Courtyard Costa Mesa South Coast Metro

The service in this hotel has been outstanding! The General Manager Kathryn O’Donnell, the Operations manager and others have gone out of their way to make us feel more comfortable during our stay. While on vacation my father had to have emergency surgery and we ended up staying at the hotel for a couple of days instead of sightseeing. The managers regularly came over and chatted with us and even drove to a restaurant and brought back lunch. Outstanding!

Worst customer service ever. Front desk staff rude, café staff not helpful, maid rude, bar tender– crappy drinks and over priced. Will not stay here again, I usually like courtyards but not this location, stay somewhere else.

Room with a view of a busy street. Food service is super slow. Should have gone to one of the nearby fast food places. Normally happy with Marriott hotels but disappointed with this one so far.

The service here is amazing, friendly, prompt. They even remember your name! Free wifi, good breakfast they even serve #starbucks coffee! Best part– they will bring you a fridge if you need! Thanks Jared!

Welll this is bad when you pay 175 bucks for a room and the only coffee is the little crappy ones in the room you go down stairs and they charge you for coffee and you ask for complimentary coffee and they say no we charge you. Hell you can stay at Motel 6 and pay 69 dollars and get free coffee and breakfast guess where im staying next time.

Only reason why we gave this hotel 2 stars is because they didn’t have a fridge and view was ugly .no smoking except main lobby entrance .no jacuzzi. bummer

I booked a hotel as I was seeing a show with friends on NYE. Luis checked me in and he was friendly and kind. The lobby was very clean and our room was incredibly cozy.
I had my friends meet us at the hotel and leave some of their things in our room. (Excess jackets and car keys)
When we returned from the show at around 1 am the woman at the front desk immediately stopped us to have us check in though I had already checked in with Luis. I had my friends go ahead of me so that they could grab their things and she threatened to have the police escort us out. I asked her on what grounds? And she said only four people are allowed in the rooms at a time. I had the room key so I walked ahead to give it to my boyfriend and she followed me and again threatened to have the police escort us. Fed with this faux blonde 55 plus year old woman threatening to have police escort us out two of my friends left and she stayed to watch them leave.
So with that said I throughly enjoyed my time there up until power trip Betty kept threatening me with police.

I had booked two rooms via Marriott website.
Issue #1.
During check-​in, I gave two credit cards, one for each room. Due to a separate reason, there was a reduction in room charge. But when I received the receipts on the day of check-​out, what the hotel had done was:
* charge both rooms of the original price to one credit card
* then give the refund to another credit card
When I talked to the registration desk on the day of check-​out to fix this, the staff was most unfriendly, not seeming to understand the weirdness taking money from one credit card, and giving refund to another credit card.
Issue #2:
We had requested connecting rooms. Unfortunately they did not have one available for the first night when we arrived, but the front desk staff promised us a room change for the next day to get us the connecting rooms. So, on the second day morning, we pack up everything and come down to the front desk to return the room keys for the first night. I reminded them of the room change (we were not asking for the new room right away, but that we will be coming back later in the evening). Then, the staff changed their word and says they cannot guarantee anything, which is not what they had said the night before. We did end up getting the connecting room, but it was a very unpleasant experience.

Friendly staff. Eileen in front desk is the best! The cleaning staff are nice too.
Great location for both work and play. If you stay here you better have a car because they do not have shuttle and its really easy to drive around.
It is 10 – 15 minutes to south coast plaza mall, metro pointe and businesses in Irvine. I come here 5 times a year for the past 3 years. I stay for a week or two so I can attest that this is good both work days and weekends.
Parking is easy. This is what made me loyal. Park around the building. There is an entrance on each side of the building. I usually park on the Harbor blvd facing side. Either the left or right is good; because both is close to evelator and stairs. I used to stay at Hilton and Crowne Plaza but I don’t like the parking situation.
Note that this hotel is simple and clean. Not fancy. No room service. No breakfast buffet. No free breakfast — even if platinum. Regular rooms do not have microwave. If you are staying 3 more days, you can ask for them to bring it to your room for free. So I just cook oatmeal in the microwave for breakfast.
They have starbucks coffee for sale at the Bistro in their lobby. And other hot items in the menu. I find them overpriced so I normally drive to nearby restaurants. Which is not a big deal.

My friend who booked the hotel also loved the stay. easy check in. the whole hotel was clean. people who worked there said hi.
my most favorite parts. it was semi late and I was hungry. the person at the bistro was super accommodating to my dietary needs. and in the morning there was a handwritten thank you note from the bistro under our door. HANDWRITTEN.
I have travelled quite a bit and never have I ever received a handwritten note from a hotel. usually it’s a newspaper along with the bill!

