Specialties

Operating in the UCSB Department of Recreation for over 30 years, UCSB Adventure Programs is Santa Barbara’s University Outdoor Program specializing in SCUBA Certification, Kayaking, Climbing, Backpacking, Canoeing, Canyoneering, Paragliding, Wilderness First Aid/​First Responder Certification, and Outdoor Leadership Training. UCSB Adventure Programs also operates a full-​service indoor Climbing Center and Ropes Course.

History

Established in 1978.

What began in 1978 as a couple of backpack trips, UCSB Adventure Programs has flourished into 16 program areas with over 100 staff serving over 7,500 adventurers each year.

Since I stepped onto the UCSB campus, Adventure Programs has been filling my college experience with fun, friends, and never-​ending opportunities for unbelievable adventures. Santa Barbara is lucky to have an organization that helps people take advantage of the mountains, ocean, and endless beauty the Santa Barbara area has to offer!

At the end of all the activities the leaders asked us to name one word to describe the experience, EXHILIRATING!!! Because I bruise so easily I definitely came home with a bunch of battle scars but they were worth it. If you’re afraid of heights like I am then when you’re at the top don’t look down.
Otherewise it was an awesome experience one to definitely cross of your list of things to do.
