I came here for some carnitas tacos and they were great. Some fat in the carnitas that made it the best. This place has a hole-in-the-wall feel, but clean and good size with a restroom. Workers were friendly and nice! I will bring my wife and kids next time.

I’m going to review this place for it’s carnitas because they are the best carnitas I’ve had in Santa Ana… or really throughout the entire OC. This little restaurant shop is called ‘Carnitas Sahuayo’ and it’s right in between the mechanic’s shop and the carniceria. The restaurant is order at the counter, get your food, and sit down at one of their dozen or so tables they have. The space is decently sized. They have a salsa bar with 4 different salsas and all the condiments(radish, cucumber, limes, pickled onions). This place is known for its carnitas. I went to a shop off Bristol, in between Edinger and McFadden, and they had good carnitas, but it turned out a bit dry. So my friend’s dad suggested this place. And he was right about it. Ten times better than the carnitas you’ll have in Santa Ana. They make it fresh in the giant caso. Very tender and moist. I had 2 tacos and they were HUGE. I’m talking the amount of meat in one taco is enough for two tacos. I think they were $ 2.00 each. Very good deal. I thoroughly enjoyed the pico de gallo they had. Flavorful and somewhat spicy. Anyways, the people there are very sweet and friendly. You eat and then pay at the end. It’s an excellent place to come and get some carnitas. Would recommend this to someone who wants some authentic Mexican carnitas.

Delicious carnitas! If you enjoy hole in the wall type of places, you will love this place. We ordered tacos the carnitas and a Chile relleno; we wanted to pay and the gentlemen said to eat comfortably and pay when we finished eating. The carnitas are amazing. Not dry or too greasy. The tacos are big and they are generous with the meet. Will definitely come back.

I went here for the taquitos mentioned in another review, but there are no taquitos. I ordered taquitos, they gave me tacos. I said, «No, taquitos» He said, «yeah tacos», I said«No, taquitos», he said, «yeah, tacos». I ended up getting a chicharron burrito. Pretty big, but for $ 6.50, it should be bigger. Other than that, it was excellent. Very tasty. Extra points for the salsa bar. 3 types of salsa. The red and green were great. Red was best though. The chunky salsa,(pi co DE Gallo) was just so so. But their marinated onions were awesome. Carrots and radishes were great, too. I shall return and keep this in my top 5 Mexican joints.

I just got a HUGE chicken burrito here and it’s delicious. Good deal too. I will eat here again soon. I want to try the taquitos fried in the giant vat of molten cooking oil they have behind the counter!

As authentic as taquerias get, the specialties of the house include two kinds of chicharron, and on weekends, stewed trompa(pig snout) and oreja(pig ears). Absolutely delicious.
