AMAZING! I have been there several times to get the steak fajitas and they have not let me down once. The food will never steer you wrong. The service has many good days but sometimes you catch them on a bad day where the waiters take forever. Other than that I LOVEIT

Myself and a group of girls came in right before closing Sunday night and was being taking care of by Christian. Awesome server He must of had a long day. Because he spilled water all over one of us. But the manager Ian came out promptly and was very nice. Thanks guys for taking us so late and giving us awesome service.

On Cinco de Mayo when most restaurants are busy, I’m surprised we were able to get a seat at Uncle Julio’s even if it was on the late side after 8:30pm. Our group of 6 had to wait a bit, but the bar on the 2nd floor makes it easy for us to catch up over some beer. The food is ok. Decent guacamole and their tortillas taste and look freshly made in-house. My fiancé and I shared a skirt steak fajitas for two and well, it didn’t taste like skirt steak. If anything, it was much softer and tender than typical skirt steak. Their beans weren’t good, so we avoided those. Service is still bad here. I seem to remember service being slow years ago and it’s still slow. Not only that, our waitress wasn’t friendly. She didn’t ask for our orders, but stared and shrugged her shoulders at us. She didn’t come back to check on us and when we were ready for the bill and for to-go boxes, we weren’t able to flag her down. I understand Cinco de Mayo’s a busy day, but it was getting late and there was no crowd to be found. Not sure why this is, but the Uncle Julio’s in Buckhead is better. Avoid this Perimeter location.

What a terrible example of the Uncle Julio brand. The bartender had nearly 10 open chairs at the bar with a filthy bar. She whipped food all over me while helping me find a spot. Three of the four bar tables remained dirty for the hour I was there. The drink I ordered was bad as she didn’t make it as I ordered according to the menu. Bottom line, this is poorly managed and seriously a shame to the brand I have come to appreciate.

How is this place in business?! And why isn’t the corporate office reading these reviews?! Sort by date and you’ll see how many people have similar complaints. I don’t think I’ve ever seen more smartass, unconcerned management.(It’s not a good idea to snap at a customer to tell them drinks are on the way, when they’re not even waiting on drinks, they’re trying to bring a concern to your attention. But that’s just part of the long story.) We had about 10 people and most said either their drinks or meals were surprisingly bad. None of us had been there before, and we all agreed we would not go back again. It appears the chicken fajitas come with the skin on the breast, which means you end up with very little meat and a lot of fat. Chips and salsa were very good though. One especially concerning thing happened. Another server(not ours) delivered a shrimp dish similar to what a friend had ordered. She told them it wasn’t the right dish, but they left it – so eventually she and other friend tried it. I’m not making this up: two adults actually spit food discretely into their napkins. So, we were left wondering how long the shrimp had been sitting out in the kitchen. Was that why it tasted so bad? Was that how the wrong dish was delivered? Who knows?! Doesn’t matter; none of us are going back.

The food at Uncle Julio’s remains very good, but the service has become bad enough that it really takes away from the experience. On my last visit, as a party of 4, we barely saw our waitress, and from the time we ordered food, waited well over 30 minutes for it to be served. When the waitress finally came to check on our empty table, we had to remind her we had not been served yet for her to acknowledge how long the food was taking. She blamed it on the salmon one person ordered — since when was salmon a slow cooking food? The manager finally came over to apologize — didn’t do anything to fix the situation. He made no offer of comping drinks, discounting food, or anything else. Just told us we’d ordered behind two very large parties so that was that. The food was fine. Chicken enchiladas were on the spicy side and tasty. Cocktails are great. But there are many places in the area with great Tex Mex. If Uncle Julios wants to be a top choice, they have to fix the service and take on more of an attitude of hosting their customers.

From the clueless server who couldn’t handle a «crowd» of 7, to the weirdly cooked shrimp that a friend of ours got, to the undrinkable drink of the day, to the fatty chicken fajitas we received, and to the manager called in to assist said clueless server who served us with a side of attitude, I don’t know how this place stays in business. Worse than the new Rio Bravo, and that’s saying a lot.

