I send everyone that I know who has transmission/​clutch issues, to Manjit. He is THE man. When I had my first car, a 2000 Ford Mustang, I purchased a limit slip differential for it but I couldn’t find a shop that was able to install it. I searched around Google, around some forums, and the conclusion I came do was this one and another shop, I don’t recall the other shop’s name however. I decided to give MS Auto Gears a shot because after I had called both shops over the phone, Manjit actually gave me a cheaper average rate. He told me to bring the car in so I said ok. I don’t remember the exact conversation we had, as this was well over three years ago, but I brought my mustang in, and it only took a day for them to install. I dropped my car off as soon as they were opened and picked my car up an hour before they closed. It definitely was quicker than I had expected as I thought it would take a few days, seeing as how they were working on numerous cars at the time. Ever since then, with my second car, a 2012 Lexus IS250, I brought it to Manjit without hesitation because him and his son do amazing work, are super quick, and their pricing is unbeatable. I live quite a way from his shop too, as I used to live in Los Gatos so that’s about a 20 minute drive from LG. So bottom statement is, if you have a transmission/​posi rear end issue, bring it to them. They won’t disappoint. I just found out that the limited slip I swapped into my 2012 may actually be compatible with the 2015 IS250 which is now my current daily so if it is, Manjit, I’ll see you again soon! haha

Manjit & son rebuilt my ’90 Toyota truck’s transmission for a great price when my regular mechanic had nothing for me but a shrug. In desperation, I scoured the Toyota forums for local shops with good reviews. I gave them a try & was very pleasantly surprised. Super customer service & they know their stuff. I would not hesitate to recommend them!

Honest, fast service at a very reasonable price. After being referred to MS Auto Gears by an employee at Auto Zone, I checked reviews & went in to compare their quote and advice with all the other (many) places I’d gone. After spending a tremendous amount of time beforehand (& a fair amount of money) to finally correctly diagnose my Tacoma’s check-​engine light as a result of a leaky exhaust valve, these guys gave me a quick, accurate, and economical quote to fix my problem (a valve job). I needed the work to be done before my vehicle would pass emissions. MS Auto Gears did what I requested at the price that they’d quoted, in a short amount of time. They are very knowledgeable, fair, honest, and trustworthy. I wouldn’t hesitate to take my car there again for something I couldn’t do myself, and would recommend their services to anyone looking for quality automobile service. Top notch.

If you are looking for a great, honest mechanic, look no further! I was referred to MS Auto by Raffi from AutoZone. Raffi was always so great when I needed things from AutoZone, so helpful and very polite. I trusted his judgement on where to go. We took our 1997 Jeep Cherokee that was having the «Death Wobble» shake, to MS Auto Gears. Our family had spent hundreds & hundreds at another mechanic, trying to fix the problem. Each time, the mechanic was changing this, or that but our jeep was still getting the shake/​wobble on the freeway– pretty scary. One trip to MS Auto Gears and our jeep was working fine. We took our 2007 Jeep Commander that had water pump damage, etc, just recently and they did an awesome job. Mel and his father Manjit are amazing Mechanics and Honest people and I am grateful that our family have been blessed with great mechanics. I highly recommend them! Go see them and don’t waste your time & money with the other folx! These guys know their stuff, do it well & don’t cheat you for it!

I took my 1993 BMW 325is there for a rear subframe reinforcement. I also had many parts that I wanted to add to the car. Both father and son worked side by side and did a very good job. They went above and beyond what was needed and made my car pretty solid. I’m going to go back there for sure for any problems I run in to with the bimmer. They always have a couple cars waiting to be worked on. So it’s kinda obvious they’re doing a good job because why else would so many people be going there. TIP: call ahead and make an appt.

Best auto repair shop in the bay speciallizing in 4×4 Jeeps and Toyotas. Although, they work on all makes and models. Tuneup prices are very competitive and I like the fact that they use OEM dealer parts. Name another shop that does that. Since they’re a gear shop as well, they work on transmissions and rear ends. Most other shops will sublet this work out to another shop leaving the customer with no choice but to trust this «other» shop. MSAG gets this work from dealers where they charge their customers more. You can find cheaper places for oil changes but call MS Auto gears for your next major repair or tune up. They’re prices are competitive and they do excellent work. They have low overhead, the appearance of the shop is not about aesthetics, and they’re not in the most convenient location but their service and prices is what matters most. I drive down from Yuba City just to have them work on my cars. I started going to MS Auto Gears when they first opened up a few years back. I trusted the owner who worked as a mechanic at another 4×4 shop that closed down after they relocated to southern California. Manjit went on his own and established MS Auto Gears.

Mr Manjit has always amazed me with the quality of his work and his reasonable prices. I have referred several of my friends to him too who have only good things to say about him too. Highly recommended!

