Ben is a fantastic trainer with years of great experience and advice! I was never bored during the class and found that everything he taught me helped me feel more comfortable and confident as a CCW holder! Best class in Orange County and SoCal!!!

When you are calling around looking for the best class at the best price, one thing stood out with Ben. When asking questions, he was the person responding and responding very quickly. His positive feedback also stood out and helped to be the deciding factor when finalizing my decision.
I recently took Ben’s all-​day Saturday class and was impressed with the knowledge he was able to deliver to the class. Though the class made for a long day, you left with a good foundation and the ability to assess your own strengths or weaknesses is ever placed in a real-​life situation. When you finish the class you are either ready or your not.
For me, I feel continued training would only be to my benefit and believe anyone heading down this path can only benefit Ben’s class. I am looking forward to hearing from Ben on the next level of training he is currently working on.
If you are looking to enhance your knowledge or just quality for your CCW, I would highly recommend this class. Though long, Ben will inject a little humor when needed.

I took Ben’s 16 hour ccw class. He is a great instructor and is very knowledgeable. He does a good job of keeping boring material interesting and overall had fun. I definitely recommend him and I will be taking some of his other classes in the future. Also you can’t beat his prices very competitive and a lot of bang (no pun intended) for the buck.

Low cost, short, fun, and interesting. Ben Hansen is an awesome guy with great experience when it comes to fire arms. I am going to take his next class where you can draw your firearm, and shoot (low cost as well). I recommend calling him… he’s very patient, and respects those who are pursuing a CCW… as he say’s it «I love you guy’s, you are my people».

Ben has a great attitude towards training, and passing knowledge to students taking his class. Even though the information gets tiring, Ben made sure to keep everything lively while passing on excellent techniques from real world experience. Many other instructors approach training with the mindset of «this way is right, everything else is wrong.» This was not the case with Ben, who simply taught techniques he found effective, while encouraging everyone to continue to learn other techniques, while expanding on, and honing the things taught in class.

Just finished my fire arm training with Ben Hansen. I’ve been shooting for years and thought i knew everything. Mr Hansen’s class was outstanding. Extremely informative and never boring. I would highly recommend Ben Hansen and his class.

I highly recommend this class. The class was fun and very informative. I learned a lot and feel confident that I can protect myself and my family. He also has advanced classes if your not a beginner. You won’t be disappointed. Reasonably priced also!

My husband and I just finished our CCW course with Ben Hansen. We were HIGHLY impressed. As others have said, the class is long but extremely informative. I am SO glad we found him. We plan to continue with some of his other classes in the future as we feel we can not have too much information while in possession of a CCW permit. Ben Hansen Firearms is where you should go if you are contemplating obtaining a CCW or just want to be informed about personal self/​home defense.

I just completed Ben Hansen’s Firearms Training All Day Class. It was a well thought out, complete, uniquely focused, comprehensive, and very fun. Ben is an excellent teacher, down to earth and personal. I leaned things which I had never thought of before, and I have trained with SWAT teams and other law enforcement experts in the past.
Ben is a creative thinker and has come up with some brilliant methods with which to prevent or lessen the chance of being injured in a gun fight.
This is a highly recommended instructor and class!

I recently completed a firearms training course taught by Ben Hansen. It was outstanding. Ben is very personable and makes the class interesting. It was a long class (as required by law), but he kept the course moving along. From his sharing of personal experiences to his knowledge of law and training — I would highly recommend Hansen Firearms Training to anyone looking to develop their knowledge base. This applies for beginners to the more advanced.
Ben’s approach to class was very balanced. By this I mean that he kept it serious when necessary but wasn’t above adding humor here and there, which was much appreciated after a long day. His sharing of open-​hand combat techniques definitely added to the overall experience. All in all, the class and Ben’s instruction provided a well-​rounded, informative and entertaining day.
I will absolutely continue to use Hansen Firearms Training in the future. I would recommend Ben to my family and friends.

