The Home Depot

I mean, it’s a home depot. The staff seems a little more gruff and in their own stuff than normal, the lines are too long, and you don’t even get the joy of having a Home Depot hot dog like the San Leandro one, haha. I’ll go there again if I’m in San Ramon and need to go to Home Depot, but no other reason really.

If I could’ve gave it zero stars I would have. If your contractor or anybody trying to get help this is the worst store in the bay area you’re better off going to a lumberyard and paying the extra bucks for the customer service. I just waited two hours for help to end up doing it myself in the end anyways.

I have to say that when I was in Home Depot this past week — I recieved excellent customer service. A very helpful gal, Lilianna, offered to help me find a ceramic tile match to a tile I purchased 4 years ago. I was amazed when she found it!!! Then she got a co-​worker, Forrest Graham, to help me load the tile into the cart and then after purchasing it, Forest helped me load it into my car. Great to have helpful staff with friendly service.

These 5 stars go completely to Redouane in the garden department. He was polite, informative, and he provided excellent customer service. He made you feel that your gardening questions actually were important.

Could not be happier with the service that I received at the San Ramon Home Depot. Forest the manager on duty helped me out when I received a long awaited custom tile order from another location only to find that 80% of my order was damaged. When I went into the local store Forrest immediately came to the front desk when called and started helping me right away. He got me tile that was equivalent to what I ordered and assisted me with getting a tile saw so that we could custom cut them to match my damaged order. Needless to say he accommodated me when I was upset and in a time crunch to get a construction job done when needed. I would highly recommend Home Depot in San Ramon. In a second note Michael at the Pro Desk has been extremely helpful and informational through my project!

I am not always the biggest fan of HD, but I have to say, the last time I went to this particular Home Depot, the service I got went above and beyond.
I ordered a gas grill online, and went to the store to pick it up. Unfortunately they grabbed the wrong one and I didn’t realize it until it was unloaded from my pickup – and it was too heavy for me to pick up and reload. When I called in and asked for a manager, there wasn’t one available but the lady who answered promised to do everything she could.
She:
1. Arranged for the correct grill to be delivered by one of their guys in one of their vans
2. Picked up the wrong grill
3. Gave me a grill cover to accommodate the mix up
4. (potentially most importantly) called me back within 10 minutes to update me and then 25 minutes to confirm everything – no follow-​up required on my part.
I couldn’t be happier with her service, and I really wish I could remember her name. It was a while ago, but I promised myself that I would provide some little recognition for the effort.

Truly one of the worst customer service cultures of any Home Depot I’ve patronized — and I’ve visited many.
This Home Depot is very close to my work so naturally if I need something hardware related, I’ll visit this store on lunch break or after my boxing class.
Two days ago I visited and needed to pick up two things. I approached two employees who were talking and waited a few seconds to allow them to finish their chat. I was standing and waiting… and as they finished they both split off. Neither did one of them acknowledge me and asked if I had a question (as a customer service rep, a customer approaches you, you should ask if he or she needs help, right?). So as they split, I said «excuse me I need help finding two things». He seemed annoyed to say the least. When I asked for the first item, no eye contact was given and he just talked so fast and looked in the general direction with a quick point. He then proceeded to motion to walk off and I said excuse me but where can I find hose adapters. He said it so damn fast that it was clear he had something better to do than help a customer that I didn’t even bother asking again. Utterly disrespectful.
I found the first item I was looking for and then proceeded to look for the next on my own. When u couldn’t find it, an older HD employee with glasses was moving a cart back to the front of the store and I walked towards him and said Hi can I get some help? And he mumbled «Sure» but didn’t even look in my direction and kept walking the cart. Like what the hell, am I supposed to keep pace with him, ask my question while walking, and avoid the aisle merchandising displays to get an answer!!!
So after mentally checking out of this godforsaken HD, nature was calling so I went to the bathroom. The HD break room is adjacent to it and I paused a few seconds to hear the employees in there talking shit about a «dumbass customer».
Forget this place. I’ve had enough. Scott the manager: if you’re reading these reviews, do something about it. You lost a customer.

