The doctor seemed fine, but the time it took to get my glasses and contacts was ridiculous. Can’t recommend.

I accompanied my wife in search of new glasses and we brought the prescription from another optometrist. Apparently there were issues with the prescription, shape and size of the glasses and both the salesperson (Mr. Augie) and his manager (Ms. Trudy) patiently worked with us. Twice they ordered new frames and glasses and never faltered in offering excellent customer service. They even went further and gave my wife a more expensive frame at no additional charge seemingly for the trouble we had gone through. We highly recommend this place.

Dr. Scott Holbert is the best! He took his time getting my eye prescriptions just perfect and found that my old numbers were way off! The selection of glasses there is wonderful and my experience was just great.

Don’t go here! Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I should have not, dis-​missed, the reviews some of the other people wrote regarding this place and decided to just go with it thinking it cant be that bad. WOW, was I wrong!
I started off with Sunglasses. This was at the end of the year, right around December 28^th. Figured I’ll come back and get a new pair of real glasses in January.
I called, and called and the Sunglasses were not in. I was told that they will contact me when they do arrive… WRONG!
I just happened to be in the mall around January 21^st and decided to drop in and find out what’s taking so long. Guess what, the glasses are there… really?
So I put them on… can’t see out of them. I can see up close, but not far away. They put the wrong prescription in there.
I should have a prescription for Sunglasses and then another for my regular reading glasses for seeing up close and computer work. So I asked for a print out of my prescriptions… and there is only One listed… there should be Two. So when the Sunglasses were sent off, they sent only the prescription for my reading glasses.
The store manager said I have to come back and see the doctor or they can give me my money back.
Just do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I do this every year but thought I would try some place new with a different selection of frames, etc.
Big mistake and I won’t be coming back.

They are pretty good with their collection. The only problem is the time it takes from start to finish. Also their response times are pretty slow especially when you call and ask for the status.
The attitude of some of the people at the front desk is not appreciable!!! Hopefully they understand that part and fix it. There is not a lot of people around who understand and help find the right choice and so you would end up waiting for Ausie.
I liked it the first time when I was here and from then on things seem to be going south.
Might look around to see if there s a better place.

This review is overdue. I’ve been coming here and to the one in Oakridge for years.
I’ve never been disappointed with them — they always fix my toddler’s glasses even though we didn’t buy them here. They are very thorough and professional, and they aren’t condescending. I’ve been wearing glasses/​contacts for 21 years so I am not a rookie, and they actually listen and respect the feedback I give them on past experiences with certain prescription combos and lens styles.
I am frustrated when I read negative comments on here by people who are complaining about the wait time. It’s clear these people do not understand the glasses buying process. Unless you are going to LensCrafters and have a pretty standard prescription, you are going to wait weeks for your glasses to come in.
If you try on a frame, and decide that exact frame (in that exact color) is the one you want, the opticians will send the frame and the prescription to the lens factory on the next business day. You will get them back in 7 – 14 days unless there is something about your order that has to be special ordered by the lens factory (an example would be unusual specialty lenses).
If you try on a frame, and want a slightly different style or a different color, the order time gets quite a bit longer, because before they send the lens to the factory, they FIRST MUST ORDER THE FRAME FROM A DIFFERENT PLACE. So you will usually have wait 7 – 14 days for your frame to arrive at the optician before they can even send it to the lens factory to have the lenses cut and installed. And that time can triple if the color or style you want is backordered.
Because I know this, I don’t wait to order glasses or contacts until I’m on my last pair. I expect and plan for the wait time. The one time I absolutely needed glasses in a rush, Holbert & Associates came through. One week before we left on a vacation, we realized we needed to order prescription swim goggles for my toddler. I explained our rush to the optician, and because I understand the process, I made sure to choose the goggles they had in stock in the store even though they were not our preferred color. Holbert & Associates didn’t make any promises, but they said they’d do their best. And guess what? The goggles arrived in the nick of time, which was only 5 business days.
Dr. Scott Holbert and his father Dr. Jeffrey Holbert (who works in Oakridge) are competent professionals and are great at balancing their responsibilities as doctors with their responsibilities as business owners. They provide great service, and I feel appreciated as a customer.

Very bad experience. I went here because I lived nearby. They promised my new glasses will come in two weeks which was not true. I came on a Saturday to ask for my prescription as I wanna order through some other place. They make me waited for half an hour for them to print my prescription. Bad service and I will not come back.

This place is no good at all. They have lost me because of their bad customer service. The front desk is not friendly and this place only thinks about money not helping the patinet. I ordered contact lense and it delayed for four weeks to recieved them. I am not happy with this place even though I used to love this place. This is so sad.

This place is no good I had to return twice to fix my frame and the second time they did not put my lenses on correctly I do not recommend this place.

I bought my dior eyeglasses in China. I lostvone srew and then went to this store. They repaired my eyeglasses by free.

My wife and I coming to this place since last year. First I met Irene, she’s very pleasant for helping me. She actually recomend for me to try the Progressive lense at I’m kinda hesitant to do it because from single vision to progressive. Which a huge difference but anyhow cut the story I really love my Progressive lense!

