Bonert’s Slice of Pie

Great value for the prices and it’s just damn good. I love their Key Lime and Custard Pie, which is why they probably sell out when I come. *shakes fist* darn you Unilocalers and locals!

I bought the apple pie at Winco, expecting a so-​so pie. Boy was I surprised — it was fabulous. It had a lot of apple slices, wasn’t sickening sweet, perfect crust. I went back and bought another one. Glad a Whole Food is coming to Eugene, first purchase PIE!

This is a great place to get your pies at a reasonable price. They have a great selection. I purchase 3 sweet potato pies and 3 other fruit pies other. The prices are 3.50 for a whole pie in which you will pay more at most food stores. The staff is friendly and I would recommend tjis outlet.

I stumbled across this place when I was looking for some dessert. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful! I go the pineapple, apple, and banana cream pie. Everyone in the office loved it! This is a great place to get some pie

My friend picked me up a banana cream pie here so it was my first time having it from here.
For $ 3.50 for a whole pie, you can’t really beat the price, so +1 star for that. I usually get my banana cream pies from Coco’s and they are usually around $ 8.
Although I like my banana cream pies better at Coco’s, I’d say it’s pretty good especially for the price. The only downfall is that this pie doesn’t have actual bananas in it, which is my favorite part of the whole pie.
I simply just wanted to try it since the price was really inexpensive, but I wouldn’t come back to get more. My heart is set on banana cream pies at Coco’s.

I’m so glad I found this place!!! It was my boss’ birthday potluck and he loves pie so when I came across this place on Unilocal I just had to check it out! The pies look and taste amazing. Plus the prices are incredible, you really can’t beat the prices! This will definitely be my go to place for pies!

This cool little bakery outlet is actually the outlet for the company that supplies pies to Whole Foods. You can find pies with ingredient lists short enough to memorize AND pronounce for less than $ 5. In fact, most of their fruit pies start at $ 3 for an 8″ pie. Pecan is one of their most expensive offerings (if you can even call it that) at $ 4.
Sonia, one of the ladies behind the counter, was very friendly and told us about the services they offer. Pies can be purchased by the case for even more savings, and they even make little 3″ individual size pies for special occasions!
This is a super-​cool little bakery and we will definitely be back to get our pie-​fix!

It’s not a hipster gourmet foodie status kind of place, rather a very affordable place to grab pies on the cheap. On different occasions we’ve picked up a Dutch apple, strawberry, coconut crème, banana cream, and pumpkin pies. All of them tasted good. At the time we went, fruit pies were $ 3 and cream pies were $ 3.50.

This apple pie is not only vegan but consistently good. For me there is no other apple pie!

IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE READING THIS REVIEW: I am writing this review about a Bonert’s pie I purchased at a supermarket and not at this location. One of the reviews on this page, said this is the same supplier and therefore the pies at the supermarket come from here. I am assuming that the they are just moved from this location to the supermarket, therefore this is the right place to write a review for their pies.
I purchased a Bonert’s Dutch Apple Pie at my local supermarket to celebrate Pi Day (March 14). The pie was priced at $ 5.99 and the label stated that that the pie was good before the 21^st. This being said, the pie was not old or expired. I don’t know when the pie was made, but I assume that it was recent since from the 14 until the 21^st is about a week’s time and most likely the full duration of the pie’s freshness.
Being that this pie was at at supermarket, I expected supermarket quality pie. Nothing amazing, fancy, or even really great about it. It was only $ 5.99, so $ 2 or $ 3 cheaper than if you bought a pie at Marie Callender’s or Coco’s (aka places known for decent if not good pies). This pie was absolutely the worst pie I have ever had. There was nothing good or redeeming about this pie whatesoever. I feel really bad writing this review, but I was so disappointed in this pie, that I really wanted to share my opinion on it.
As I stated before, I wasn’t expecting anything above average or more than $ 5.99 worth of taste and flavor. The crust was soft and flavorless, the topping wasn’t very sweet and was soft also. The apples inside were mushy, dry and flavorless as well. For the same price, I could have bought a Sara Lee frozen pie (which had preservatives, so I opted for a fresh one) and it would have a million times better.
Maybe this pie was from a bad batch and all the other Bonert’s pies are decent or even great, but regardless, this pie was quite bad. It wasn’t expired or old, just all together poorly made (bad recipe?).
Beware their Dutch Apple or maybe just don’t buy their pies from the Supermarket and instead purchase from this location instead. Either way, I just wanted to share my experience.

$ 3 pies? Not a bad deal overall, but it’s definitely a case of quantity over quality. Don’t think you’re getting Knotts Berry-​esque pies. These are essentially the mediocre pies found at your local markets.
Stopped in for Pi day in the early afternoon only to found the store had been ransacked! The horror! I was left with only an abundance of pumpkin, apple caramel, and cherry pies.
Tail between my legs, I left disappointed with just one cherry pie. The filling was mediocre, like something straight out of a can. Crust was also not very special. It actually absorbed some moisture overnight and became soggy.
Lesson here is to arrive early. Definitely not my go-​to for my pie indulgences, but if I’m buying a couple for a party I’ll probably be back.

Good place to get decent, cheap, outlet pies. Get the apple crumb, heat it up in the oven and serve with vanilla bean ice cream.