Thinking of getting your new windows or patio door from Home Depot? Run away as fast as possible. I have no issues with their products but their installers are incompetent.
I had new windows and door installed in September 2015. Patio door was measured incorrectly. Installers put door in as temp with few screws and foam. New door was ordered. 5 months of missed appointments followed. New door finally arrived — you guessed it. Door was too big. Had to settle for installers fixing up temp door by adding trim etc.
Had city inspector out to sign off on installation — turns out San Ramon needs to sign off before and after trim is added. Had to get Home Depot installers and city inspector out to remove trim, inspect work, replace trim and do final inspection (I find it impossible to believe that the Home Depot installers didn’t know about this requirement before the original installation). Installers are supposed to come today. It’s 1:30 PM and still nothing.
Anyone else experienced a similar Home Depot fiasco?

Waste of time. Waited 20 min for help and all i get is looks. Time is money dont they know that.

Home Depot has no customer service. You can go into the store and there is never anyone to help. If you call you’ll be on the phone for 20 minutes. I would expect better customer service from such a large retailer. Gonna have to start going to the other big home improvement retailer.

Unbelievable!
It’s the 4^th unsuccessful attempt trying to contact the installation dept. My product was delivered last week & taking over my garage! Trying to get ahold of someone in the store to give me a date for installation! They keep transferring from one department to another till the line gets disconnected!

Stopped by to pick up an online order (item was discounted by 50% for one day only but I was on vacation. So I purchased it online for in-​store pick up).
The customer service rep was on the phone and the two return folks were with customers. I don’t understand why the «returns» rep couldn’t help me with an online pick up. She went to throw trash away after seeing me in line but ignored me.

I went again, not learning my lesson last time, to pick up another online order. The guy at the returns register (same customer service area) said I need to wait for the «other guy» in order to pick up my «already-​paid-​for» online purchase. (Two packs of batteries)
Online orders for pickup are convenient but may not be worth the wait if you’re in a hurry…

I bought a double oven and an over the range microwave online. When the microwave arrived, it was apparent that it was too big, so I attempted to return to my local San Ramon store. The customer service team made it extremely difficult to return it, at first refusing outright to take it back, and later offering to take it back with a huge restocking fee. I explained to them that I would even be willing to purchase another microwave from the store if they would take the first one back, but even this would not sway some of the employees at the store. After about an hour of being transferred around, they FINALLY took it back. I will give them 2 stars for this reason, but you may want to steer clear if you want to avoid having the experience that I did.

UPDATE: I have to give HIGH PRAISE to the response to my original review of the San Ramon HOME DEPOT. I registered my disappointment from my last shopping experience. The response from HD customer service on the National level as well as from the local store was responsive, and satisfactory. Mr. Graham took a sour situation and turned it around to have a positive outcome for ME (the customer) and for the reputation of his store. Thank You
I’m very disappointed in my favorite place to spend money.. I saw this wheelbarrow on television today and drove to my San Ramon Home Depot. Their computer says they have 9 in stock. The One on display was beaten up. I asked for assistance, and Peter in garden looked quickly in the high bay overstock. I’m old, I know my eyes are not good. HE refused to ask other dept coworkers if they might know. He tells me to drive to another location, as the computer says THEY have 10. — no discussions, but he just told me HIS computer said he has 9 in stock, is there a better chance the other location will have it? I stop by customer service, Slade looks up the sku# and agrees, they have 9. He calls Garden speaking to Peter to inquire where he looked. He makes another call to another employee, a supervisor? ?, he is told to say «we are out of stock» — only 1 elderly man looked at the shelves for me. Its Easter, holiday pay, they staffed for a good sales day, and there are quite a few employees in orange aprons just walking around. ??? I work retail. I won’t judge.
Really???
All of a sudden Peter is standing in the distance at customer service..
I am sure Peter was worried I was complaining about him. I was not. I simply thought another person could try to look. But if he was so concerned as to leave his customers in the Garden dept who he said he needed to help, just to get away from helping me. during this time he could have continued his search… instead of telling me he had to help other customers. NOW HE WAS ONE OF THOSE JUST STANDING AROUND.
My disappointment is in the whole store now.
Well, LOWES is actually on the way to the next local HD.

Walked in, went directly to what we needed, grabbed it, went straight to an open self-​check lane and got outta there in 5 minutes.
What Bermuda Triangle did we sail through to get to this mystical place?
Prices and selection still aren’t especially stellar; if we weren’t so pressed for time we would most likely have shopped elsewhere. If you’re in a rush, though, and know what you need, check this place out!

