Smog Test Only Centers

These guys are great! Quick, efficient and honest work. My mom and I have been going to them for years. The waiting area could use some work, but other than that I was in and out in about 30 minutes. $ 63 for car type and certificate.

Fast smog check (30 min at 12:30 on a Friday). No problems. One star off because it’s more expensive than the average place.

I’ve gone to Empire Auto Service for my smog checks for the past few years, but this morning I discovered I have to go to a STAR Certified Station since my car is getting old. After my oil change, Empire recommended I go down the block to this place. Since my registration is overdue, I didn’t bother looking up other stations in the area.
There was one other customer waiting to get their smog check when I arrived. Once that guy left, another customer arrived. I only point this out because it looks like there is only one guy running the entire place. With that many customers and staff, it took a little over half an hour to complete my test.
The credit card machine was down, luckily I had one check left. Cost $ 63 total for the car type and State Certification Fee.

You pay way too much and then only have 30 days to retest for a discounted price. Otherwise be ready to pay another 40. I explained that I couldn’t get it retested sooner because I had to drive the car a certain amount of miles to have the check engine light come back on. Anyways, I think it’s too pricey & unreasonable to pay 40 more just because you missed a 30 day deadline. Should be at least 60 days. VR Smog is less than a mile away and they have nice service and more fair price. They charge 21 if you don’t pass compared to 54 at this place. Go to VR.

This place sucks. There is only one guy doing everything and he will take your car and make you wait. I dropped it off and he said it wouldn’t take long, test only center right?!? Well, an hour later, my car was cold by then and he is just getting to my car. Of course it fails and I thought «no way dude, I just did a tune-​up on it». Next day, I went to Auto Chek center on Grand and Fairhaven, passed and I got a free Shasta. Word.
