AFC Urgent Care

I can’t really speak on the diagnosis because I’m still sitting in here waiting to be discharged, but I will speak on their timeliness. I’m not sure if it’s because of the time of day or if they’re short of staff, but they are pretty darn slow. It doesn’t sound like much is going on outside of this room, but I know I don’t hear any footsteps towards the door. I think it took the doctor 15 min to see me. Now I’ve been waiting for just about 10 to get discharged. I think I would be a little more patient if they let me sit outside or something.
UPDATE: While I was writing my last few words, they came in to discharge me and I forgot all about the review. I wasn’t pleased. It took them way too long. I will say they do follow up with you the next day, which I believe is nice.

I arrived at 8:30 am on a Sunday. I was the only patient present. It was a clean reception area and the front desk staff was friendly. The lady who took my weight and blood pressure was nice too. After that, it was all downhill. I waited for the doctor for 30 – 45 minutes. Keep in mind no one else was there yet. Finally when she saw me she was very brief, and seemed uninterested/​annoyed by my questions. Then after she had done the routine checkup she said someone would be in to conduct a strep test… Waiting… Waiting… When the doc. Told me I didn’t have strep she couldn’t get out of there quick enough.
Update: Ended up going to ER on Monday morning where I tested positive for strep. I will ever go back to this urgent care center. Don’t waste your money.

I had a good experience with this clinic. The front office staff was professional and courteous, I waited a very short time. All of the ancillary staff were pleasant and competent. The Dr was thorough and listened to my concerns. He was quick and confident of his diagnosis. The prescriptions were called in easily and my follow up instructions were presented clearly. The office called the next day to check on how I was doing. This clinic made being sick on a holiday weekend while traveling much better.

This place is clean but the staff is not friendly. I had a pain and I had to wait on a dr to come and check on me more than an hour and finally I got tired went to ask for her. I won’t come back there again because they didn’t give any help about pain even the dr didn’t suggest any medication. She just hand me a paper without explanation. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve been going here for over 2 years and was always satisfied. Today, I was treated in a very rude and condescending way by a doctor there. Because of that, I won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone. People will forget what you say but not how you made them feel!

My 7 year old, 5 year old and I all woke up with fevers. I called this facility to see if we could come over and if there would be a long wait (because what sick mom wants to wait in an urgent care with two sick kids for a long time?). The woman who answered the phone was downright nasty and condescending. «This is an urgent care facility, I can’t give you a wait time.» and then went on to explain to me what and urgent care facility is. You know, I’ve been to urgent care before and the NICE people who have answered the phone, knowing I was coming with kids, have always told me if it was currently, at that moment, really busy. My experience ended at the call. I definitely won’t trust my kids’ health to people who would allow that level of ridiculousness answering the phone.

American Family Care has a convenient location next to the Staples/​Target in The Prado off of Roswell Rd. It’s fairly nice, the facility is kept clean, and the staff is friendly and professional.
This is the first time I’ve ever been to an urgent care center and I had to go because of an eye infection that started on my face which led to more swelling and discomfort. My general feeling about this office is that it’s great for smaller issues like, it’s the weekend and you can’t reach your usual doc for some internal pain or general sick issues. Ironically, this clinic doesn’t seem to be able to help with the truly more «urgent» issues like infections. I was better off going to the ER instead.
However, it’s not to say the doctors are incompetent. I saw Dr Sharon Speed and she listened carefully, and she seemed to know her stuff, but when it came to treatment plan for my condition, I think it actually made me worse that I had to go to the ER. I wouldn’t blame her for it though. I just had a really unique situation that she couldn’t help me.
The only reason why I’m not a real fan of this place is that they said they would call the next day to check on me. I didn’t get a call until 2 days later. And by now, they should’ve provided me test results. I think I’m going to have to call in to find out. So they could do better with touching base with their patients.
I’d say this is a good place to go if you need a GP doctor in a pinch and I can see myself going back if I need to see a GP immediately. However, avoid if possible. I need to start searching for a good GP.

I recently moved to the area and needed a quick urgent care when my daughter developed a rash and fever. Luckily found this place. It is located in a shopping plaza called Prado which had a lot of nice shops, restaurants, etc. The waiting room was clean and comfortable and I did not have to wait long to be seen. The doctor was thorough and nice and I felt like I was being listened to. The staff were very professional and cordial and they got along well. This is probably the best experience I’ve had and I will definitely be recommending them to my friends and family. My daughter got better with the prompt care they provided and to see her smile and laugh and be well is worth more to any parent. They even had a patient survey that everyone fills out on their experience so they seem to take patient satisfaction seriously.

This is the nicest urgent care I’ve ever been to. It’s my go-​to place, I’ve been going since about it opened, but thankfully only three times. The nurses are very friendly and good at what they do. The doctors I’ve seen explain things very thoroughly. The facility is clean and the staff is efficient. I’m moving a bit further away soon, but I may make the trip up here if I’m feeling well enough next time I need them.

