Orange County’s Credit Union

Shitty service, customer service doesnt care about you, i stopped dealing with the Fountain Valley Branch because they just do the bare minimum and if you give them bad feedback they try and kiss your ass. NOW! i just started working a new job and got my first direct deposit… i tried to go to McDonalds not to only be declined… (embarrasing) but to find out that Orange County Credit Union put a block on my card for fraud… on May 3^rd but i didnt get any notificiation, no email, they still had my old phone number in the system after i waited 45 minutes in line to change it. If you need a credit union go outside of the county because Orange County Credit Union is a crock of shit and its a waste of time to deal with them.

Due to our own situation, we weren’t able to get the loan done with him. Credit unions tend to be a little more conservative than other banks, but that’s what makes them great as well.
Ben was really responsive and on top of things. I work in the real estate industry so I work with a lot of mortgage brokers. If you’re clean, the rates and service is worth it.

I recently experienced the worse customer service I’ve had with OCCU since becoming a member back in 2004 at this branch. I came into this branch to replace a lost debt card. I’ve lost a fair share of debt cards over the past 12 years with the branch and was aware that in the past there was a fee; however, the time prior to this occasion I was not charged one. When picking up my new card the bank associate tells me I’ll be charged the fee. I then asked why I was I wasn’t charged the fee the previous time. His response was rude, unnecessary and unprofessional, «I don’t know, I wasn’t the one who last helped you but I can go back and charge you the fee for them if you’d like. Either way you’re going to have to pay». I then rephrased my question hoping he’d understand that I wasn’t opposed to paying the fee. I just wanted to know why it wasn’t a consistent routine. Regardless of how I put it he continued to talk over me. I did not have the time nor the energy to argue with such an unpleasant person. He went back to get my card then came back apologizing. Apparently the policy changed and there were no fees for replacing debt cards anymore. Instead of apologizing for not being up to date with the banks policies he should have apologized for his behavior and lack of professionalism. I am employed by the County of Orange providing customer service for the taxpayers of Orange County every day and I know not to loose my professionalism no matter how unpleasant a customer may become. It’s a shame that one bad experience can taint an entire branch. Unless I absolutely have to visit this branch I will avoid it by all means necessary. I hope this review prevents the situation for happening again.

I had completed an application online to open an account. I went in to deposit and to add my husband to that account as well. We waited for about 5 minutes after we checked in at the front desk. Duane came for us and introduced himself. He explained a few things about the credit union’s history. He was amazed about how much of the information I put online showed up on his system lol.
He explained to me that I qualified for a «youth» account which just made my husband make fun of me because he is older. lol

Love this place. Refinanced my vehicle, with not so good credit, they cut my percentage rate in half! Duane & the whole crew at the Ross street branch are awesome, kind & knowledgable.

Applied on line for an auto loan and was told someone will contact me in the next 24 hours. At 36 hours I called anxious to purchase a vehicle, they told me there was no information as of yet on my appliation. Long story short it took 3 more phone calls and 4 days later before I heard from a loan officer. I buy a new car every 3 – 4 years always use the dealer financing and usually takes about 30 minutes to get a loan approval and In this low interest enviroment prefer to not put money down. So here’s the dig… after waiting four very long days to hear something I get a phone call at 3pm on a friday telling me I have a excellent FICO but will only finance 80%. Okay whatever, your loss don’t really want to do business with a bank that doesn’t have their poo in a bunch anyway, but would have been nice if they would have returned a phone call so I could have moved on days earlier. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME, very frustrating, too many other fish in the sea, no matter how small your down payment is.

Totally great, polite, efficient staff. ALWAYS! NEVER have I had anything but a pleasant experience here. Highly recommend! And the bathrooms are sooooooo clean, which I think shows how much they value their members and guests having a great perception of their care and consideration, as well as smart tidiness.

Anyone but everyone who has an account here needs to close their accounts and go elsewhere. Every single time I leave the country I tell them in ADVANCE when I’m leaving, where I’m going and when I’ll be back. I have never been able to leave the country without this bank freezing my card and account as soon as I try to use my card while gone. And when you call while stranded abroad with no money, they put you on hold for over an hour with their fraud dept — a call which costs an arm and a leg by the way. And there’s still no guarantee the problem will be solved. I plan on closing my account as soon as I return. Wouldn’t have even given them one star but Unilocal doesn’t permit zero stars.

Today i go to the Credit Union in FV to speak to someone about my account. I wait in line because i have a deposit. I get called up and this gal helps me. I don’t know the gals name but she isn’t a teller. She works in member services and assist the manager. I explain to her that I was charged a courtesy fee because my account when negative due to my wife transferring funds to my moms account. I explain that i was not notified of this feature and it caused this huge mess. She didn’t have much to say other then we will look into this. She did say she would reverse the charges thought which was good. I also ask if my account was Platinum and she said no its Premier. I asked her what is the requirements for Platinum and she said account balance over 50k or mortgage lone. I said i have a mortgage loan with you. She asked me if i just opened it. I was like you have all the info why are you asking me stupid questions. I said no i have had it over 2 years look at my info. She said she was wasn’t sure and that she’s submit a request to look into it. I explain to her that i called year ago about this same situation and they said they would switch me back. She had no reply.
I leave the credit union in bad mood because i didn’t resolve anything and i notice when i get home that the $ 29 fee wasn’t reversed. I was thinking that figures. I call into the Call Center and get Elena i explain the entire situation again to her and at this point I’m like a broken record saying the same shit over and over and Elena was very helpful. I asked her about my first request when i called in about my account status being changed and i asked her about the date and she said it was early 2014 and is still pending. I asked her is it reasonable for me to wait a year for a reply about my account status. She said she’d make sure it gets sorted out and get back with me. I also explain that my moms account is linked to mine and i want it disabled online. She said no problem and disabled it. I was like WTF why couldn’t the girl in the FV location do that. I swear the biggest problem with the CU today is that people aren’t trained well enough. I am always getting conflicting information. It’s really annoying and I’m almost considering switching my accounts over to School First.
I would have to say that overall the credit union is good until you have a problem. They just leave you hanging for year, wondering will my account status ever be correct.
2 stars for the CU and 5 Stars for Elena. She was very knowledgeable and professional. I am positive that she will come through for me. She turned my frowns upside down. Because of her my Friday night isn’t ruined. She deserves some kinds of raise or points or something.

Awesome place to start a credit union account, staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I was helped out by Jorge Sanchez who I would say did a great job answering all my question in regards to a loan.

This is my second time refinancing a vehicle with OCCU. Very pleased with the professionalism on both occasions. I dealt with Hugo and Jorge who were both easygoing and personable.
Check these guys out anytime that you’re looking to refinance. You can either do everything online or stop in and be done within 25 – 30 mins.

Plenty of parking, but the service can be a bit slow. They have a coin star inside if you want to convert your loose change into a gift card.

Good fast service and staff is very friendly.