If you need ANY type of firearms training this is the man to see! I just completed his 16 hour CCW Course, and I am ready for more. His CCW course is complete, comprehensive, enjoyable and most importantly puts emphasis on what you need to know to carry successfully once approved.
Frankly, I don’t know why is class cost so little, for everything that he provides you including a holster and tactical training gun, he could easily charge $ 100 bucks more! Now while I appreciate the value he offers, its obvious that this man does this because he really loves what he does, and that his motivation is not $$ but a true love of his practice.

Ben knows his stuff regarding handgun training. Super knowledgeable from how to manage your firearm to self defense to the legality of concealed weapons. I cannot recommend this course enough. I’m now trying to get my wife to take the course!
Also, Ben’s course is less expensive AND you get more info than other courses.

Ben Hansen is a unique instructor who combines firearms, defensive tactics, and personal defense expertise, with common sense and humor. He also presents his expertise very well. Student questions are thoroughly but concisely answered, and examples are well framed to reinforce the teaching objectives.
I would not hesitate to recommend Ben to an experienced professional in these subjects, as well as novices who are exploring their survival options or beginning their skill development.

This is the only place you should go for your required 16 hour course. Ben has a unique teaching style that mixes professionalism, humor, and a pretty unbiased point of view. He doesn’t tell you his opinion on things unless you ask. This is absolutely commendable. He wont try to steer you in any direction to be against or for something. He has a «This is how it is.» kind of approach. Again, he will tell you his personal opinion if asked.
He keeps his power points lively, so there’s no need to worry about the infamous «death by power point.» Make no mistake, he doesn’t just offer this course, he offers many other advanced courses for follow on training which I plan on signing up for once I finish up this semester at school.
Also, he’s not some douche either… He’s a totally humble, easy to talk to, and down to earth guy. This is great considering this mans extensive background. I look forward to getting more follow on instruction from him.

I spent 16 hours with Ben for the CA CCW class. I chose Ben primarily for his price and thinking he might be more entertaining than others. Honestly, I didn’t expect to learn much. Today, I feel like I was more lucky than good in selecting Ben. After reading this review, I hope you’ll be more good than lucky!
I did approach the class with an open mind to learn, which I think is important. The material covered were the state mandated topics, but Ben’s instruction was relevant and employed a nice variety of humor, seriousness, and supporting video/​examples. I think the best parts of the class were the practice spent drawing from the holster in a variety of situations and the time on the range. They tied together beautifully and made sense. I don’t think it’s a given that all instructors would take the same care to do this.
I was surprised that the holster we received (to go with a plastic practice gun) was actually of high quality. I would expect to pay $ 40 or so for a holster of that quality, which we were able to keep. I don’t know if he will keep including that holster, but if so, consider that when you are shopping on price.
Personally, I could do without the instruction on hand-​to-​hand techniques (except the gun retention strategies). Most people will need much more instruction and practice to make this viable. When the adrenaline is flowing and the brain doesn’t work, the hours of practice need to kick in. Ben knows this and recommends that students take additional instruction, but still teaches a few movements.
I think if you can walk away with a few good tactics, knowledge of the law (and its grey areas), and have a good time doing it, you’re way ahead of the rest. Keep an open mind and Ben will make your time worthwhile.

Great class! I took the CCW class last week, first reason was price and what was included, second because my brother and nephew took another class and they just sat in a room waiting for their chance to shoot, I was very pleased with the real world situations we went threw to learn how to deal with things that could happen. The class was very informative and I believe I am better prepared for if it comes to a time where I have to use my gun and also learned how it is better to try to avoid using a gun if you can but you will definitively better prepared if you do! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I had taken the Utah CCW class from Ben approximately 8 months ago, and was pleased to discover he also offered the Orange County CCW class.
Ben’s classes are informative and also fun. He makes the lecture class interesting with his personal experiences in life and in law enforcement. His class does not seem to drag on, it goes by quick because he always keeps it moving.
His time and instruction at the range make you feel safe and also his tips help improve your shooting.
I talked my wife into taking the CCW course with me and she was very happy with how the class went as well. She was not bored and learned so much, she is telling her friends to take the class from Ben.
On top of all of this, he is a super nice guy and will pass along his discounts on firearm holsters and safes to his students! All around a great instructor and super good guy.