We wanted to stay near Disney for our 2 day 3 night trip, but didn’t want to use up all of our points just to stay walking distance from the park. Staying at a Marriott hotel on the strip would’ve cost us 120,000 points; although we could shuttle to and from Disney. I found this one for only 60,000 points and only 7 miles from Disney.
Upon entering, it looks like the lobby of any other Courtyard Marriott. But as you make your way to your room, you can tell this Courtyard is a little worn in. Hallway smelled old and our room smelled like an old Vegas hotel room, like the previous guests smoked cigarettes in there — once we turned the A/​C on it got a bit better. The room looks like a typical Courtyard layout.
We decided to Über to and from Disney the next day. It was about $ 20 round trip; the wait plus the drive was a bit longer than I wanted. I looked up online that night that it is $ 17 to park all day in the Disney parking lot, so we decided to drive ourselves the following day and were also able to stop for breakfast along the way.
I don’t know if I would stay at this Courtyard again. If I was really looking to save money, maybe. I might try another nearby Marriott.

Asked for quiet room and got one. Unfortunately, the family (or families) next to and across the hall were terrible. Kids running, yelling, crying and no parents to be found. Dealt with it for a couple hours since it was early evening. But I was concerned their behavior would continue late into night.
I called the front desk and spoke to Rafael. Asked for room change. He said no problem and would bring me the keys to new room. He was there within 10 minutes! Lifesaver, as I got a very quiet room and slept well.
Hotel is clean, plenty of parking and a good location for me, as I attended concert withing walking distance.

I was able to steal a deal with this hotel on Priceline and they were able to get me in at 8 am the day of. Extremely pleasant and anything I needed was a quick call away. Would definitely recommend considering the prices and vicinity to the beach

Nothing awful or great here. That coffee bar is kinda nice. Gives it a great feel when you walk in.

Pretty decent hotel near Disneyland and California adventures. The staff is great, the bistro in the lobby is open until 10 PM. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner and some alcoholic beverage. Parking can be difficult especially at night coming home late from the theme parks. Would most likely stay here again next time we are in town for Disneyland and California adventures.

The hotel doesn’t look like the beautiful pictures. The lobby is nice but, the rooms and hallways need updating. It felt and smelled old. Also, the furniture is set up weird in normal rooms. The bed faces the sliding glass door and the dresser with the tv is on the side of the bed. So you can’t sit in bed and watch tv comfortably. Also, it’s surrounded by office buildings and not much is around within walking distance.

Losing a reservation in this day and age is as a pathetic excuse as a student’s dog eating their homework.
I knew I should have booked elsewhere when the front desk never answered the phone and responded only after I emailed. I fell for the illusion of helpfulness in adding a second night to an existing reservation. At check-​in, the front desk plead ignorance, and oh, they’re booked, sorry! Absolutely zero attempt to find another room elsewhere. I called Marriott and in five minutes was able to find and book a room 3 miles away, and use my last free night’s certificate. No thanks to this site lifting a finger to help with their losing my reservation.
Underwhelming, noisy rooms. There were kids running up and down steps while oblivious parents think no one else is staying there. If you like the ‘it’s a small world’ experience from within your own room, by all means stay here. Assuming they don’t lose your reservation.

You get what you pay for. This place has a convenient location and is clean. That is about what I would expect in this price range and the Courtyard didn’t disappoint. The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable as were the pillows and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. If I am in the area again and looking for good place for an over-​nighter, this is it.

Stayed here for a 3 night visit to the SoCal area.
1) Well worth the price.
For the price, this Courtyard is a great steal among this tier: free parking, sofa bed, and free internet initially sealed the deal for us when we were shopping around in the LA metro area. Room was clean and modern, nothing too elaborate.
2) Great location.
Very short drive from the hotel to high quality cuisine for all meals of the day (check Unilocal for the area if you don’t believe me). Stores aplenty are also well accessible from here, including a number of malls, a Trader Joe’s, and a Costco (cheap gas!). It’s also great how peaceful the area is — there’s almost no noise from the street during the night and its is easy to drive to food etc. in the area when you’re most tired: early in the morning before coffee and late in the night after a long day.
3) Only major gripe.
We burned a lot of data from our cell plans during the day, and were looking forward to some savings in the evenings/​mornings. Yes it’s just free internet, but you can’t call it «high speed» when you can barely pull .25 mbps down at a time! Surely it could be just a wee bit faster.

The wife and I stayed here for a long week on points. So it was a good value for the price. The front desk staff was friendly. We never ate at the restaurant there. The room was small and instead of a pullout couch or love seat, we had a chair, which was a let down. The bathtub was not as clean as the wife would have liked, but I am blind without my lenses. Also there was a ceiling patch over the tub, which was poorly done and a touch creepy. The hotel was busy Sunday through Thursday, but Friday and Saturday it was sparse. Of our nine nights, we were woken up two times after 11pm with people running, screaming, and talking loudly in the hallways and two times with someone above us doing lunges, sprints, and/​or walking loudly. This wouldn’t have been a huge deal, but we had to sign an agreement at check-​in that we would be quiet between 10pm and 6 am.