I picked up two pies here during lunch time. Looking forward to serving the pumpkin streusel cheesecake at our friendsgiving dinner tomorrow night and a banana cream pie for us. The total came out to $ 8 flat! I’m very pleased and everyone’s right — they only have 3 parking spaces (2 regular, 1 handicapped). Glad I made the trip out there; now I know where to go!

$ 3 pies! I walked away with three pies for $ 9 – what a steal. Purchased the Dutch apple pie, peach pie, and a strawberry rhubarb pie that I gave to my mom.
Parking’s a bit of a challenge; I saw that there was a lot but wasn’t sure if I was allowed to park there as Bonert’s is in a business complex with big rigs roaring by (beware of potholes), so I parked on the street.
The selection was pretty limited but I went on a Friday afternoon and read in another Unilocal review that it’s best to check the place out Monday mornings.
They pies in the refrigerated section by the register are all sugar free. Fruit pies (and some sweet potato, pumpkin, lemon meringue, and baked brie) galore!

Fresh fruit pies here are awesome! Bought two pies from Bonert’s Pies in celebration of Pi (e) day and I was definitely not disappointed. The cream pies I would probably not get again, not because they aren’t good. But the fruit pies were just too good to resist.
The strawberry rhubarb had the perfect level of sweetness and the pie crust tasted great. The pies here are sold to whole foods, where they mark up the price to twice of what it is here. So it’s definitely worth it to just pick up some from Bonert’s directly if you happen to be in the area.
Each pie I bought was only $ 3… $ 3 people!!! I can’t think of anywhere else where I can get $ 3 for a full pie! The lady working at the front recommended the pineapple pie so that’s most likely what I’ll be getting next time.
Parking is a little funky as the storefront area only has two spots, but street parking isn’t an issue because it’s a relatively empty street. Just make sure you enter the right entrance, as the one building has one entrance that’s only for employees and another one that’s their storefront.

$ 3.50 for dessert is a splurge, but when the price is for the whole pie and not just the slice– count me in!
I’ve had this pie shop bookmarked for some time now, but seldom had a noteworthy reason to buy whole pies. However, with the holidays quickly approaching and invitations to potlucks building, I decided to schedule a trip to this local shop. The hours follow a more traditional 9−5ish hours of operation so I had to rearrange my schedule to accommodate their business hours.
On my trip I was impressed with the large selection of traditional and cream pies. They had decadent chocolate cream pies, pies san sugar, pecan pie and everything in between– it’s a pie fanatics dream house. So then why the huge discount? I inquired with the owner and he notified me that all the pies have some type of irregularity that prevent it from being sold to the grocery stores (ie. Whole Foods). I took a look at the pies and while some pies had some cracks or part of the side crust chipped off the vast majority had unnoticeable defects.
I carefully inspected all the pies and decided on a luscious banana cream pie and a Dutch apple pie. Both were a hit at my dinner party and the price was hard to beat ($ 3.50-$ 5.00 a pie). I would definitely come back again to sample their other offerings, perhaps the pecan and pumpkin cheesecake-​yum!

Came here and the pies were decent, some were not that good, but the apple pie was pretty good. They’re really affordable since they’re selling the ones that aren’t perfect to sell at grocery stores. Overall, it was good to try, but not somewhere I would keep coming to for pies.

Hmm, I’m surprised I haven’t reviewed this awesome place yet — I remember going so often when I used to live closer.
Anyway, this is like pie outlet/​overstock for Bonert’s. You can find a lot of different pies, pastries, scones (occasionally), etc here for a lot lower price than at grocery stores. This is literally the supplier of the majority of pies you see in supermarkets in the area. I’m not sure if its because you’re at the factory and thus cutting middlemen or it’s «overstock» that the prices are so low — but they are ridiculously low! You can get 8″ pies for $ 3 to $ 5 each, some of the higher end pies (like crème pies) go for a few bucks more. Either way, it’s a lot cheaper than buying them at the grocery stores.
I picked up three pies today — for $ 9. NINE bucks. Apple, cherry and pineapple (who knew there was a pineapple pie?). I’ll update on taste later.
And another thing — while this is sorta like a Outlet for the factory’s pies — there’s nothing wrong with these pies. I mean I was expecting you know, deformed pies, broken crusts, bizarre patterns of filling, etc when I first heard of this place — but these pies are very much presentable. And the taste is still delicious.
This is literally a «best kept secret» type of place, pie-​heaven for those that love this sweet treat — great place to pick up as little or as many pies as you’d like for a low price — to those that live in the OC area.
They take cash and major credit cards.
Parking lot is tiny — but you can sorta park on the streets alongside the other nearby businesses.
*** TIP ***: Show up on Monday morning for the best selection of pies. I came on a Friday (today actually) and while they had the usual favorites (apple, cherry, banana crème) — I was told the selection was greater and quantity much more earlier in the week when they get their shipment.

As the holiday season approaches, I am starting to think of all the things I’ll be missing out on in California this year. One thing I will really miss is Bonert’s Slice of Pie. For people who love pies-​this is dangerous place: p
Thanks to their super cheap prices and wide selection-​I have seen people come here and clear out full shelves. Just be sure to check their holiday hours and try to come early if you want to grab some for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
The store isn’t very big so it fills up but the line moves along fairly quickly.
