If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful and serene place, stop in at the Sanibel Library. Browse the wonderful display of shells on the main floor and skip paying admission/donation fees at the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum. Have your kids(or you) sit in the SL Readmore rowboat for a wonderful photo opp and then browse through their sale room for treasures. The staff is so friendly, they’ll make you feel right at home. I *heard* that they will give you a temporary library card for $ 10 during your stay. Will return next year without a doubt!

Stopped into this library while vacationing on Sanibel. It was much bigger then I expected. Loved the Florida feel to it — the shell collection in the lobby and the lanais with rocking chairs upstairs(we don’t have those in Michigan libraries!). The staff were very pleasant. Free wifi available — just ask for the password of the day.

I worked here during tourist season 2013. The library has an overabundance of funds and it shows aesthetically. There are also far more workers and volunteers than one would expect from a library this size, so it is safe to assume that you’ll always be able to find someone to help you.
