Playback Recording Studio is a world-class sound recording studio and post-production house for the entire entertainment industry. The studio is a 4,200 square foot facility where musicians, producers, voice-over artists and other professionals in the music, film and entertainment industry will have access to one of the most technologically advanced, fully equipped, and sophisticated recording studios in the country.
During the October 2009 AES show in New York, Playback Recording Studio received the prestigious TEC Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement for Studio Design Project.
The facility includes a live room large enough to accommodate any size group from the recording of a four-piece band to a fifteen-piece orchestra. The studio also includes multiple isolated sound booths, each with unique characteristics for achieving endless audio environments from which to build a multitude of professional recording platforms to create virtually any sound.
History
Established in 2000.
Playback Recording Studio began in New York City by Tucker Bodine and later relocated to Santa Barbara in 2006. It took over two years to build the intimate 4,200 sq ft. facility, for which it received the prestigious 2009 TEC Award for Studio Design Project. Because of the combination of aesthetics and acoustics, clients from all facets of the entertainment industry are attracted to this studio.
Playback Recording Studio has worked with over 75 bands and many film and television clients in the short five years they have been open. The studio has worked with Katy Perry, Jeff Bridges, LOST, Discovery Channel to name a few.
Meet the Business Owner
Tucker B.
Business Owner
Tucker Bodine grew up in Philadelphia, PA and moved to New York City after college, where he enrolled in The Institute of Audio Research (IAR). After graduating top 5 in his class, he enrolled in The School of Audio engineering (SAE), where he graduated top 10.
After finishing school, he worked for world-renowned drummer Joe Franco at Beatstreet Productions.
Tucker then joined Sony Music Studios. He was an assistant engineer in the mix rooms and also worked with mastering engineers for artists such as DMX, Alicia Keys, Destiny’s Child, and Ricky Martin.
Tucker worked with Peter Fish of Tonic Post-Production where he assisted with Volkswagen, Mazda, HBO, and 48 Hours.
Tucker relocated to Manhattan, renaming it Playback Recording Studio. He recorded and mixed many bands at this location including RUN-DMC.
In 2008, Tucker Bodine opened Playback Recording Studio in Santa Barbara, CA., where it now thrives due to the meticulous acoustic design by renowned studio designer, Chris Pelonis.
