Clarion Inn & Suites John Wayne Airport

Have to be honest they call us a few mins ago saying our room wasn’t available something dumb eh we booked this January and now they call us saying it’s not available like okay nowwwww www! If you ever go to Los Angeles don’t stay here

Have to say, we had a swell time staying here over a weekend. My buddy and I shared a room, as we were in town to jam with our band. So, that being said, we were in a party mood. This place did nid not dissapoint– It was a riot! Friday night there were people partying on every floor… Some dude was toking a 3 foot bong outdoors on the thrid floor; There were people toking it up in the parking lot; 18 kids skateboarding at midnight; a group of Asian guys were practicing what seemd like synchronized swimming, out of water, in the back parking lot. The list goes on. I’m pretty sure people wouldn’t check into a hotel knowing it was going to be a rockin’ party situation, which actually worked for us. But, if I were staying here with my family (younger children), I’d check out in a heartbeat or run away as fast as I could!
Room was more than clean and acceptable, beds super plush and comfy as well. There was giant pile of chairs and debris in the back parking lot where our room was, that really needs to be removed/​dealt with.
Fun times, but wouldn’t stay here with a family, or for a romantic weekend getaway, etc. However, I can’t wait to come back!

I have zero complaints about this place. Low price, above decent, clean room. Area was quiet and appeared safe to me. I can’t really ask for more. I checked in during the middle of the night (I was only staying one night and really just needed a place to take a quick nap and shower). It was nice to find out that signing up for ihg rewards got me a 2 pm checkout! I’m not judging the perkiness of the staff at 3 am… they did what they needed to and I was happy. Not seeing any reason not to stay here. On a side note, that review by the sons mom… lolz. A) who doesn’t double lock their doors? B) Methinks someone gambled with and lost with a Craigslist hooker and had to come up with a story to tell Moms.

On May 8, my son and three friends where robbed in their room at the Clarion John Wayne Airport at 3 am. My son woke up to someone in the room at his bedside table stealing his phone and his watch. Another friend’s wallet was stolen. My son chased the robber from the room. The hotel has been evasive with acknowledging the incident and accepting responsibility for the security breach. Needless to say, we will never stay at a Clarion hotel again.

With the changeover complete, this is now possibly the only Choice hotel that does not offer a free breakfast of any kind, other than in-​room coffee. The former breakfast area has been transformed into a mini-​store where many of the same items are now displayed for sale. (To their credit, the clerk gave me a free cup of coffee and the reservations person gave me a couple extra sacks for the in-​room coffee maker.)
The construction is over so disregard complaints about noise. Some of the remodeling decisions are strange to me. An elevator near the check-​in has been brought inside at great expense, but most of the battered public areas have had little change. In my room, there was a desk/​table configured so it was impossible to sit there (see photo), and a coffee maker at a location with no plug.
I miss the Comfort Inn. Especially the waffle iron.

If you ever come here and deal with the front desk clerk named ALEXIS run the opposite way. Absolutely the rudest, unprofessional, individual. Down from accomodation to check out, or possibly rate comparison, just the wrong person to deal with. Constant manager calls, and no hospitality. She absolute hates her job!

I have to say this was the absolute worst hotel stay I’ve ever experienced in my life and that says a lot due to the fact that I’ve stayed in over 500 hotels! There was construction going on all over the hotel so no matter what room you stayed in there was going to be construction. Unfortunately, my 8 month old got sick during our stay and I was traveling without my husband for a whole week. We came at 3pm for check-​in and the lady at the front desk was completely rude to me saying there were no rooms available, so my child and I had to wait for a room to be ready. The first room they put us in there was horrible noise due to the construction and huge machinery outside so I asked for another room since I had a child that sleeps during the day. The gentleman at the front desk was again very rude and said they were all sold out for the night and to deal with it!!! I asked to speak with a manager which she then got me another room for my stay! Sold out huh!!! The construction was going on literally right outside my door in the second room they gave me, so it was virtually impossible for me to get my stroller/​luggage in/​out of the hotel room or for my child to sleep, specially when she was sick. The hotel is dirty and in no condition for people to stay in. Will never recommend this hotel. Extremely horrible and rude staff with no compassion whatsoever!!!

VERY RUDE front desk. I am a professional. I am completely dissatisfied with the front desk, Alexis. Rather than being admissive about her lack of handling, she was abrasive, accusatory, and unable to conduct herself professionally and warmly. In fact, she could care less about my concerns of being double charged $ 700.00 as she stated, «She has worked there a long time,» to insinuate that she is entitled to bad customer relations. LOOK at the reviews about their rudeness. IT IS TRUE. As a frequent traveler, I will never «again» stay at this Clarion hotel. Not all Clarion’s are unsatisfactory. This location, however, is less than professional.

Our room was extremely loud. We asked to move and they said we could at noon. We told them we were in a class at noon. They said take all your luggage with you and when you get back tonight we will give you a new room. It was not an option to take our suitcases to class. The room was supposed to have a microwave. We asked for one and when we went to use it found moldy decaying bacteria under the glass part. We booked here because they had free airport shuttle. we confirmed a ride at 6 am for the next day. There was no shuttle. They said to call a taxi. We refused to pay for it so they got us an Über car. The staff at the front desk in the evenings were very very rude and unaccomodating.

This is the old Comfort Inn which has received some cosmetic upgrades and a $ 20 uptick in room price. It was probably a smart move considering the dearth of inexpensive but safe and clean lodging in the area.
Clarion is an odd bird in the Choice family, with some window dressing to make you feel special. Eg a call from the desk after you check in to make sure you’re ok, and a two-​day-​old WSJ at the breakfast counter. I wish they’d bring back the waffle maker, a hallmark of Comfort Inn; the breakfast was pretty sad.
Note: if you’re wondering what happened the Quality Inn across the street, it’s been rebranded as «CW Suites».

The stay is as expected with a Choice hotel. Room was recently remodeled so it is very nice. Room is large enough to fit my family of four which includes a play pack for the baby. Location is nice as it is secluded off the road with other hotels.
The District at Tustin is minutes away with plenty of food choices and accessible shopping.
Construction is ongoing and is loud for the kiddos but we didn’t spend much time at hotel other than checking in and washing up before hitting up the town.
Staff was very courteous.
