This has been a cool day favorite for as long as I can remember. Whenever it wasn’t quite warm enough for the beach, the family piled in the car and headed to the fish hatchery. After a short drive(2 minutes), we arrive. Don’t forget your quarters! You can buy a hand full of fish pellets to feed the trout. There are all sizes but mostly youngsters. It is quite the operation to see and experience and very cool for kids. I am now 23 and bring friends for the first time who also love this hidden gem. Worth a stop if you’re in town, fun for all ages!

I’ve been enjoying this quirky spot since I was a toddler and I still come back at 23 years old. I bring my friends and come with family too. It’s a cute spot to learn a few things, feed fish(helping out at the same time) and kill time all while providing a small donation to the hatchery – the quarters you use to get the fish food. Remember to bring quarters so you can get the pellets, and cups are handy too in keeping the food. Sanitizer or wipes are heaven for when you finish and cannot stand the fish pellet smell on your fingers. Try feeding the smaller fish and watch them go nuts and even jump in the air sometimes to get it. Prepare for a fews splashes too! Family fun and amusing at any age

Simple learning experience of the equatic ecosystem, but cool. The fish go crazy over the fish pellets.

This is a great little spot to kill time for free!!! This place is the oldest fish hatchery in the country and they have a ton of brook, brown, and rainbow, trout. They have huge ones and babies, they are raised here before they are used to stock the ponds. They have food dispensers for a quarter and it provides great entertainment. These trout go ga-ga crazy for food and jump in the air for it. Its amazing to watch and if you are easily amused, I would fill up a cup with food and go crazy! Warning: be sure to bring hand sanitizer or something to clean your hands, they don’t have public bathrooms and your hands stink like fish after. really gross!!!
