Business Owner

Dr. Steve Kim is a general dentist practicing in San Ramon, CA. He graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2009. Prior to his dental training, Dr. Kim devoted three years to studying the molecular mechanisms involved in cancer cell transformation and growth. During this time, Dr. Kim was awarded the prestigious T-​32 grant from the National Institutes of Health for promising researchers. Dr. Kim graduated from UC Berkeley in 1997 with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

When he is not working, Dr. Kim is either out mountain biking or hiking with his kids.

Dr. Kim is a one-​of-​a-​kind dentist. Very quickly, you come to a realization that he has greater technical knowledge of oral health than anyone else you’re likely to come across in your lifetime, and he freely shares that knowledge with his patients. He cites journal articles on modern research, making connections between different aspects of physiology with dentistry, in providing sensical explanations for your conditions based on solid and relevant science, not just industry standard homilies. He patiently reviewed my half dozen or so x-​rays with me, one by one, so that I understood what was happening in and around every tooth. Including cleaning, he spent about 70 minutes on our appointment, whereas my previous dentist never took more than 30 – 40 minutes. Dr. Kim is a true professional.
BTW, when you get out of the elevator on the 3rd floor, turn left — the office will be right in front of you. If you turn right and not look left at all, like I did, you might miss it altogether and wind up roaming the halls until you’re back at the elevator.

Switched to this dentist after a bad experience with a different local dentist. This was my first time ever switching a doctor and it was worth it. I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Steve Kim and the rest of his office. I am very satisfied with service, and it’s very clean place.

Dr. Steve Kim really took good care of my pain. He explained throughly about the procesure and even took the picture of thr procedures he performed to show me the progress. He is trustworthy and one of the best dentists that I’ve ever met.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Kim today! He did a free consultation on me took X-​rays and really put his time and energy into me! I really appreciate him he helped me out and gave me some great info! I would highly recommend him! Very detailed and actually really cares! Hard to come by these days.

I am very surprised that his review is quite good. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with him. His staff who is his wife didn’t tell me the price. I told her we don’t have a dental insurance on the phone. She told me that his charge is the lowest in the town. When we get there, without asking me, he did a few other treatment for my daughter and charge me quite a lot. Later I asked why the charge is high then they explained I agreed to do so. I am shocked that they told a lie. His wife said they will give me return and asked me to sign on the paper.
The paper was about I agreed to do all treatments and he did. If I don’t sign on the paper, there is no refund. I have never seen any clinic like this. Dr. Kim, I will never go back so don’t worry. Please do not lie to your patient, even though most of your patients can’t speak English.

Dr Kim was fantastic with my kids. Very gentle in his style, yet sill effective with the cleaning. My kids were very nervous and my son tends to gag, I told Dr Kim and he accommodated. My kids loved it. Also, he has a very modern office with LED tvs and movies to watch while getting cleaned (Pixar, etc for kids too).

Dr. Kim is a fantastic dentist! He is very detailed in his work, he begins with conservative treatment plans and moves step-​wise to more aggressive treatment alternatives, and he is very gentle as he explains each step of his procedures and his reasoning behind his treatment plans. If I could give Dr. Kim more stars, I would.

Dr. Kim treated my 10 year old daughter, before we came she was a little scared about pulling out her tooth but Dr. Kim made her comforted and answered all the questions she had. She learned a lot and she doesn’t get scared anymore to go the dentist. Dr. Kim really payed attention and treated her professionally. Now, our whole family makes visits to this dentist. Thank you, Dr. Kim!

Dr. Steve is absolutely wonderful! I can’t say I’ve always had great experiences with dentists, as I’m sure many of you can relate, but rest assured Dr. Steve is one of the best dentists you can find.
He’s extremely knowledgeable, educates his clients on the health of their teeth and options for treatments, and without a doubt is completely honest and genuinely tries to help his clients. We were having issues with our dental insurance and his office was more than happy to help take care of it.
The dental office is brand spanking new and all of his equipment is high-​tech.
Another thing that’s very important to me are bedside manners. Dr. Steve gets an A++ on that as well. He’s extremely nice and personable.
If you’re in search of a good dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Steve. I’m so happy to have finally found an awesome dentist! :)

Dr Kim has been seeing my parents and we are so happy with the care they have received! They drive to San Ramon all the way from Pleasant Hill just to see him. My parents were impressed with his gentle and conservative approach to dentistry as well as his kindness and followup with their continuing care. Dr. Kim spent much of his time ensuring that they were thoroughly informed of their options and the pros and cons of each alternative — his attention to detail surpasses anything we’ve seen at any other practice. Thank you Dr. Kim for taking such good care of my parents!

I recently visited Dr Steve’s office and LOVED my experience here. Dr Steve opened this office last year and everything feels so clean and comfortable. The detail is meticulous and that speaks a lot to me about how a dentist does his work. I loved that he took the effort to have LCDs available to watch Netflix or movies during treatment. Makes the time pass so much better.
Dr Steve really gives you all of his attention and it was obvious to me that he’s really enthusiastic and passionate about dentistry. He took the time to explain a lot of different types of crowns and restorations to me and the pros and cons of each. I honestly haven’t met a kinder and more friendly dentist than Dr Steve.