The music in this place is traditional Mexican except that someone has screwed with the bass so that when the place is crowded then only the«guitarron Mexican» can be heard. Sometimes its torture. Bong, Bong, Bong, Bong with no other music. I mentioned it to the manager who admitted that a lot of people complain about this but said that he can’t do anything because the music track comes from their corporate office. Good reason to stick with your locally owned Tex Mex restaurant. Food was great buy I couldn’t wait to leave.

We had some nice warm weather so most people were enjoying the outside patio and the lively atmosphere. It took awhile to have our order taken and for our food to be served but we enjoyed sipping on «The Swirl» margarita and the complimentary chips and salsa(would’ve preferred guacamole) until our food was ready. My husband’s shrimp fajita quesadillas were scrumptious and we couldn’t get enough of that fresh guacamole. I had the slow smoked pork ribs, sliding off the bone, which was simply heavenly. While our meals were delicious, the side of rice that accompanied appeared to be a bit stale/stiff. Service 3⁄5 Taste 4⁄5 Menu 3⁄5 Location: 4⁄5.

Where do I begin! From the moment my group and I sat down the waitress was confused by the margaritas we ordered. One of the ladies I was with had a leak in her water glass, we had to remind the waitress to give us more chips for about 20 minutes. **The tableside guac was excellent! The man who made it was the only highlight of coming here. SERIOUSLY! I ordered the lunch special, which was sizzling shrimp fajitas. They were bland and they never brought tortillas at all! So pretty much I was eating stir-fry at a Mexican restaurant. The waitress spilled one of the ladies water on her and it was on the floor. Do you think that she had someone clean it up? Nope! The water was on the floor until the assistant manager came out to ask me about my service. We never were asked how was everything, or given any refills the entire time we were there. I stated that I never received the tortillas, and his response was«well did you remind your waitress?» After everything else bad she’s already done?! Unbelievable. No apologies were given to us at all. Please train your staff better. Won’t be coming here again for food unless it’s the guac and margaritas only.

We made a reservation for 7:15. By 7:27 we still had not been sat, so we asked what the status was. After some discussion, with them insisting that there was a 15 minute window, they decided to put us up by the bar. This meant that the bartender was waiting on our table, and trying to fill all the drinks for the restaurant as well as other patrons eating dinner in the bar. So he was severely understaffed. We walked out after 10 minutes unable to make an order. To the management at uncle Julio’s, don’t bother with open table reservations, if you can’t keep the reservations.

First time visit, Table side guacamole enough for 4 people vegetarian quesadilla, steak fajitas and fire roasted salsa… man are we full and much attention and care went into the fixing of the meal and the service was good but we waited a bit before being addressed by our wait staff. Yummy fresh food!

We came here on a Sunday with friends and ordered the fresh guac, which was good and made to order in front of us. The service was friendly, but very disorganized. I tasted the steak fajitas my friend had… They were really good. However, my enchilada suiza was not. The chicken was dry and flavorless. I got the feeling that this restaurant has potential, but is poorly managed. The margarita wasn’t anything spectacular, neither was the cheese dip. If I had to return here, I’d order the fajitas. But considering the plethora of Mexican food in the area, they need to improve if they want to survive.

We have dinner here and do take out at least once a month. Some times twice a month. Most of the time our orders and service are on point. Some times our take order is messed up and missing an item, or they forgot to take the onions out of the fajitas. We usually order the chicken and steak fajitas for two. If you order them to go, know that you only receive one container of rice and beans per order. You will have to ask for two. The hostess is always friendly, has great enthusiasm and energy when we walk in., Their fresh margaritas of the week with fresh fruit are awesome! Any kind so far we have tried have been delicious.