So I’m the epitome of an early bird & often find myself up before the sun
The reason this is a key piece of info to share is due to the fact Home Depot is a kindred spirit… they’re also awake at the crack of dawn & even better, they’re open for business
Our poor ancient apt needed some new fixtures & as I’m searching options, I see that this location was open at 6am — omg, are you kidding? I’m so there!
Finished my coffee, we jump in the car & would you believe there were more than a few contractors already stocking up for their day’s projects, as well as a few novices, like me, looking for home improvement necessities
Employees were more interested in socializing than providing assistance but no big deal — got directions towards the aisle I needed & found what I was seeking
In & out in about 10 min & for me, combined w/​the fact they were open at such an ungodly hour, when *I* was too, that all equals a big A-​OK for me

By far the worst experience with any Home Depot I have ever had.
Review is for their appliance delivery service and the follow up after that.
My Wife and I came in to buy a washer and dryer. We found what we wanted. The sales person in Appliances was very helpful. we paid, set-​up delivery and went home.
On delivery day the driver had the wrong address. Instead of correcting the problem the driver proceeded to yell at my pregnant wife over the phone. (she happens to be an Attorney — home depot if you are reading…) She stayed home that day specifically to receive the Washer And Dryer.
If home depot actually cared about their customers they would have had the washer and dryer delivered the next day or at least over the weekend. But guess what, they wanted to deliver them on Monday mid-​afternoon. Because of course we don’t work or anything. What a joke. I can’t believe these guys are still in business. I should have read the other Unilocal reviews prior to going into that store. If zero stars was an option they would be getting it.
They told me this wen’t to their escalation team. Pretty sure they lied about that. If there is such a thing as an escalation team and they shared a single brain cell between all of them this problem would have been fixed ASAP.
At least the story has a good ending. We went to Lowe’s and after they heard our horror story, they gave us an additional 10% off our purchase!!! and are delivering this weekend!
NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS HOME DEPOT AGAIN.

Home Depot popped into my sight when i was randomly driving in the san ramon hillside (wasn’t lost, just couldn’t get out of the lane until i saw the home depot exit).
parking lot looked fully occupied, store inside had few people in line.
buys: 12′ of linked chain. (1.40/ft)
take outs:
–found right department by following markers
–after finding chain i needed, saleswomen came by and measured it for me
–in & out in 5 minutes.

The San Ramon Home Depot is your run of the mill location-​nothing too extraordinary about it. It’s not too far from my workplace so most of my indoor plants that I keep at my desk are from here. They have a good variety of indoor succulents, orchids and other leafy plants perfect to add some green to my office. The quality holds up over time-​I have several plants I purchased when I first moved to this office in 2009 and they are holding strong.
In terms of outdoor planting needs, there is an average variety, but I do find useful their native plants section. I’ve found some great outdoor garden plants that hold up well in the East Bay heat. About 4 years ago, I also purchased a wrought iron patio set (table and two chairs) during one of their summer clearance events. They tend to mark down prices on patio furniture in July, which was a win for me! The set has held up well through several winters and some hot sunny summers. I’ve been very pleased with the price to quality ratio. I also needed a timed outdoor hose to water plants while on vacation-​their garden center staff helped me find the best one for my needs at the price I was looking for
Nice garden center and decent service. It’s a great location if you’re local and know, in general at least, what you need.

I have been here twice, both to buy paint.
The guys at the paint department are extremely helpful & attentive.
On a weekday, there was about 1 – 2 paint associates.
During the weekend, there were 3. So they keep well-​staffed to make sure you don’t have to wait too long for your painting needs :)
Oh, btw; if you’re looking for that big orange chunky pencil that you use to mark up the wood or in my case, sketch on my wall… they are located at the register. Don’t forget to get a sharpener!
They have self-​service checkout, so that’s cool.
Parking is always easy because their parking lot is HUUUUUGE!
I went a Saturday & it looked like they had a little class going on in the front of the store where parents can build stuff with their kids. Absolutely ADORBS! :D
A lot of their other associates are very attentive as well, as I was walking trying to navigate, I was literally stopped 8 times asking if I needed help finding something. Yeah, I guess I really looked crazy lost. lol.
