits here as they are always smashed or people keep picking up smelling and weird way to check if the fruit is ripe. I prefer safeway for fruits.
The bread pakodas are awesome. We get them for our theater practice breakfast and the chai!!!

Wow it’s a good store to buy Indian grocery. I like Indian spices. Fresh Vegetables are always available on reasonable price. Lots of choices in veges and frozen things. To go kichen and deserts are also good. I personally like samosas and jalebi. The only negative point is small parking lot.

To add there is a great kitchen (We love it) .Makes all sabzi and rice items sometimes. All the items I have tried so far are very yummy and cost way looww compared to Indian restaurants. Kitchen is must try

Wow. One of the few Indian grocery stores that is neat and clean.
Frozen: Lot of choices but mostly towards veg. Very few non-​veg ready to eat/​frozen food
Vegetables: Lot of them and slightly cheaper than the next door Patel brothers
Spices and Other: Lot of options. Could easily find multiple brands /​options for the day 2 day stuf
Food Counter: Simply Wonderful both in taste and price whether it is meals or snacks
Icing on everything: a very good cardamom tea available FREE !!!

After being a loyal customer for some time, last night I put an end to it! All because I bought a gallon of Organic Milk three days ago and before the date of expiry (which was literally within 4 days of purchase) the milk was spoiled before I could drink the first cup out of it.
When I took it back expecting an apology and a replacement to a loyal customer, what I got was a series of questions and looks as if they didnt believe me.
I walked out for the last time from this facility yesterday never to return again.
If you sell a gallon of organic milk at the same or even slightly higher price than your competitors, at least have some QC so that you dont stock up inventory that is nearing expiry. Who can consume a gallon in 3 days, yet they carry nearly expired inventory possibly because they get it on the cheap and wait for unsuspecting customers like me to buy it.

They are only 60 cents each and taste GREAT!!!
Also tried the potato bonda for 70 cents and that was bang for your buck. So full after eating one!

You’ll get all your groceries alright, but the place isn’t really the cleanest. They should probably markup the price and spruce up the place a bit. I actually haven’t been to a dirtier place, even back in India.
Wish there was a Wegmans here with an Indian isle.

There are more types of lentils and spices here than i would know what to do with in a lifetime. Holy cow. Some cooked snacks like samosas, some produce, frozen and pre packaged Indian goods. Everything you could want for your Indian cooking needs

BEWARE: They SWINDLE you by conveniently adding an item (that you didn’t buy!!!) worth $ 2-​$ 3 in your bill. My total bill was $ 25 and when I went over the bill, I noticed that I was charged for a cauliflower twice (worth $ 3). When I brought this fact to cashier’s notice, she didn’t even care to apologize and acted as if it was no big deal. Totally dissatisfied with the customer service.
Please keep an eye on the billing screen while checking out.

This is an Indian grocery store, which has a kitchen at the back of it. Here you can buy veg curries, couple of appetizers, and rotis/​parathas. Their chole, dal makhaani, dahi kadi are usually very good. yummm :) Their samosas are very tasty. Chapatis are good but are smaller in size compared to ones from India Cash and Carry. They have a good variety of sweets to buy. I believe you can buy it on per pound basis. We have tried their rasmalai and rasgulla, both are really yummy. Their rasmalai is so fresh and yummy that I bet you will finish one pound of it in couple of days ;)
At the checkout they have different varieties of appetizers. This is the only place, which sells bonda vada and bread pakora. Their bread pakora is so yummy that you will feel like buying it for next few days so that you don’t have to make a trip there everytime you crave it.
You can pay with credit-​card even for a smaller amount like 3 – 4 $. It is located in a small complex so parking gets tight on weekends and evening. Btw they have free chai (tea) on weekends. So it is definitely a perk if you a tea fan ;)

I’m accustomed to biking here once a week for dinner, groceries, or both, but I just moved to San Jose, and it’ll take a car to get there now.
I really like this store. The only reason I deducted a star is because of the produce. There are always a million flies hanging out on the produce, and, sometimes, produce that clearly has mold or other serious issues is still placed out on display. However, the prices are really low, so if you are going for hardier vegetables and fruits, it’s not an issue.
As for selection, this store has quite a lot of options. It’s basically a one-​stop shop for any Indian cuisine you plan to make. This is the only store I’ve found any time recently that carries the brand of upma that I really like.
The star of this store, in my opinion, is the cooked food that’s served in the back. There are yummy samosas and pakoras near the register, but, in the back, there is always a really delicious selection of food. I could die eating the daal makhani here; it’s so well-​spiced and delicious. You can get a combo for insanely cheap, and it comes with 2 dish selections, rice, and roti (in huge portions also!). The aloo gobi and shahi paneer are also very tasty when they’re out.

New India Bazar was the first Indian grocery I was introduced to by my hubby years ago before I became a resident in the Bay Area. The décor always make me feel like it’s Christmas ’cause of the Christmas lights. There are 3 TVs; showing some Bollywood movie with captions, has 4 cash registers, and limited parking lot. But, never mind the lot! It’s the mouthwatering samosas I’m after!
There was a time when we did our grocery here, but truth be told, I only come for the samosas. You guys, this is definitely a great place to grab some yummy samosas! For me, it was an absolute love at first taste! :D OK, for those of you who’s never had this delightful delicacy snack; it’s a pastry (fried or baked) with potatoes, peas and some spices. This is the vegetarian version. Some places sell them with meat; chicken, lamb or beef. They’re large, freshly cooked, and come with chilli pakora sauce. You just gotta add the sauce to be a perfect, perfect (Yes, I’m saying it twice!) combination and just let the savory smell & crunchy taste explode in your mouth! Explosion madness. I know one thing, and one thing only, my taste buds are in heaven and having a wild party when I’m devouring their samosas.
So come by and grab one, or two! It’s only .60 cents each, and make sure to ask for the chilli pakora sauce. Mmm mmm.
Just a note: service is so-​so. Don’t be surprised if you don’t get a smile ’cause I never do. I would give this a straight up 5, but customer service is a big deal for me. The lady here makes me feel like I’m not welcomed every time. One time I was waiting in line behind an Indian customer, and the lady at the cash register smiled and small talked with her for a bit. Then came my turn. No smiles, and a little irritated after hearing I only came to buy some samosas. Maybe ’cause she expects me to buy more other than the samosas? Or maybe it’s just the cultural difference? Who knows! I just think of the samosas… Samosas! :D
