I checked around on Unilocal to be sure to have a good experience and not get ripped off or have my time wasted. And I chose correctly! I pulled up, Scott took care of the smog check, charged me the advertised $ 35.95 for the service (I paid by credit card, which took some doing, but was right in the end), and I was driving away exactly 10 minutes later. It helps to call ahead just to give them a head’s up and to see how long the wait is, but no appointment needed.
I am a bit of an efficiency expert in my field, and I can say Scott is one of the most efficient (and fair priced!) people doing this. On top of doing his job well, he was friendly and courteous. I live in Santa Maria now, and I still plan on coming back here for my next smog check in a few years. I see no reason to go anywhere else.

Next time you need the dreaded, inconvenient smog test, go to Kennedy’s. I showed up without an appointment & my heart sank because everyone was so busy working on engines, brakes etc. I brought a book because I’m used to the hour or more smog check service. To my surprise, I was told to pull my vehicle up to a very busy bay & a technician took a few minutes to hook up the car & enter my dmv info. The test was completed in about 7 minutes & the fee beats anything I’ve paid in the past. This place rocks!

If you need to get your car smogged, GO HERE! All the guys were super nice, and the smog guy, I believe his name is Scott, was rad. He’s crazy fast. I was in and out of there in under 10 minutes. The price was amazing. way cheaper than a lot of places I was researching. Out the door price $ 35.95 with certification; they give you a $ 2 discount off that if you pay in cash.

Went there twice: on a Monday afternoon and a Tuesday morning and the smog check guy wasn’t there.
He had gone to get some food both times.
I went to Star smog check instead a short 3 minute drive away, who matches anybody’s price.

Called on a Friday morning and needed it done that day to avoid late DMV penalty, and was told to bring it right in. Arrived within 20 minutes and was told it would take about 10 minutes. It was done and I was out in 5 minutes. $ 35 with a credit card. Can’t beat the price or the service!

Best value in town! Easy to get in and out, while we waited we checked out an issue on my windshield wipers and turns out it is the motor, but that inspection was done as a courtesy. Great, friendly and fast service. Highly recommend.