Like many other reviewers, I am sad to give Uncle Julio’s two stars because I used to love this place and enthusiastically recommended it to others. I’m not sure what’s happened here. I came here last week with my mother and brother and was very disappointed. When we came in at 1:30PM, the place was dead. Seriously. Maybe 3 tables seated. I thought it was weird that there was nobody there, but I found out why soon enough. I went to wash my hands, and there was a urine smell in the restroom. Not like«someone peed and forgot to flush», but«someone peed on the floor and we can’t get the smell out of the grout». Once I came back to the table, the waiter showed up. Our server was really nice, but he seemed really dazed, like he had been napping and we woke him up when we came in. Every time he would come to the table, he would remember that he forgot something and would go «Oh!» and scurry off. We wanted to order table side guac and our entrees at the same time. He said«No I can’t take your order until after the table side guac.» Our confused looks were enough for him to go «Oh never mind, I’ll take your order now.» The chips and salsa were good, but he brought us an extra set on accident and seemed super confused as to why we already had some. He stood there for ten seconds just staring. Then the table side guac guy rolled over with his cart. He didn’t say a word to us other than to ask if we wanted jalapeños mixed in. We even asked him if he could get us some small plates and he just silently bobbed his head.(And never brought them to us). The guac was pretty good at first, but then the flavor started to taste a lot stronger and I could hardly eat more. There was way too much olive oil and salt in it. There isn’t supposed to be olive oil in guac anyway, but if you ARE going to include it, it shouldn’t affect the flavor. Through the duration of the meal I watched the guacamole in the bowl turn brown in the course of an hour. Gross. Then our food came and it was just mediocre. I ordered a quesadilla and it was dry and tasteless. The guac that came with it was better than the slop in the bowl, so I gave it to my mom since I knew how disappointed she was by the table side guac. My mother’s salad came with the wrong dressing and she had to wait ten minutes for our absent minded server to come back with it to begin eating. My brother ordered a taco salad and it is served with a shell, but not in it. Does that even make any sense? The shell was horn-shaped and only part of the salad was laying inside of it. The rest was on the plate. Overall we were really disappointed by mediocre food and service. Uncle Julio’s used to be much better and I am sad to see this happen. I’m not sure I will ever bother coming back. The salsa is my favorite but I can’t justify the awful food and service. Maybe I’ll drop in and pay for a bag of chips and salsa from now on, but I really don’t see myself dining here again.

Man, I love Uncle Julios. You’re probably wondering why I’m giving 3 stars then huh? Well, this location of Uncle Julios was just a bit underwhelming. From the outside, it looked like the place was closed when we pulled up. I hopped out of the car and went in to check it out, and while it was open, was greeted with no eye contact, smiles, or words. When we were seated, or server didn’t seem very excited about us being there. The service was kind of slow. All in all, I was underwhelmed by the experience. My family loves this place, and we always get queso and fajitas. Everything tasted great, but we did have to ask for our steak fajitas to get cooked more… when they came out they were still nearly completely red. If you love good fajitas and have some patience, check it out

Our server, Rebecca, needs a big pat on the back for being one awesome person! She was very upbeat and personable. Food was much better all the way around than my last visit. I came in during the week and had the chicken fajita lunch special. $ 13 I believe and it’s enough for two people to share especially with the free nachos and salsa that comes along with the meals. Corona special was at $ 3 that I didn’t have lol. They also have other drink specials which is tempting during lunch, but on the account I have to go back to work, I missed out on those. I enjoyed the chicken fajitas and highly recommend it. There were lots of red and green peppers and onions, it came with rice and beans, a small plate of shredded lettuce, guacamole, shredded cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream. It also came with four flour tortillas — you can request corn tortilla if you prefer that. All in all, food was good and atmosphere was good as well. I am gonna give this joint another chance.

I really like this place but with some caveats. First off the food is usually pretty good. I have had the shrimp and love the skirt steak they offer. Usually the service is good. It is a little pricy but considering the area it is in that i to be expected. This is not your hole in the wall mexican food cooked by mamacita from old Mexico. They cater to business class diners. The one thing I really dislike about this place is the noise. After 7PM it becomes very noisy, not from music but just from the patrons packed in without any sound dampening. It is pricy so don’t expect to get out on the cheap especially for the seafood dishes. The service can be so so as well depending on who you get. Sometimes it is great and others not so much.

O V E R P R I C E D… and merely okay. So we went to Uncle Julio’s in Dallas TX, per the recommendation of a local chef. Found out after ordering chili rellenos, that they’re known for their grilled meats, so decided to give ‘em a go in Atlanta and see for ourselves. Eh. Should’ve lunched elsewhere. Everything is okay, but not stand-out. I had grilled chicken which tasted like ordinary, American grilled chicken. The accompanying beans were good, as was the guacamole. A friend ordered steak fajitas. He didn’t rave about it, and his tortillas, which were supposed to accompany the meat, came out minutes before we asked for the check. The service was mediocre bordering on bad., the restaurant noisy; it’s a one-time shot for us.
