Getting here is a challenge. Chicken fried steak was alright, but not near as good as my wives chicken. Most excellent. The staff was very friendly, interactive and ready to please, even checking up on us during the meal.

On a long road trip we decided to stop for lunch somewhere other than the traditional fast food place. Charlie’s Chicken seemed enticing. The staff was friendly and the service was quick, but the food was less than memorable. All of the side dishes were overcooked and/​or drenched in oil, and the chicken lacked quality. There were quite a few customers in the place (lunch rush on a Sunday afternoon), so maybe it was just my family and I that felt this way. But being an out of towner I found it was nothing to write home about.

Not convenient access, either turn off of one way road or wind through WalMart and other parking lots. Clean with friendly employees. The meatloaf special was awful. It had a texture of soft, mushiness wihout taste. The mashed potatoes and gravy were gummy and tasteless. Both were room temperature. The fried okra was hot and good, as well as the roll. The 3 chicken chunk special was pretty good fried chicken. But only warm. The broccoli rice casserole was mushy and room temperature, wihout much taste. The green beans were good, but only warm. My roll was good as well. My unsweetened tea was good. They had boxes pieces of cake and cobbler. If you aren’t picky, this place will keep your stomach from growling. Don’t get meatloaf regardless, it is Charlie’s Chicken, not Charlie’s Meatloaf and potatoes!

I can not believe this place has not be rated yet! I love fried food. I really do. This place does not disappoint. I had something they call Chicken Chunks (I know the name is not best), but they were amazing. I guess the way to describe it is a cross between a chicken nugget and a chicken tender. They are marinated and and perfectly seasoned, battered and fried to golden perfection. They have broccoli rice casserole, fried corn and anything else you’d expect from a place that serves fried corn. :-) This place would get 6 stars if I could give it.