Believe the hype!!! This center is amazing! I opt to come here instead of the ER for the price. AND Dr Speed doesn’t simply throw medications at me; she thoroughly evaluates me and discusses what’s going on with my condition. First time I went was for something I thought was an ear infection… turned out my ear simply needed to be flushed. But she checked my sinuses and discovered I was having allergy issues and prescribed nasal spray.
The second time I went in for sinus congestion, bc I guess we treated the allergy too late, and I had a sinus infection. LOVE Dr Speed! She’s amazing!
The receptionist staff is nice. They will answer any questions you have when you call. The facility is clean. And the nurses are nice and always make me feel pretty when I’m feeling like crap. And they shoot your prescriptions directly to your pharmacy of choice! No more keeping up with those annoying prescription papers.
Highly recommend!

This place was amazing for so many reasons! From the cost to the service. When I arrived I was greeted by a young lady at the desk that promptly said hello and asked me if she could help me. There wasn’t anyone in the waiting room so I was quickly waited on. (BTW, this is a perfect place to come to if you’re young living in Atlanta with no insurance, their first visit is very affordable) I was seen by Dr. Alexander who was very kind and was considering to my needs. He provided me with helpful tips and ways to continue my health at home. This staff and facility was amazing and they seemed like they enjoyed working together. I definitely will be returning

This place is AWESOME. I had a cold that of course had to turn into what I thought was just a sinus infection. I didn’t want to bother trying to find an opening w/​my doctor, plus this place is right near home.
Nobody else was there, so I was really glad I was probably not going to have to wait long. I filled out my form, gave my ID and insurance card, paid my $ 15 copay, and was called back almost instantaneously.
The triage nurse did all the vital sign stuff then in the exam room asked me what I was feeling and everything. The doctor came in pretty soon after that, checked out my throat, ears, and nose.
They also tested me for strep, the rapid test can be done in 5 minutes, but thankfully that came back negative. While waiting, Dr. Speed checked to make sure my nervous system didn’t get messed up from the ear infection it turns out to be since I’ve been really off balance thanks to it.
They called in my prescriptions to my usual CVS, gave me info on ear infections, and I was out of there, back in my car, roughly 50 minutes from when I left home. Not bad.
Everyone was really nice, Dr. Speed is awesome, and the triage nurse was Emma, and she was really nice too. She even complimented my nail polish which is the easiest way to my heart.
I’ll definitely be back here when I’m feeling sick and don’t want to bother with trying to see my doctor on short notice. It’s definitely well worth it at least for me because you always have to wait there and most obnoxiously, pay for parking.

This place is absolutely wonderful, and so glad to have it so conveniently located at The Prado. I’ve been twice since finding out about it. Both times I have seen Dr. Speed. She is an incredibly friendly person and thorough doctor. All of the staff is very polite. The best thing about this place is that they get you through quickly! The office is very clean, with seemingly modern equipment. Whenever I can’t get to my regular doctors office, this will absolutely be my first choice!

Excellent fast friendly service in a clean environment. Albeit, I was here because I was sick, but it wasn’t a pain to be here. I was in and out in about 45 min and my prescription had been called to my pharmacy. If I’m in need of urgent care again, this is where I would go.

This branch of American Family Care is relatively new. I’d visited one when I was sick over Thanksgiving in Huntsville, AL, and was pleased with the care, so when I wasn’t getting any better after 2 weeks, I decided to give this place a try.
On a rainy Saturday morning, there was no line when they opened at 8. I filled out 1 form, completed an e-​signature of the privacy policy, gave my drivers license and insurance card, paid my $ 20 copay, and waited about 1 minute before the I was taken to triage.
At triage I was weighed, temped, blood pressured, and pulse ox’ed. I was then shown to an exam room, where I was asked a few medical history questions.
I waited about 2 minutes for the doctor, who asked me about my symptoms, checked out what I was complaining about, then said a nurse would be in for a strep test and some blood work.
Within 2 minutes, the nurse was in for the strep test and the blood draw. She did a good job with both, hardly any pain on the needle stick and minimum gagging for strep (she did ask before whether I had an aversion to either). She then explained that it would take about 20 minutes for the results.
The doctor came back with the results, explained the in-​house treatment (2 shots), and then went to call in my prescriptions to the Target next door, per my request.
In a few minutes more the nurse returned with another so they could give me the 2 shots at once. I then waited a few minutes more to make sure that I didn’t react to the shots. The nurse returned with more information about my condition and how to treat it.
The front desk handed me some paperwork to explain what treatment I was given.
I was done in about an hour. Everyone was professional. The doctor wasn’t as friendly as the nurses, but I was quite pleased with the experience.
And one of the nurses called today to check on me!
