This place was awesome! Cute beachy vibe inside and a great menu for seafood lovers. Oysters and mussels were perfectly cooked. Clam chowder was also so of the best I’ve had. Great place!

Nice casual place with good food. First time here so I haven’t tried everything but the lobster cheese grits are amazing and I got the blackened crawfish grits to go. No draft but decent selection of bottled beer. Limited selection of wine and spirits. Allie was very nice at the bar. A nice change and I will be back.

We had been tempted by the allure of $ 0.25 oysters on Tuesdays and Thursday’s. But apparently that is false. Regardless, we still settled in to eat some oysters. It was around 9ish when I finally joined my friends at the Tin Can and it was empty… Other than my friends and a few people chilling at the bar. I was a little late but the server still brought me a drink menu and some water. My friends had gone ahead and ordered and saved me some food, too. The Gladys Oysters — steamed oysters on a bed of grits within each shell. Tasty, but not at all what I expected. Oysters and grits, anyone? Bang Bang Shrimp — it is what it is. Pretty delicious with a kick of spicy, but not super memorable. Paella — not the best I’ve had in Atlanta, but somehow, the chicken they used on the paella was tender and not dry. I’ve had many a paella with chicken that comes out dry as cardboard. Fried Oysters — too much breading and not enough oyster. A common problem with fried seafood. I ordered a can of their local beer(get this, they have no draft beers). Their craft beer menu isn’t small, though, so I ordered an Eagle Creek Grassroots lemon lime hefeweizen. It was definitely a unique taste, but not my favorite. We ended up splitting a dessert: the bread pudding a la mode. You can never go wrong ordering a bread pudding. Give in, just do it. I was so full by this part of the meal I only had a couple bites, but we managed to tear it up in minutes. Overall, a meager attempt at seafood. I know, I know we’re a landlocked city, but maybe oysters just aren’t meant to be in Sandy Springs.

I did not like the food here that much at all. Giving three stars because the service is good and they sang happy birthday to my coworker which made her day. My fish did not taste fresh and tasted more like it was frozen. Just wasn’t that impressed and wouldn’t come back to eat here again. Three stars for service and location. Would have given two for food.

Had the fried oyster basket with fries and jalapeño slaw. Pretty good. I’d get it again. However there is an odd smell in the restaurant that doesn’t smell like food. Maybe it’s a ventilation issue. Hope they can resolve the issue or just cook food and set it out on the table so it will smell like food in there.

My husband likes this place, but then, he can eat fried food and that seems to be the better choice here. Their grilled seafood is OK, nothing special but acceptable. Pricing is moderate and you get decent but not exciting food. They do have a really nice outdoor patio, although you are overlooking the Kroger parking lot.

What’s with that smell? It’s the first thing you notice walking through the door. We arrived to watch LSU v A&M, because this is the LSU Alumni Atlanta chapter viewing location. All the workers were decked out in LSU garb. Nice. The viewing party is held between the two restaurants so both restaurant menus are available. The Tin Can has a nice beer menu but the food menu is overpriced. Teela taqueria specialized in tequila and food menu looked more reasonable than Tin Can. We did not try any food however because of the smell.

Would not recommend the staff are clueless and the food is subpar. Mussels in white sauce had a over bearing Lemmon taste, fired green tomatoes bland no flavor, fish of the day was trout tasted frozen and the mashed potatoes tasted like Instant. Would never return

Definitely try this place! Atmosphere: Very cute and trendy décor but the lighting is VERY low. It’s almost ridiculous! You can’t even really read the menu! It isn’t a MAJOR problem but it still would be nice to see the people you’re eating with Food: We came at 8:30 with 8 people and I can confirm that the majority of our group really enjoyed their food! We had 4 dozen oysters and each shared the Thai mussels and white whine mussels. Oysters are really great and not a squishy mess like how the are usually served. I personally ordered the lobster fettuccine which is literally so amazing. It is a dish with a red sauce and mushrooms and HUGE lumps of lobster that they cook fresh from the tank. The lobster was a tad bit overcooked but I was willing to over look it because of how good everything else tasted. The portion was also very big so I was able to take most of it home A friend of mine got something where it was basically just a grilled lobster cut down the middle and I do believe he payed almost $ 26 for it but go little to no meat! Don’t order this if you are are actually looking to fill yourself up. Get the the Lobster fettuccine or the paella(?) Service: Our waiter had a cheerful attitude and was very attentive. But he did forget to give one of us our card back lol. Simple mistake! Pricing: In total our bill was almost $ 400. But considering that is the price for 8 people we were only paying an average of $ 50 per person for a ton of seafood it wasn’t too bad. And we did order a lot of food so don’t panic of that isn’t in your price range They have high and low price options. Come try it! Tips: They do not carry the hard cider Angry Orchard and the lighting is quite dim. This is the perfect place for a casual date or a family get together. It IS kid friendly. Yes it has a bar but that is for the most part separate from dining. Make sure you get your card back!

What a great seafood place close to home! I really enjoy the oysters at the bar and the shrimp appetizer. But I have to say my favorite is the fish stew. It’s so flavorful and the seafood is NEVER over cooked or chewy. I come here every so often specifically to order it. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect and it can get really crowded at the bar. Not surprising since the cocktails are also pretty good. It’s a great neighborhood spot!

