Eh. I’m a huge, long time fan of Moveable Feasts. I really wanted to like this one. I think they really set themselves up to fail with the timing of this one. There is /never/anybody there. You’d think this would be good/fun — no lines, food is super fast, etc. Those things are good. But. Part of the fun of the other events is that there are so many people there. You spy on what everyone else is eating and use that to decide what you’re going to eat. Or you see which truck has the longest line and get in that one because obvs they have the best food. Plus, the fact that there’s nobody there means none of the trucks are making any money. And that means the good trucks are going to stop coming. I hope this event lasts until school starts up again. If they’d started when school was in session, they could’ve built up a better traffic base for the event. Maybe they need to advertise more to the 50 bazillion tech companies down the street? Not sure. But. Not sure this one is going to last.

Last Wednesday was my first time trying Moveable feast. From pictures I have seen via Unilocal and Instagram, I was expecting it to be a lot bigger. There were only about 6 trucks total and barely anyone there. Because there were so few trucks, my girlfriends and I decided to try one thing from each truck. Our top food recommendations: Road Dog — try the low carb(no bun) kamikaze tofu dog(without bacon). Great flavor and a very unique food choice. The tofu dog is $ 1 extra, but the no carb option is $ 1OFF! Do not forget to try their tator tots. They are orgasmic! The epitome of comfort food. 3−3−3 — If you are either vegetarian or just want to be a little adventurous, try the paneer tika rice plate with garlic naan. For those who do not know, it is an Indian cheese served in a yummy and flavorful red sauce. The rice plate came with couple scoops of yellow rice, yogurt sauce, and a fresh salsa. Very very delicious! Fairy Cupcakes — For dessert my girls and I tried 6 mini cupcakes. They were having a deal of buy 5 and get one free(Cupcakes priced at $ 3 each). We tried the turtle cheesecake, mayor lemon cupcake, birthday cake, mint cookies and cream, churro, and s’mores. Out of those 6 cupcakes, I would absolutely recommend the two cheesecake cupcakes and the churro! They were absolutely delicious — not too sweet but still very flavorful! I would not recommend the birthday cake. It is a simple yellow cake with what tasted like store bought chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles. There was no flavor or creativity to the cupcake. Basically something you could whip up in your own kitchen. Overall, I would definitely come back. Everything was reasonably priced and the staff at each truck was so friendly. I know that they sometimes have different trucks each time so I can’t wait to try something new.

Moveable Feast’s continued expansion has now hit Mission College. Smart of them to take up the square on the edge of campus towards Great America parkway. About 8 trucks showed up with soul music and plenty of eats. A great way for a quick dinner on wed nights now… 3 Brothers Kitchen Fairycakes Got Curry?
