Established in 2004.

In 2004, long time Santa Barbara friends Kevin Goodwin (computer software engineer/​broker) and John Thyne (attorney/​broker/​professor) launched this innovative professional real estate services company with a groundbreaking commission structure and exceptional service. John J. Thyne III is an attorney, real estate broker, Realtor® and Professor of Law. He and his friend Kevin Goodwin are co-​owners of one of the most successful real estate brokerages in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Together they have been awarded «Most Outstanding Mid-​Size Company in Santa Barbara»; «Top 40 Under 40 Business Executives»; «Most Outstanding Real Estate Company»; «Best of» Real Estate Brokerages by the Independent and more. John Thyne has been awarded Distinguished Leader of Santa Barbara in 2014, Most Outstanding Law Professor, Most Outstanding Young Attorney, Everyday Hero, and more. He serves as President of the University Club of Santa Barbara and has been president of Leadership Santa Barbara County, president of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association, and many other community organizations. A friend referred me to Anthony because he is an experienced real estate professional and he has great integrity. He made my experience as a first-​time home buyer enjoyable and nearly stress-​free. I never felt pressured to make any decisions, to move forward on a property that I wasn’t completely comfortable with, or to sign any documents that I didn’t understand. I recently met «Caitlin Benson» on a home inspection for first time buyers, as Real Estate Inspector of seventeen years; I was quite impressed with her integrity and client first attitude.
It was really nice to have have a agent truly encourage me to take my time and do a thorough inspection. I was all also impressed in her in dealings with her client’s. Caitlin was up front with them with my findings and stated to her clients that if they couldn’t get what they needed in the way of repairs through negotiations this may not be the home for them.

We had a very positive experience from the very beginning with Goodwin & Thyne. We initially listed our home in Santa Barbara with a «boutique» agency. We found that our original agent and broker had only wanted the listing and provided no representation for us as the seller. We ended up taking our home off the market and were very skeptical about the real estate market in Santa Barbara. We met with John and Olesya after having our home off the market for awhile. The experience was a complete 180 from what we had experienced. Olesya took ownership of our sale. From the very beginning she represented us and presented our home at its best.
I have to say that after removing our home from the market, we were initially contacted by several realtors in Santa Barbara that wanted the listing. We were «warned» that going with a «discount» broker would not give us the exposure that we needed. Do not be fooled by these misrepresentations. Goodwin Thyne is in no way a «discount» brokerage. Their international and local exposure, their attention to detail and their general interest in us as their client exceeded any and all of our expectations.