I’m not a fan of this office. The Optometrists my fiancé and I saw were very polite and efficient which is why I’m giving it two stars but the office is run poorly and their standards of quality are terrible.
My fiancé and I went in for our first appointments in July 2014. We both ordered glasses; his for reading and mine for continuous wear. We received our glasses within 2 — 3 weeks. Within 4 months we both had issues with our glasses. Screws were coming out of my glasses (unusual after only four months) and the hinge on my fiancé’s glasses came apart. When we brought them in to be fixed, they were able to fix mine right away but they needed to send in my fiancé’s. He also wanted to have a scratch on his lens fixed. They estimated they would be back within 10 days. We received a phone call around 10 — 15 days saying they received the frames and we would need to bring the lenses in. This should have been a flag that they don’t read their paperwork because they had sent the lenses in to be fixed. A month later we re-​visited the office because we hadn’t heard anything else. Apparently there was some «misunderstanding» because they had the lenses the whole time. They had someone work on setting the lenses while we waited. After 15 minutes the lens specialist came out and said he would have to send the lenses back because they sent the wrong size and he scratched them trying to put them back in. Then he changed his story and said they sent him scratched lenses. When we asked how long it would take, he said «Standard time is 10 days but you’ll get them when you get them». That is absolutely unacceptable. First they screwed up with their «misunderstanding» by not knowing they already had the lenses. Then by the lens specialist lying to us about the quality the lenses were in when they arrived, and then by telling us we’d have to wait when we’d already been waiting for over a month. If a company messes up, it’s on them to make it right if they want to keep their customers. They should have offered an expedite. My fiancé was going on 1+ month of having to use an old pair of glasses with an expired prescription that was giving him headaches. One month later, we were finally able to go back in to pick up his glasses. Why a month later when they quoted 10 days? «We left messages on both phones». They left no messages whatsoever and they had the correct numbers. The 2^nd time around they also sent the newly scratched lenses to the same company who repaired the frames to get an exact fit. Why the hell didn’t you do that the first time?
It’s been 7 months and both nose pieces on my glasses are falling out. Not the little plastic tab, but the whole piece that attaches the plastic tab to the frames. On inspection they’re snap in pieces so I’ve snapped them back in thinking it’s a quick fix but they keep falling out. I’m going to super glue them because taking them back to Dr. Holbert’s office is not and option, I don’t think they’re capable of providing quality products or service.
All in all I’m pretty pissed off at their service or lack thereof. We paid $ 200 per pair and that was after our insurance covered half only to have them continuously fall apart. I’ve been wearing glasses for 30+ years and I’ve never had a pair fall apart like these ones. Even as a kid when I wasn’t as careful with my things were screws falling out and noses pieces snapping off over and over again.
Dr. Holbert’s front staff makes excuses when things go wrong and brush off concerns. We will not be returning and I will be purchasing new glasses elsewhere when my insurance rolls back around.

The staff is very professional and caring and helps you save money I would recommend them to anybody

Like others I’m done with this place too. I made the manager aware of this when I spoke to her over the phone and she had nothing to say but «Sorry.» If you want to keep a customer satisfied and not lose them, then you would do anything you could to make it right. I gave her a chance to make it right and correct what the others had messed up but she clearly didn’t see it.
Poor communication by their floor staff and secretaries behind the counter or whatever they call them, has caused me aggravation and delays in getting my glasses.
In general, this store doesn’t stock anything and farm it all out to their «lab» which can take weeks to get done. They also carry a bunch of lousy brands, don’t have them in any sort of rational order, and have a very limited selection for men in store. When I first got my eye exam a few months ago in August, I asked for a «cut sheet» meaning a pamphlet for the brands they carry. This was so I wouldn’t waste my time trying to look at the very slim selection of guys frames they have and just look online to find a pair I liked and then have them order them. The gal didn’t understand my request at first, but finally understood after I explained and she wrote them down on a business card. Ok. I guess it works… kinda. What I meant was for her to get the list from their supplier or have a pamphlet available. A good employee would’ve seen this as an opportunity to improve the store and just take the time to make one…5 minutes tops. Not difficult at all. But I got scribbled down what she could remember off the top of her head or see in store.
My biggest complaint is that the fact no one in the office seems to communicate with one another. I speak to someone months after I got my eye exam to finally place an order for my eyeglasses. They take my order and I think «Great. Finally I’ll have new glasses in a couple weeks.» If only.
Nah. Couldn’t be that simple. I get a call and they say they can’t order the color style of the frames but could order another color of the same style or the same ones I had ordered previously. Sure. Let me think about it. Returned to the store about a week or so later and after waiting for about 30 minutes for someone… anyone that worked there to help me said I was finally able to tell one of the guys okay, let’s just order the other color. Now the guy tells me they can’t even order that frame anymore altogether. Okay. Well a call to my cell would’ve been nice to know this information prior to my wasting time to come down to the store to make sure things got handled correctly rather than trying to do it over the phone. But it got messed up and I didn’t even get the courtesy of a phone call. Stuck without new eyeglasses. Yay.
Finally fed up I’ve cancelled my order and I’m going to take my business elsewhere. If they wanted to keep my business… find another supplier for the frames that I requested. Send them to your lab and stick the damn lenses in them. Then charge me for them. I would’ve most likely paid the cost difference if given this option. Thats LITERALLY ALL IT WOULD’VE TAKEN TO KEEP ME AS A CUSTOMER. Granted your «margin» on them from another supplier might not be as favorable as your normal supplier, but shouldn’t that be worth the value to keep a customer?
Now the actual doctors are very good and knowledgable. It’s the support staff, sales floor staff and general people milling around the counter that are what’s truly crippling this office.
It really is a shame because I have always tried to give the local companies a shot at my business but when a place like this is just lousy at everything after the vision exam it makes the whole process worthless.
I will also be filing a complaint with my vision provider in hopes they get dropped from them too.

