Donations: Donations are accepted at the Habitat ReStore locations in Santa Ana and Anaheim during business hours. Contact us to check quality, age and usability of your items. Items are selected based on our ability to sell them in the ReStore to fulfill our mission of raising funds to build more affordable homes in OC. Donations are tax-deductible. A pick-up service is available.

Electronic Recycling: The Habitat ReStore locations in Santa Ana and Anaheim are drop-off centers for electronic waste. Bring your electronic equipment, battery operated or wall charged, working or not, to be responsibly recycled at the Habitat Restores.

Open to the public 7 days a week to shop, donate and volunteer.

History

Established in 2000.

Habitat for Humanity of Orange County ReStores are non-profit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell quality new and gently used furniture, appliances, home décor and building materials to the public at discounted prices. Inventory includes lighting, carpet, tile, doors, windows, appliances, furniture, kitchen and bath cabinets, sinks, paint and more. It’s a whole new store with each donation!

The ReStores benefit our community by recycling materials instead of dumping them into the waste stream. People or organizations who donate items to the Habitat ReStore avoid paying hauling/trash disposal costs and possibly receive a tax deduction for the items they donate.

Proceeds help fund the build of affordable homes for purchase by hardworking limited-income families in Orange County. The Habitat ReStores are owned and operated by Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Meet the Manager

Benjamin J.

Manager

Benjamin J. is the Santa Ana ReStore Store Manager.

Benjamin started with Habitat for Humanity of Orange County in 2009 as the Garden Grove ReStore Assistant Manager with the vision of creating a world he’d like to live in. In 2012 Benjamin moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to turn their ReStore around. He created a profitable culture there in just under 6 months, including coordinating one of the biggest donations in Habitat history from the Ingleside Military Base. In 2013, Benjamin returned to Orange County, CA, now as Store Manager of the Santa Ana ReStore.

Benjamin thanks you for your support in raising funds for the affiliate to serve more families in need of safe, decent, affordable housing.

The organization of this ReStore is pretty good, there’s plenty of space to walk around, and the interior is well-lit, allowing for easy examination of the merchandise. It’s probably a good source for hardware (e.g. cabinet hinges, drawer handles) and some building materials (best deal: countertops!), on which they have good prices, but other items, such as paint, do not seem much cheaper that they would be at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Most of the furniture is in adequate shape and deeply discounted, so it could be a good source for that if you’re willing to look through a varied assortment and are willing to tolerate a few dings.

A few years ago I went into one of the Restores and found myself unimpressed — seemed like too much trouble to try and figure out sizes and put together pieces of things I needed. However, I went back just before the holidays, 2015, and my mind was blown. I could not believe the lovely deals I saw. I didn’t go with the intention of purchasing something that day, so I did not, but the prices of nearly brand new ovens and dishwashers were haunting me.
I bought a house 18 months ago — only 1 burner on the induction cook top worked, everything else was dead (oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal), so clearly I was in need and honestly, a perfectly good dishwasher for $ 39 — WHAT?! — how does a sane person ignore that? So I went back, I spent $ 220.00 and bought a dishwasher, DOUBLE (both full size) wall oven, two casual chairs and 4 foot stools.
The dishwasher was 18 months old. I purchased a drain hose for about $ 12.00 and installed it without any difficulty — it works perfectly. Cleans better than any other dishwasher I’ve had in the past 10 years. Thrilled with this purchase. The oven hasn’t been installed yet, so I don’t know how well it works, but for $ 49.50, it was worth the risk to purchase.
FYI, the dishwasher retails for $ 399.00 and the oven for $ 1500.00
I now make sure to hit, the Tustin/Santa Ana, Bellflower and Torrance stores on a regular basis. If you see it, buy it, ’cause if you hesitate, likely it will be gone! I lucked out to get those great pieces for my kitchen, probably only because it was Christmas time.
I would give this location 5 stars, but I have to say that the volunteer staff need some customer service training. Twice I encountered individuals who could not have cared less that I was there spending money. One ignored me at the register until I said something about it. Another one on a different day didn’t want to find me some help to load my items in the truck — first she claimed there wasn’t anyone there, but when I saw them she called them over, then told them in front of me to make sure I did all the work. Seriously?! Rude! BTW, the guy who helped us load the items looked uncomfortable at the instruction and then apologized outside.

I frequently buy stuff at Restore, a few months ago an employee told me that there is one day a month that you can donate furniture and get a small store credit instead of a tax deduction. I would MUCH rather have a tiny store credit than a large tax deduction. I have a lot of great furniture that is nice but too difficult to sell on Craigslist. Can someone from Restore respond to this? Thanks!

I love this place we always find great things. My kitchen has been totally remolded with cabinets and a dish washer from Re Store and we also got a great dryer. The prices are always fit my budget.

I just wanted to drop a quick note about the Santa Ana store I think it’s a great store I prefer to go all the way over there than the anaheim store down the street. Benjamin the manager is a very professional and knowledgeable person not to mention helpful. When I have been in the store he seems to be encouraging to his younger employees. I have always been greeted with a smile and assistance if needed. The store is well organized and clean and I have never had an issue speaking or understanding the employees. Thank you for the great experiences at your store.

