History
Established in 1968.
Donny’s Gateway is the oldest operating bar in Sandy. Believed to be originally just a tavern in the late 50s. It was a favorite watering spot with the logging community. It had several owners along the way. In 1999 Bob and Linda Collins gave a biker flavor to the bar. Today the walls are covered with pictures of actual customer bikes, the foot rail is made of original Harley Mufflers, and over the bar is a 1950s Indian motorcycle from a carnival ride that now serves as a house round call. When a house call for a round is requested, the headlight lights up, and a ride bell rings as it did when it was in service to warn parents, the ride was about to spin all kids on board! In 2015 after the Collin’s retirement, the bar was purchased by Donny Williams, and is now known as Donnys Gateway Pub and Spirits. There has been allot of focus on making the food awesome in this historic bar in the Junker building, which has more history then the bar itself. Come check it out!
Meet the Business Owner
Donny W.
Business Owner
My customers are certainly more interesting then myself. That being said I have been in the Communications business since the age of 17 and continue to this day to be full time employed in the communications industry. I was a customer of the Gateway for 9 years. I saw it as an opportunity when the Collins retired, to carry their torch forward, and improve the business. As we have moved forward my most forward goal was to improve the food, make it fresh, make it unique, and not just dive bar food, things you cannot get anywhere else in Sandy. If I do not like it, does not meet my personal test we do not sell it, that simple. We hope you will choose to experience Donnys Gateway Pub!
