We are a full-​service music store specializing in band & orchestral instruments. We offer:

–expert repairs on woodwind, brass, orchestral string and fretted instruments,

–name-​brand rentals at affordable rates,

–in-​store lessons, and

–a wide variety of sheet music and instrument accessories.

History

Established in 1986.

It all started here, right here on De la Vina Street!

In 1974 a young Nick Rail went to work as a repair tech at La Grandeur Music on upper De La Vina Street in Santa Barbara. Mr. La Grandeur retired in 1984, and the business was sold.

Did Nick like his new boss? Let’s just say he opened up right across the street two years later, in a 9×13 square foot retail space with a shop in the back and one employee. The business grew, and we moved to our current location in 1994.

Fast forward to today and we’re still in Santa Barbara, but now there are six stores instead of one! Agoura Hills (1998), Santa Clarita & Redlands (2002), Poway (2006), and Bakersfield (2009) are all now part of the family!

Meet the Manager

Kristin P.

Manager

Originally from the Bay Area, Kristin started concert band in 5^th grade, followed by wind ensembles, marching band, orchestra, and chamber music groups throughout junior high and high school.

Kristin earned degrees in music and biology from UC Santa Barbara and then went to work in the pet and veterinary industry.

Despite passion for her work, Kristin missed the world of music, and when the opportunity came to join Nick Rail Music in 2014, the decision was an easy one.