The absolutely best & worst thing about this place is how quickly the inventory comes and goes. If you don’t find something you like today, come back tomorrow! But if you don’t snatch up what you want right away, well you’re SOL. The prices are amazing & the products they have there are very usable. They have tiles, tubs, sinks, rugs, doors, windows, dining tables, sofas, appliances, and almost anything you would need to fill your home.
The staff was incredibly friendly as well. They greet you as you enter and exit. One guy told us about the sales as we were leaving, which we didn’t know was going on.

This place is pretty neat. They sell mint items for the home for pretty good prices. (Example of their products: Sofas, Refrigerators, doors, tiles, dressers, rugs, cabinets, sinks, etc) I guess you’ll be surprised at what you find for your home here.
I was told about this place through my co-worker. He said that people/company would donate gently used (and sometimes new) products to the Habitat for Humanity and that’s how they are able to sell their products at low prices. Warning though, the products go in and out very quickly. I would recommend you to buy it right away and don’t even think about coming back for it later because it probably won’t be there.
When I went there today, I saw a sneak peek of their new shipment and it was pretty good stuff. I would recommend that you come daily because I’m sure the new shipment items gets sold within the hour!
The customer service here is very good too. I’ve always been greeted several times and they even offer help & advice all the time.
Tip: They actually hold your product for you for free for up to 3 days.
Tip #2: They have daily specials posted by the entrance.

I have two beefs with this discount/thrift/charity store:
1) The «new» stuff that is donated and still in the package is pretty pricey. They had a crappy wooden toilet seat (OMG punny!) for $ 25 bucks which is only slightly less for one that is new and returnable at Home Depot.
2) The most annoying thing they do here — and also I’ve seen at other thrift places — is they print out eBay listings and tape them to the «valuable» stuff. Unfortunately when you check eBay these are the listing prices and not what the item has sold for. Soooo hokey! I hate that! It’s insulting and just bad for business. I guess it works on really stupid people though…
Too bad they cheaped out because I might have bought some stuff. However, when a paper printout tries to convince me a pleather recliner that smells like an old poodles’s butt is worth $ 500 bucks, they can shove it.

Love coming here! I donate regularly, but I look for bargains as well. Yes you can get used stuff here. But they regularly get overstock items from other retailers BRAND NEW. Inventory is hit and miss depending on what comes in. But getting used high end products at a fraction of the price is totally worth the trade off.
The staff is made of both volunteers and paid staff. Yes there are a lot of teenagers that work here, but there are some «experienced» workers as well.

This place is a rip off. I was looking at a workbench that was made with crappy lumber (with writing all over it) and plywood. It wasn’t even that big. It was priced at $ 99. I thought it was a mistake so I called over the manager to ask. He said it wasn’t and if I was looking for a discount it wasn’t going to happen. I replied that I thought you would say, who priced this? But no. I just laughed and left. Got one 3 times the size with a clamp on craigslist for free. I would have paid $ 100 for this one though. Habit for Humanity has driven their prices was up and I will look elsewhere for now on.

This place is pretty decent, if you are doing a remodel you can find some good items here like sinks, doors, light fixtures, carpet, wood, tools, nails, and things like that that have been donated. Sometimes they have good home décor items like lamps and decorative pillows and picture frames. Every time I go I look at the furniture to see if there’s anything good but most of the furniture looks outdated and run down. They are constantly getting new items in some what you see there today may not be there tomorrow. On another note, habitat for humanity is a great organization :)

I own a condo that’s older than me in need of a rehab. Why not do a good deed and buy from the Habitat for Humanity OC Restore instead of a big box retailer? Here’s why: because I need specific things and I wasn’t happy with their selection when I went.
I need a new commode, and they have wax rings, but no commodes. I need a new screen door, but the had screen door hardware only. I’d love to get a new kitchen sink, but the porcelain was chipped on the one they had. Who would want that?
I looked at some of their gardening stuff, but it seemed overpriced. I mean, $ 7.95 for a Topsy Turvy when I can get the same at Big Lots for $ 1.50? It was clear that the donated TV’s and stereo equipment was just about obsolete and some of the furniture was just hideous.
I’m guessing people are wising up and just selling what they can’t use on Craigslist in the bad economy instead of donating these days or maybe it’s the area on the edge of Santa Ana makes this place in my mind less than what it could be.

I’m sorry I advised my husband to donate our in-working-shape refrigerator, stereo cabinet, tuner, CD player and picture frames to Habitat for Humanity yesterday.
He had called and spoken to a woman who said that they’d also accept garden items; a large fiberglass pond form (used, but in great condition) and waterfall unit, both of which also worked well. With effort, we got them moved out into the driveway for pickup.
When the two guys came, a very nice younger man and an older men, things became difficult. The older man, Guillermo, who cannot understand nor speak english, got picky about what he didn’t want to take, even after assuring him that we’d had the office manager’s prior approval for pickup. His attitude was very disagreeable.
Not only that, but he absolutely would not itemize all of the donated goods, but made it very clear that he wasn’t interested and just wanted to leave, adiós!
So all that got itemized in such a rush was the fridge and the stereo cabinet.
Very frustrating and sloppy.
I“m really disappointed in Habitat for Humanity’s choice of «helpful representatives.»

I own rental properties and figured I would visit the store (after reading on-line) and see what they had.
Very disappointing; for example a simple ¹⁄₃ hp garbage disposal was priced at $ 90. and it was used, the same one at home depot is on sale for $ 74.99.
