History

Established in 1967.

Dr. Eric Edstrom came to Santa Barbara in 1990, when he joined the orthodontic practice of Drs. Laurence Abbey and Don Erb as a full partner. In 1992, after Drs. Abbey and Erb retired, Dr. Edstrom partnered with Dr. Trigonis to continue the legacy of orthodontic excellence that Drs. Abbey and Erb had established with the practice, which was the first orthodontic practice in Santa Barbara. In mid 2015, Dr. Swenson joined Drs. Edstrom & Trigonis to offer Santa Barbara County another highly qualified and compassionate orthodontist. He adds to the combined 45+ years of experience and excellence that the doctors have in helping patients of all ages achieve a healthier, more beautiful smile and bite!

Dr. Edstrom earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at UCLA on a Regents Scholarship given to the top six incoming freshmen. In his junior year, Dr. Edstrom received the William S. Kramer award from Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society as the #1 student in his class. He completed his orthodontic training at USC, receiving a Master of Science in Craniofacial Biology and a Certificate in Orthodontics.

Dr. Trigonis graduated top of his class, earning his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1989. He continued his post-​doctoral education at UCLA, obtaining a Masters of Science Degree in Oral Biology, and Certificates in both Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics and Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Trigonis is one of very few dual-​trained orthodontic specialists in the World. The additional degree in Pediatric Dentistry offers insight into the early treatment needs of young patients. He is the only orthodontist on the Central Coast with this training
