CalyRoad offers semi — fresh cheeses hand crafted from locally sourced dairy. All cheeses are made with organic vegetarian rennet, antibiotic/hormone free milk from grass fed cows. We offer free samples, tours and classes right in the heart of Sandy Springs, Ga.
History
Established in 2009.
The gals of CalyRoad Creamery began as farmstead cheese makers on a goat dairy in West Georgia. Primarily focused on making fresh chevre, we found that we truly loved the idea of working with fresh cows milk, too. We remembered the cheese, a Camembert, our French friends brought to us every summer when they visited our hometown in N.C.Our first cow’s milk cheese, WayPoint, was a Camembert style cheese. Based on those long ago memories of foods brought to us by our French sisters, we perfected the recipe to our taste. We also found that we love all bloomy rind cheeses! Our little bloomies, made now from both cow and goat, take anywhere from 8 – 16 days to make. Each one of them is hand made from start to finish, turned daily and watched with never ceasing amazement as they grow their soft downy coat! However, the lure of cheese making creates a desire to experiment! If you come to visit, be sure to ask if there is anything new!