Manjit and his son Malkit are two of the nicest mechanics I have ever come across…100% honest and very knowledgeable… they are very reasonable I have found when comparing other shops… it is hard today to find an honest and respected mechanic… once you do they are as good as gold… MS Auto Gears is the only place we now trust for all of our vehicles…
Last winter my Chevy Blazer had heating issues. I went round Santa Clara, Mtn View, Sunnyvale got quotes from high and mighty and the prices was ridiculous. A business in Mtn View actually billed me $ 80/​hr labour excluding diagnosis + parts, ridiculous.
I was finally referred to Manjit and I gave him a shot, took my truck in for oil change + the heating issue and guess what Manjit not only had my truck ready in a few hours but also didn’t change me for the heating. He found out I only had a clogged heating hose and he was honest enough to unclogged it for free and also fixed my front fenders as icing on the cake.
No disrespect to the mechanics but it’s hard to find one that won’t pick your bone clean at the slightest chance. Manjit’s MS Auto was an exception and he comes highly recommended not just for being honest but he know he’s onion when it comes to working on cars“
I was very impressed with this mechanic. I took my Jeep Wrangler into the dealer and they quoted me $ 2700+ to replace the rear differential ring & pinion and bearing kit. I found Ms Auto Gear and they charged me $ 600 for the exact same thing! They were polite and explained everything. It was a pleasure to work with them.
As they were fixing my Jeep, they noticed the the clutch disc kit also needed to be replaced. They charged me $ 90 for the extra part and $ 0 for extra labor. He said that he was already in the car working on the same parts, so there wouldn’t be any extra labor charge! What mechanic do you know that would actually say this? I was thrilled.
Picked up my Jeep and told him I would write a great review and pass around his business cards to my co-​workers.
I definitely, definitely recommend this auto mechanic.“

I have a 1988 Toyota pickup with 155,000 miles that I have owned for 19 years. For 2 years I noticed a bearing noise from the transmission, louder when it was in 5^th gear. For 2 years I tried to find a local shop that could rebuild my transmission and knew Toyotas. I did not want to buy a rebuilt or used transmission from a wrecking yard. I wanted my original transmission rebuilt.
I found Manjit by chance because he is next door to a Porsche shop that was replacing the clutch on my Boxster. Manjit showed me around his shop and I spoke to him several times while my Boxster was next door. Manjit knows his stuff. His knowledge is not limited to Toyotas. Also knows Jeeps, Montero, Hummer, and I think anything that moves or crawls. He not only rebuilds transmissions, but rear ends, transfer cases, and rebuilds engines. Also restores vehicles from the ground up. If a part is no long available he makes it!
Manjit pulled my transmission and when it was apart he called me so I could look. I had 2 bad bearings. Manjit put in a rebuild kit that includes new Japanese bearings, syncros, seals, and gaskets. I also asked him to resurface the flywheel, put in a clutch kit, and replace the rear oil seal.
I was lucky to find Manjit by chance after 2 years of searching for a local shop to rebuild my transmission. My 20 year old pickup now drives like it did when I bought it 19 years ago

A friend mentioned he needed his 4 X 4 worked on and asked me to follow him to the repair shop.
«Left after the dinosaur»? Yep, hard to find, but easy to locate. That was over two years ago. Since then, MS Auto has worked on our family’s Expedition, Civic, Buick and Tacoma 4 X 4. The shop is family owned and these gentlemen are expert, talented mechanics. They are honest and kind; they take pride in their work and are completely professional. All charges are discussed upfront and I’ve never been dissatisfied. Transmissions, A/​C, brakes, prior-​purchase inspections and oil changes.
If I was asked what they do best I’d say Toyota’s & transmissions. Worst? Parking.
It’s a busy, multi business «U» shaped lot and there’s not a lot of unassigned spaces. All of my service was done by appointment, so it wasn’t a problem.
I wish they worked on motorcycles. I would never take my cars anywhere else.

On the advice of my tech in Santa Cruz, too my truck to Manjit, who just rebuilt the auto tranny in my ’01 Toyota 4Runner.
Great price, fast service, OEM parts, great result. I like these guys a lot.
He’s been a transmission /​drivetrain guy for 35 years, working all kinds of brands (lots of german-​car experience). I’d take my BMW to him if the tranny ever self-​destructed too.
There’s some talk of what he specializes in (Jeeps, Toyotas, Isuzus) — but this guy is really just a master transmission /​TC /​differential and transfer case guru. He’s seen it all.
Don’t buy a used tranny. Don’t go to the dealer for 2X the cost. Have him tear your failed gearbox down and rebuild it for you for the same price as used and *half* the price of anything the dealer quotes you.
Good warranty, straightforward man.