It’s nice to have a low-key/casual seafood restaurant in the area. A place where you can go like when you are at the beach. We’ve been two times now. The first time I went, I had the seafood paella. It had what I was expecting: mussels, andouille sausage, shrimp, etc. It did not disappoint. The second time, I went a bit simpler and chose the fried shrimp basket with fried okra and sweet potato tots. I highly recommend getting the sweet potato tots as they are a real treat and something different that you don’t easily find at other restaurants.

Yummy!!! Tin Can is really good. Now, let me start by saying I’m not a huge seafood person. I’m mean it’s fine, but I would never crave it. But alas, my boyfriend was craving seafood, so off to Tin Can we went. We started with the mussel pot(the second one on the menu, with the tomatoes). It was so divine! It was so good! Oh my! Excellent, excellent flavors. The broth may be a bit salty for some, but I’m a salty/savory type of girl, so it was spot on for me. When the waiter came back to see if we were done, since there were no more mussels, I screamed, «No!» As in, «Don’t take my baby!» I also love the price, only $ 9 for all those mussels!!! We also got the fried chicken livers. Hmmm, what to say about these? Well, you have to know what liver tastes like to compare it to other liver dishes. I’ve had fried livers several times, but these weren’t the best. The pieces were too big in my opinion, so you got a mouthful of metallic liver flavor, but not enough breading. I think liver is best with small pieces, light, crunchy breading and salt. These were not seasoned very well. Not nearly enough salt. And by not nearly, I mean hardly any. They weren’t very good overall. My bf got the blackened salmon, which was really cooked well, and by well I mean moist and flavorful, not well done. Not in the mood for seafood, I got the black and blue burger, which was really friggin good. We both got a side of the sauteed veggies, and they were perfectly cooked and seasoned, but definitely a bit oily. But they didn’t need any seasoning at the table. Overall, go! If for nothing else then seafood appetizers and drinks. Mussels were excellent, I want to try them all. The oyster menu will be for next time. Looked amazing.

I went to Tin Can on a Friday around 8:00. Despite the fact that the shopping center it is in was packed I didn’t have problems finding a close parking spot or getting a table. I tried the Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer which was awesome! The catfish basket was a little disappointing because the catfish wasn’t seasoned at all but the accompanying sauces were good, the sides were good, and everything was fresh and hot. Overall it is a great value, has casual and friendly atmosphere, and efficient service. I would definitely come back and/or recommend it to friends.

Seated fast and ordered calamari as an appetizer. Calamari arrived very fast and was great. The catfish was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful taste. My wife ordered the fried shrimp amd they were some of the best we have ever had. Dont miss your chance to get a side of Cheese Grits. Our server chris took care of us from start to finish. We will definitely have to come back and this may be our new favorite Sandy Springs spot. Love the atmosphere.

Nonna and I have eaten lunch here three times. She’s a fan of oysters on the half shell and Tin Can is close to where she ives. Tin Can is a friend, unpretentious neighborhood place run by the same people who run the taquería next door. Nonna loves the oysters. I’m happy with half a salad and a bowl of seafood stew. I’ve had the po’ boy and it’s pretty good, but New Orleans doesn’t have to worry about the competition. For dessert, you gotta go with the molten brownie with vanilla ice cream on top. Nonna love her chocolate. Today they were out of browns and we had the trés leches, which was tasty but unlike any trés leches I’ve ever had anywhere in Latin America. Note to self: stick with the brownie. Service: the young woman(looks like a h.s. student) is shy and has no recommendations. Atmosphere: Tin Can is trying to look like a fish camp. The problem is they’ve been pretty empty at prime Saturday lunch time each time I’ve eaten here. I hope they do better at night or they won’t be around for long.

We were craving seafood and this place popped up on Unilocal,so naturally I listened to you all and we stopped in. It definitely was not our worst decision of the night. This place was tucked in a corner of a fairly new Kroger shopping center right off of Roswell. Without you Unilocalers, I truly would have never knew this place existed. The feel of the place is rustic dockside that definitely screams seafood joint. On the particular evening we stopped in there was live music, which added to the whole feel in a positive way. Now, down to the good stuff, the food. We started the night off with the crab balls. There were nothing special, but they were executed well and the dipping sauce was yummy. We were both in «fatty mode» so fried seafood is what we had our heart set on and lucky for us, Tin Can has no shortage of such offerings. I opted for the Asian style fried grouper sided with the cheese grits and hush puppies. The fish was breaded with an Asian style panko that had sesame seeds mixed in. It worked very well and was perfectly complimented by the cheese grits. I do wish there was an Asian style dipping sauce for that variety of breading, but the cocktail worked as it normally does. The service was normal, nothing special. It did not detract from the overall experience. The food was good, atmosphere was great and the service was decent. All in all, it was a good visit and I will certainly be back the next time I am craving seafood in this area!

Came here tonight with my family and am about 99.9% sure I wouldn’t return– even If the tab was entirely picked up. Restaurant was near empty and the service and time to order/get food was atrocious. The lights were out in the restaurant and couldn’t be turned on. In regards to food– we ordered mussels and got shells, no meat. Sent them back. Many of the orders came out different than as ordered and some of the food was luke warm at best. Although the menu is reasonably priced, you certainly get what you pay for– not much. To be honest, I’m not quite sure how this place stays open. I’ll be finding other places to frequent in the area.