This office has lost me as a customer. They used to have amazing doctors with great staff. Every time I visit in the past year, I have left regretting I ever went in.
First, during my visit, the doctor says the pressure behind my eyes is high and recommends marijuana as treatment. The same visit I am sold a pair of frames with a bridge that’s too small and wasn’t measured. I was recommended to buy special lenses and when it came to pay for the frames — two of the employees fought over me, while the girl insisted «he always takes my stuff».
I have a follow up visit for a «one time exception» to replace the frames that are leaving abrasions on my nose. I end up buying the same frames I had a year ago in a different color. The lenses make my eyes strain worse because they’re covered in a weird purple glare so I wear my old ones unless I’m in the sun because they are also transitional.
Today, I go to get my contact lenses and I’m forced to pay a fee that they «forgot» to charge me months ago, for a copy of my prescription. Which I already had in my email and had used to order contacts. I only wanted the copy to buy lenses elsewhere because I wanted them same-​day.
I will not go back here. I advise those considering it to steer clear. There are other eye care professionals in this venue who actually are professionals.

My husband and I have been coming here for years. How can you not love the convenience of seeing your doctor in between shopping and doing lunch? Duh! No brainer here.
I lost my glasses a few months ago and being that it was 3 days before the end of the year, I needed to get them replaced ASAP before my insurance deadline. I was able to call in a get a morning appointment right away. Yay! This allowed me to run into Macy’s really quick and exchange the very LARGE belt I bought the hubs by mistake before my 10:10am appointment. Okay … I was pushing it and yes, I was 3 minutes late but hey I made it right?
5 minutes of paperwork and I was off to see the one and only Dr. Holbert himself. A few puffs of air in each eye, room change, reading some letters on the wall and poof … I was done. No change to my original prescription and I was off to pick my new specks. I’d pre-​shopped a few days before so I had several frames I liked already. I narrowed it down to 3 when the nice young lady asked me to have a seat and show her which ones I’d picked. Two thumbs up, one down. Okay, now we’re down to two. Color and weight were the deal breakers here and ta-​da! We had a winner in less than 5 minutes.
The personal service here is great, no hard sell on the upgrades and they made it a truly pleasant experience. I mean let’s get real here. I had more shopping to do. Two weeks and I’ll have my specks again which means I wont have any excuse for all my typos …

This place used to be good as I have been going here for about 6 years or so. However my recent experience here leads me to think that this place has really become very bad.
They used to have very good doctors (like Lensky), but recently they have been going through a lot of changes (In the last 2 years I have seen 4 – 5 different doctors) and the quality of doctors has deteriorated. I still kept going as it was conveniently located in the mall and hours were good. They have good selection of frames (and that’s why I gave the second star).
My last experience is what changed everything. They gave me a wrong prescription. My glasses started to give me headache. I went back and they corrected it, but the glasses are still making me dizzy. They have asked me to come back. I am not sure how this will be resolved. But all this trouble to get a prescription glass is not worth it. Customer service is really bad as they don’t try to be helpful…
Because of the bad quality of doctors, not able to get the prescription correctly and just not have enough empathy for the issues (Just for the last glasses I have made 5 trips without any resolution).will make me take my business else where. You can find better places out there and not have to deal with these types of bad business with bad front desk people.

My glasses were literally falling of my face — loose screw — when we walked in, about 15 minutes before closing. I handed them to the sales lady and hoped for the best. Her friendliness, professionalism and customer service was amazing. Within 5 minutes my glasses were as good as new.
For a service thats practically free and took a limited amount of time, the high level of customer service at this location was notable. I will be going back for future eye needs.

I’ve been coming here for years and years. I was the only patient in the beginning and as my kids grew up they too, have become patients. We owe it all to my amazingly faulty genes.
There is a Dr. Holbert, Dr. Jeffrey Holbert. I’ve only met him a couple of times. Dr. Trinh has been helping us all this time and I’ve always been happy with her. She’s patient with the kids which is great since being near– sighted at a young age can be… a challenge.
Sometimes I drop in to have my kids’ glasses tightened or loosened depending on what they smashed into that day and the staff has always been really helpful and they do it free of charge. One time my kid ripped one of her contacts. They ordered her a new pair no extra charge since it was under a year since the original purchase. Warranty for contacts?! Yes!
I like this Sunnyvale location better than the Valley Fair one. The VF branch can get too busy.
